Pud takes a few minutes to cast Detect Magic and scan the quiet, filthy suite.
The contents of the chest are nonmagical, except for a mild enchantment on the small rock.
In the other room, the bronze frog statue lights up, together with the fancy helmet on the faceless head of a wooden mannequin. There is also a mild enchantment inside the varnished white clay porcelain jar resting on a wooden table.
The floating light appears to be a creature, watching them. It is not "magical" in the arcane sense.
Pud begins to speak to the light just as Ben speaks out in some weird language. Pud holds his tongue and goes to inspect the magical signatures.
He goes to inspect the porcelain jar. He puts his shield in front of him, holds his breath and reaches around the shield to remove the lid. If nothing happens, he'll take a peek insight. IF whatever is inside appears innocuous, he'll pick it up.
Then he'll go inspect the helmet. He'll tap it with his retractable rod to see if it reacts. Pud will then reach up and pick up the helmet with a free hand and rejoin the group.

The light does not respond, but remains hovering over Ben.
Pud reexamines the porcelain jar in the other room. The jar has legs that have been painted to look like the legs of a chicken. Inside the jar are two broken pieces of a wishbone. They emanate a modest arcane signature. Pud picks them up.
He then taps the fancy helmet on the faceless head of the wooden mannequin, with his new rod. It does not react. Finally, he picks up the helmet.
The mannequin reacts violently to this final act. It immediately hops forward, careening into Pud, growing arm-like appendages from its fabric-like body: Slam Attack #1 vs. Pud: 12. Hit: 8 bludgeoning damage. Slam Attack #2 vs. Pud: 6. Hit: 8 bludgeoning damage.

Ever protective of his young charges, Ben draws his sword and rushes over to disable the mannequin before it can harm his friends. He hacks at it twice with his sword!

The mannequin is surprisingly tough. Ben rushes over and strikes it with his blade, but only the second swing damages it. It continues to pummel Pud.
Pud, Titaani, Horatio, and Matilda may act next. However, the tight confines of Bavlorna's bedroom arrangement only allows two – Pud and Ben, currently – to melee. Unless Pud steps away on his turn (e.g. disengaging or risking an opportunity attack), the rest of you may only contribute ranged attacks.
Titaani, still without her focus, had been completely distracted from her surroundings around her. Her attention had been focussed solely on the wand in her hands. Her head snaps up, however, at the sounds of battle in the room next to her. "What in Titania's name? Pud?! Ben?!"
Dashing closer to the door, the little gnome's eyes widen as she takes in the scene. Horrified at the way the relative safety of the moment was so quickly shattered, she decides to rely on her familiar trick of eldritch blast to attack the enemy.
Having no faith in his own ability to throw a javelin so close to his allies, Horatio yells to Pud, "Get behind me!" (( He will switch with Pud if Pud disengages ))
Pud distracted by the helm is caught entirely off guard. Sill he instinctively parries the attacks with his magical shield. Ben's sword slashes into the mannequin followed by a concussive blast, presumably from Titaani.
He hears Horatio's order and Pud follows his command and he disengages from battle.
As he ducks behind Horatio, Pud calls out to Rizzo. "Blast it, RIZ!" The little clockwork bird buzzes in close and attempts to blast the mannequin with a blast of force.
Action: Pud will disengage and hide behind Horatio.
Bonus Action: Rizzo's force attack. To Hit: 24 ( Nat 20 + 4) for 9 (7+2)force damage
Matilda raced in and shanked the dummy. Attack: 26 Damage: 7 + 6
(There's no room for a third melee attack, but I'm willing to turn that roll into a ranged attack. But I can't read the roll because of the stupid dice roller. Would the damage change as a ranged attack? If so, gimme the new number! Might make a difference in this fight - the dummy is pretty trashed by this point.)
Titaani fires two beams of crackling energy at the hostile construct battering Pud – the second sears off a section of its cloth wrapping. Matilda flings a blade at it, deftly impaling the animated wooden mannequin – and yet still it advances on Pud.
Pud ducks and retreats, and it's Pud's own little construct that delivers the fatal blow to his strange attacker. Reeling from Rizzo's force blast, the mannequin topples over, once again fully inanimate. Pud is left holding its fancy helmet.

"Whew! What was that all about?" Titaani asks, squeezing into the space to poke curiously at the remains of the mannequin. "Some kind of magical guardian, maybe?"
The little gnome continues to poke, trying to recall any magical knowledge she might have on this thing (Arcana: 8 )In the meantime, Tiny gives Rizzo a nod of approval, clearly impressed at the way she took down the construct.
"I hate this place so much." Horatio says unamusedly, cautiously lowering his fists as Titaani pokes at the destroyed doll.
He looks up again at the floating orb of light. "Didn't someone say that the Hags have all kinds of folks who spy for them?..." He nods up at the thing as he speaks. "What if that thing is watching us for them? What if they're not dead, or have... I don't know... other people looking to take their place? I've got a dread awful feeling we are staying still in one place too long... Where else can we look for what was taken? I'd like to burn this place to the ground and move on, but not if other peoples' taken things are still here somewhere."
"Way to go, RIZ! Haha she's kinda feisty." He makes a clicking sound with his mouth and his little friend flutters over and lands on his shoulders.
"Thanks for saving my butt, everyone! While you guys were looking around that other room, I used a spell to scan the room magical things."
He walks over to the group and shows them the broken wishbone. " I looked at that floating light and it don''t look magical. I think it's some sorta creature." He looks to Horatio "Could be a spy, but I dunno.
Then I found this broken wishbone with some sorta magical enchantment on it. Not sure what it does. My little brother and I used to fight over these after supper whenever Ma would cook up a chicken.
Then I found this cool magical helmet. That dumb mannequin was wearing. Hmmm..."
He looks down at the helmet and then back up at the group and then puts on the helmet.
