"Yeah, but winter is coming." The guard replies to Akame's command, surging forward, sword drawn (one-handed as the other holds his now-lit torch). The sword is unusually wide, and with subtle activation of a hidden trigger (BA), the blade extends and the grip telescopes to reveal the weapon is truly a greatsword!
Samogri is up.
<By the way, the alley is open on both ends, so Akame isn't 'trapped. The guard is, though. Also, I am aware that the torch and 2 handed weapon combo is going to be a problem for this guy, so you would be aware too.>
All the guards have wither longswords or spears, armor and a shield, some might have the shield in their back, especially if they're using thier other hand for a torch.
The combat in the alley consists of Sam, Akame and the guard with the forregere. He just had his sword turn nonmagically into a greatsword. In fact it was always such, but it folds into a more compact form for transport, rather as an umbrella does - not very useful in its foreshortened configuration, but hard to notice when stored in a sheath on the hip among all the commotion.
That's bad for him since now he's got to decide between seeing and swinging it.
Sam hits the guard with a bolt of light, which really seems like it might gwt someone's attention, but were ignoring thst for now.
The guard turns, surprised to find the disguised Sam standing behind him, his apparent assailant. "A trap! Die foul beast!"
<DM spends teninutes deciding / looking if dim light from guiding bolt will help him see if the torch goes out, decides it doesn't>
The guard tosses his torch in a high arc over Sam's head and takes a big swing with his greatsword, knowing another enemy is at his back. 25 for 19 slashing damage. He then tries to force his way out of the alley, back onto the main street and in sight of the embassy.

Grapple attempt 2 23
If successful, he moves Sam out of the Alley and they are lit by streetlights.

(Sam should get an AOO as the guard moves past him I think. With advantage due to guiding bolt.
Akame casts another Subtle Spell command on him - WIS save DC 17 or move back to Akame as close as possible, triggering another AOO from Sam)
Annoyed that the guard chose to retreat - actually to go for backup no doubt - rather than fight, Akame decided against trying to paralyze him and instead ordered him "Approach!" Although the guard had just shrugged off the same spell a few seconds ago, Akame chalked that up to a fluke.
Assuming that Chadderlay is in agreement and takes the redbadge from Nirresh, Angus will suggest, "Let's go up the stairs quickly and get to the guard captain's quarters. He may be out directing the search, giving us time to get the evidence we need."

The guard is literally grappling him right now.
<How is flanking optional but AOO 'mandatory' in 5e? seems to me that should be flipped.>
Samogri is up, but grappled and prone (second grapple attack to shove prone as both were successful.) Currently on the street, lit by street lamps.
......meanwhile, inside the Thayan Embassy:
Assuming they take the nearest stairs, Angus, Chadderlay and Tetrevess find they are in another hallway upstairs.
The door to the east leads to the suite of rooms now occupied by the Red Wizards, formerly the infirmary. To the west, the Ambassador's suite (not the airport one), followed by a gall to the chapel belltower, and and finally, the old small chapel, now residence of the Knight Commander. Directly before you, if you're facing west, you'll see rhe door to the chapel gallery, where you know the Thayan Knights have set up their barracks.
Chadderlay would be aware that the central courtyard has doors in the second floor, just above those on the first, magically disguised as ordinary sections of wall.
Studying the map, Angus is not sure where the guard captain's quarters are, so he will ask Chadderlay to lead the way there. If the wizard does not know either, Angus will suggest they investigate room 6, "Abbot's Study".

"Tymora smiles on you." Akame noted as he moved his shield in front to cover himself.
Tetrevess looks at the guard and says “drop the sword if you want to live.” He shoots a firebolt at the guard 30 to hit for 11 damage if hit.
As Sam walks into the ally he will go “your soul is for fit to the greate serpent” as he attacks the guard
Attack with guilding bolt at 3rd level

Would amkme get Aoo on the guard
Re aoo:
Not if he made a ranged attack and didn't close the distance on the prior round.

My mistake, I misread your post as saying he moved past Sam.
