Pud snaps his head back and forth between Ben, back to Matilda as she backs away, to Horatio as he tries to convince the tree to join in on the mission. He hears a splash behind him and see's Matilda swimming away. Finally, he snaps his head back to the massive, gnarly tree and he's seen enough.
"I'm outta here guys!"
Pud turns, runs and dives into the swamp and swims after Matilda.

Elkhorn gasps in pain as the crushing vine lifts him twenty feet in the air. The massive trunk twists and winds up, as if to throw him, even as it lumbers forward after the party.
Horatio's persuasive invitation goes unanswered, as do Ben's comments. You're not sure if the tree can speak or understand any language, although it does seem to have a primitive intelligence of some sort. The little folk above go quiet.
Continuing to interpose himself between his allies and the aggressive tree, Ben continues to slowly back away as his friends retreat. He remains in a defensive posture (Dodge). "Elkhorn, if it doesn't throw you into the water, I will call flame down on the branch holding you."

Ben accurately predicts what happens next. The massive tree flings Elkhorn high and far over the water, in an incredible feat of raw strength. (Elkhorn Acrobatics: 15)
Elkhorn disappears into the fog, howling as he flies through the air. You hear a distant splash, some sixty feet away.
The tree continues to lumber forward in your wake, chasing you slowly but surely back toward the water.
Ben continues to Dodge as he makes sure everyone is safe before he backs all the way into the water and joins his horse. As long as the little miscreants in the tree don't start firing again, he will move along.

The massive dead tree lumbers forward to the edge of the shore, following you menacingly, but you are able to keep your distance as you retreat. You can hear Elkhorn splashing and shouting in the distance. The little archers remain hidden, although you hear some giggling in one of the hollows of the tree.
Ben returns to Morgort and his horse in the lake. Morgort is beginning to feel better.
Swimming forward, Matilda and Pud find Elkhorn thrashing in the water, angry and swearing. He is relatively unharmed for someone thrown nearly sixty feet through the air, having taken only 2 bludgeoning damage. He has even managed to hang on to all of his equipment. (His pride however, seems to have taken something of a hit.)
A clothesline floats in the water. One end is affixed to the giant tree, and in consequence of the angry tree moving forward after you, the line is very slack. It was hung with a few frayed, patchwork garments, some now floating in the swampy water.
The other end of the clothesline leads steeply upward, where Matilda and Pud can faintly see a massive structure above and to the northwest.
A rowboat floats by in the fog, on the far side of Elkhorn. Two bullywugs croak out to Matilda and Pud, "Is everything all right? Do you want us to call for help?"
Horatio, angry at the tree but unwilling to separate from the group, gives the tree a wide berth as he rejoins the others.
"I suddenly remember, the Hag used exactly such a tree to stomp my face in once before. They clearly serve her, and we should return to rid this land of them when possible."
"OK!" croaks back the rower to Matilda. "Do you need a lift? Don't have much room in this boat, but I can take a couple of ye'..."
"Shhh..." hisses Morgort uncomfortably to the party. "This way..."
You can make out some sort of huge structure high above you in the fog. You can't make out any details. But Matilda can just spot a dock or something on the water to the northwest, which is what Morgort seems to be heading for.
"Oh! So many!" cries the bullywug rower, seeing Pud, Ben, Horatio, Morgort, and the horse appear. "Well, okay. Ta ta!" He smiles and rows on.
Morgort leads the party onward to what looks like a dock, but is actually a rickety wooden staircase with no railing that rises from the lake, wrapping around a stone well as it climbs up toward a massive wooden edifice perched atop tall, thick wooden stilts, its floor 35 feet above the lake, barely visible above you in the dense fog.
You've been here before, or at least some of you have. This is the bottom of Bavlorna's cottage.
"This is it!" hisses Morgort. "The hag's abode. What's the plan?"

As everyone begins to retreat, the tree begins to follow, groaning and lumbering forward. One massive, grasping root tries to grab at Elkhorn.
