Vars lets out a curse as he glances about the room, "Where would be the most likely place they would have gone?" He grumbles, turning to glance about the room. Perhaps the bandits left some sort of trail in their escape...he looks down at the floor, searching for any sort of scuff from hurried feet, or nick on the walls where a weapon or belt buckle might have scratched it as someone ran around a corner or through the door.

Around the basement, as the dust cloud settles a bit you can see the lid of the barrel hiding the secret entrance has blown off and shattered against the wall. A few of the barrels are blown over and leaking pickle juice and some other unidentifiable substances. There are two barrels still standing upright in the center of the room, the ones marked dangerous and the other various barrels and crates of supplies are still in good order along the walls where they were previously. You find no boot prints, but do find a small satchel with some burglary tools inside, including a thieves tool set, a pry bar and small canister made from leather and some kind of wood. On top it has a t-handle attached to a rod that is inside the canister
It looks safe…enough. It appears to you that to use it requires the handle to be pulled out. There is a small, weak bit of twine securing it down, seems like it would break with a good tug of the handle.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As Sorsha quickly follows Vars through the obliterated kitchen and down to the basement she makes a quick count of which which of the thieves are down and which are still unaccounted for, her spectral tentacle obediently trailing along after her. She keeps one eye on the tunnel as she looks around the basement to be sure none of the thieves are still hiding there, also loking for a spot to take cover should the thieves try to burst forth from the tunnel. She then quickly looks at the satchel Vars is showing her, trying to determine its purpose, still keeping an eye on the tunnel and listening for sounds of thieves coming back their way, motioning for Vars to keep quiet.
Sparhawk listens for the rest of the party, not sure where everyone else went inside. "Sorsha, Vars?". If the dwarf or other bad guys left their weapons in the kitchen, Sparhawk will give them a look over to see if they are of good quality.

There are three bodies in the kitchen, the crossbow bandit near the doorway to basement stairs, the magic bandit killed by Vars, and the dwarf with the smashed skull. The painting is on the ground, frame is busted and it’s leaking salt water..the satchel appears to be one of the bandits tool bags used to break into to places. The basement looks as described in #1322. So far no sounds or other evidence of the unaccounted for bandits

The crossbow bandits weapon is of average quality, but still looks functional. The dwarf’s hammer is pretty nice, but well used.( if you wish to loot the bodies roll investigation)
On the bodies you find each has a small money pouch. The dwarf also has a parchment your familiar with, the poster for reward for Abernath info. Also the dwarf has a small leather pouch containing 2 vials of some substance, it’s color is brackish green brown.
Bjorn uses some Minor Illusions to buy some time, making images of strange monsters from the Tome of Foes and calling on the crowd to make noise before moving on to the next display. It's not that impressive. Whenever the guard detachment is close, he waves them in and goes over to speak to them.
"Afternoon, fellows. I'm keeping these fine folk away from the fighting, but nevertheless I'm glad you're here. Inside this house there's a fight happening between Captain Sorsha's crew, working for the Third Ship, and a band of bomb-throwing thieves working for the bugbear Bernard. Perhaps you've heard of the bounty placed on these thieves by Fist Scarsguard earlier this afternoon? Though most of the work is finished, the crew has sustained some injuries, so I'm sure they could spare, say, a quarter of the rewards for your assistance?"
unless something else happens, Saying out loud so the party can hear: "Three of the bandits are dead in the kitchen."
Sparhawk will grab the hammer and dagger for later investigation, and empty the money pouches into his, not wanting to have their pouches on his person. He will also grab the pouch with the 2 vials and keep that one separately. He had already grabbed the grappling net when he first entered. He is still waiting to hear from the rest of the group. He grabs the poster as well as visual proof of their task. He then heads back to the main hall, hoping to find the rest of the party. He is badly injured and is in need of healing/ rest before he can be of much use.
(Assuming the canister is identified as a bomb) Vars carefully wraps it in a spare piece of cloth and places it inside his own satchel--within a pocket that is easy for him to reach. He also takes the satchel as his own (Are there some lock picks in there?).
"Well blast, unless they are hiding out somewhere, they got away," he grumbles, making his way out of the basement. "You alright Sparhawk? You took a pretty good beating." He shouts to the paladin as he moves to check upstairs. He will check the balcony, and the secret room as well. Not thoroughly, just well enough to tell if there is anyone in there. He doesn't want to give these guys any extra time to escape if they are still around.
Sparhawk looks disheveled. He has fragments of the explosion, goblin, and green acid all over him. He's holding random weapons, his sword, and a cat (Frangi). He may drop something at any moment. He seems confused.
"Hi Vars, good to see you. I'm in need of some healing for sure after being hit by the explosion outside. We should head to a safer place and regroup. Searched the men in the kitchen. Some money and perhaps a few potions/ or poison vials."

Deception, probably: Dice rolls not yet available for this section.
Some in the crowd clap and applause, seeming to forget the murdered goblin and explosion they just witnessed. Your meager illusions are just the type they love. A few in the crowd head away from the guards and possible scrutiny. The guards don’t seem particularly on edge as much as annoyed at having to do some work at dinner time.
the guard boss approaches and says, “ workin for the third ship you say? Lookin for the scoundrel Bugbear Bernard eh? Who the ELL are you supposed to be?”
"Me? I'm a friendly wanderer. I've not been in town for long, so forgive me if I'm misunderstanding the custom, but I believe the standard greeting would be..." He scowls and spits on the ground. "Don't take that bloody tone with me, lad, unless you want that spear to find its way up your arse."
Then he reverts back to innocent congeniality. "Is that right?"
The guard accidentally chuckles before regaining his bearing. “ let’s step inside and have a look at your official documents and see what is what..”
he directs you into the house, leaving the flag bearers to guard the doorway. The other guards scatter the on lookers telling them to go back to their own business before following you into the house.
"Keep your guard up, now. I didn't get a good look at the thieves, but Cap'n Sorsha looks like this --" He creates an illusion of her, then walks through it, "and Sparhawk... and Frangipani..." two more illusions, "and here's Eberk... and Vars, so if you see somebody else here, that's your thief."

Vars snatches up the satchel and hesitates only a little before taking the canister as well. If it looks safe, he will pick it up and look it over,

If he doesn't know what it is, he shows it to Sorsha, "What does this look like to you?"
