As an edit…Hearing the shushing, Vars acts like he is oblivious to the sounds below, (and still makes the remarks from my last post). While he searches the bed, he also searches the floor for hidden compartments, motioning to Sorsha and the others that he heard something by pointing to his ear and then to the floor before putting a finger to his lips to signal quiet.
Investigation: 19
(You would need to open the 2nd door in the room. The room you are currently in is like a common area.)
[Are these toy darts, or weapon darts? Also, time frame check -- Bjorn's still reading, I would imagine?]
"Ah, well, people are often jealous of success, I find. It seems Butterman was the favorite."
Pub darts, crudely made. I would say you would be just about done thumbing through to find the information as it was well organized by the great Mordenkainen.

(Ah, okay.)
Vars quietly steps towards the second door as the others search the common area. He doesn't want to alert whoever is in there that he is on to them, but be is still adamantly searching.

Sorsha picks up the hairbrush and checks it out, curious about it's enchantment. She recons the poor goblin servant won't need it anymore. Investigation if applicable: 7 She then picks up the piece of parchment from beneath the pillow and looks at it. Another investigation if applicable: 11

Bjorn laughs as he sees the stuffed gnome. "It looks just like him, only less angry!" He tosses the monster book onto the table and attempts to sneakily move the gnome-shaped scarecrow into the doorway behind Sorsha. Stealth: 11

The floor boards creak as you walk towards the door. You are paying such close attention that the creaking sounds thunderous to your ears. You are fairly certain everyone in town can hear you walking….none of the boards seem loose to you. If you open the 2nd door, the hinges creak louder than the floorboards…you peek inside and see a sort of messy bedroom. The bed is crumpled up, dirty clothing all over the floor. There is a small box next to the bed. Some drawing utensils, a few small pots of paint and brush’s along with some rudimentary sketch’s and attempts to copy some of the other paintings you have seen in other rooms.

The hairbrush feels like normal, but when you let it go it stays at the height in which you leave it. Pretty handy and it’s a very nicely made brush.
the parchment is a letter, written in very messy, hard to read common. It looks like the writing of a young child, but you realize as you focus, it was written by an adult. Apparently, the goblin you found in the basement had feelings for the goblin woman from the vat. This is a love letter written by him to her. From the letter you can make out their names. Her name was Smiles and his was Granch.
Vars frowns, stopping to stand still and avoid further noise. No use in hiding where he was anymore, but at least if he could silence the floorboards he might be able to hear someone else's failed attempts at stealth. Turning his attention away from the floorboards, he instead eyes the walls, wondering if there is a hidden door that might lead down into a hidden basement. There has to be something somewhere...unless the rats were down there shushing each other...
Sorsha smiles and pockets the hair brush. She then feels pity for the two poor goblins they found and pockets the love letter too to remember to exact justice on their behalf at some point. She then notices Bjorn in the doorway, holding the gnome-shaped scarecrow. "Yes, anything interesting with that Bjorn or is this simply boring to you?" She says with a tired sigh, getting up and into the servants common room again. "Where did Sparhawk and Eberk go?" She asks Bjorn.

As Sparhawk heads into the kitchen, he sees a rough looking fellow, sitting down at the table looking like he is going to eat the magically preserved breakfast. The man looks at sparhawk with a grin as another man Sparhawk didn’t notice on the left of the entryway swings a scimitar at his mid section.

Sparhawk hears something in the kitchen. Like a chair being moved or something.
Frangipani, seeing that she is alone with Mr Butterman and the cube leans over to try and take a bite of the cube.
( roll an unarmed attack, and describe how you try and bite)
Sparkhawk hearing something move in the kitchen quickly moves in, looking for the source of motion from the floor.
Eberk pulls his warhammer and follows Sparhawk into the kitchen.
Frangipani leaned forward her teeth nibbling as she kept eye contact with the gnome the entire time.....

She leans forward to nibble and the cube shifts away from her teeth. It seems you will need to take a more aggressive action to get a bite
