The two figures scratch their invisible heads in unison before returning their hands to the palm-up position. They do not respond or seemingly attempt to communicate.
"Maybe you should ask them to dance,"Cad quips, the absurdity of the scene getting the better of him. "We can allemande left and dosido right past them."
"This is fun!" she whispers to him, before jumping onto Tiny and directing the rabbit to leap over the two sets of armour. "Bet they can't copy this, though!"

”Right, then,” says Ben, bowing to the animated suits of armor, “let’s go around them if we can.” He then moves a bit closer to the statues and stands with palms open and upraised, saying to the others, “Please go around the suits of armor by keeping a greater distance than I am from them. Hopefully they will focus on me and allow you to pass. Then someone on the other side get close and stand before them so I can go around.”

With a sudden burst of movement, the two figures simultaneously leap, as if on invisible mounts, just as Tiny and Titaani vault them. They smash their empty helmets into Tiny's furry underside, sending the giant rabbit off-balance. All four fall ungracefully into the muddy meadow.
Everyone stands back up, and the strange stand-off resumes.
Ben steps in. They turn toward him and reach out carefully with their arms, their gauntlets palm up.
Cad's amusement turns to alarm as the giant rabbit is knocked from the sky mid-leap. But neither Tiny nor Titaani seem injured, other than their pride. Ben's plan seems like it should work, if their understanding of the armor is correct, so he waits to see how they will respond to Matilda and Horatio.
The two odd constructs remain still, mimicking Ben's stance, arms held out, palms up. The party skirts by carefully without incident. They appear free to continue their journey.
When the group has successfully passed, only Ben is left to confront the two odd beings. They remain perfectly still, mirroring Ben's position.
”Hello, can someone stand still on the far side of them, please?” asks Ben. Assuming someone does so, Ben will back off until the person on the other side is closest to the figures. He will then work his way around, keeping his distance. If that works, he will leave with the rest of the party.

(( Actually, if you back away slowly, then about face left/right (whichever way we need to go) and they mirror you, then they'll head the opposite direction! ))
"Well I'll be! It worked! All right then, we should be back in a day or two." And he turned and walked a few steps, then turned back and laughed. He walks back until he's only 2 paces behind the constructs. "Now you step backward. When they're closer to me than they are to you, if your theory holds, they should turn around and face me. Then you're good to walk around too."
Cad steps forward. And indeed, the moment he approaches closer than Ben, the animated suits spin and immediately mimick Cad's posture. Ben finds he is free to walk around and join the others.

Matilda begins to work her way around and past the armour, giving them a wide berth.
Horatio:
Taking Ben's instruction, and Matilda's lead, Horatio also steps cautiously away.
"Ow!" Titaani whines as she gets up. "Tiny, are you ok? Aw, I'm sorry..."
She turns back to the others grumpily, crossing her arms. "Maybe we should just destroy them," she suggests sulkily.

Titaani shrugs.
"They might not actually be sentient," she points out. "They could be constructs, created by some mage long ago to gaurd this place."

Matilda looked back, " I think they're just like puppets...or reflections."
Ben:
”You’re probably right,” says Ben, taking one last look back before continuing on towards the brigand’s home.
