Vars pauses, eyeing the guard, "Really? What kind of guard are you? Trying to make coin off the people who are actually trying to get the bandits?" He crosses his arms, trying to ignore the screams from the basement. Clearly they are from the bandit, so what is there to worry about? He chuckles a little, shaking his head, "No one's going to get paid if things go poorly here."
Sorsha quickly retreats up the stairs (Disengage if necessary.) and lets her spectral tentacle thrash at the dying thief again to end his pain. Hoping his blow put the poor lad out of his misery, Sparhawk will begin to follow Sorsha out of the house. He keeps his guard up, feeling uneasy about Pepe and wondering if any of the other bandits are still lurking about. When he gets to the front room, he will address Bjorn and the guards. "Thank the gods you are here. Do you hear that screaming? There is an unholy hideous creature sprouting out of a man's body in the basement. I've done what I can to subdue it. I'm not sure what the wizard unleashed down there. I assume you guards may want to handle it, although between you and me, (he winks), it may be best if we are all on our way." (Persuasion: 5

Sorsha's tentacle begins convulsing as well, tendrils springing from the areas coated with the goo from the barrel. The tendrils lash out and join up with the ones comes from The former bandit known as Pepe, pulling him in and merging together

The tentacle fails to respond as the mental link has become tainted. You sense it is no longer the thing you have summoned. Disengage was definitely required.

"Okay, time to leave." Sorsha calls out on her way through the kitchen. As she reaches the corridor she notices the city guards and turns to their apparent leader. "There's something very disturbing happening in the basement, don't take my word for it, just check it out for yourself, but I think whatever this monster might be it must be handled by an arcane brother. I suggest you'd let us get Irongrass here immediately."She says grimly.

“ ummm, okay. We will handle the transaction outside the Wizards home.” looking a bit nervous now, he is the first outside the door and as he heads out he blows 3 short notes from his horn. There is a large crashing sound coming from the basement and unholy screeching sounds. As you look at the floor you spot black tendrils working their way up through the floorboards.
Sparhawk, while retreating the Pepe tentacle monster will swing at you with necrotic tendrils
The tendrils can’t quite get a hold as it strikes your armor. You are able to get up the steps and into the kitchen, delivering your warning just as Sorsha has delivered hers. The smell of pickle juice become strong as the creature breaks apart the barrels and starts to expand towards the staircase
Once outside, the guards are all gathered in front of the porch with weapons drawn, the leader directs two of them to head into the basement to survey what it is that is developing.
a rider on horseback pulls up and delivers a message to the leader. He nods and blows the horn one long blast, followed by two shorter ones.
” well it seems someone has already alerted the tower to this mess. A compatriot of mine from the Kursk bridge said some fella teleported in front of the tower none too long ago. When approached by the entry guards he informed them Abernath’s home was being robbed and the robbers killed his men when they attempted to stop them..A wizard of the 2nd tower, is on his way with a few initiates for a spontaneous test…he might want to fess up the fee now, once he gets here it will be outa my hands……”
Bjorn, leaving the house with the broom in hand, just sighs. "So, what you're saying is that this teleporting man works for Abernathy? He defends the house from robbers? Abernathy's a member of the Brotherhood, I'm sure he pays handsomely, wherever he is. Maybe you should charge the teleporting man with these crimes instead. I bet you'd get more out of him. And perhaps for the advice, you'd let us go." He rolls his eyes. "What's the fee for murder, anyway?"
Sparhawk catching the comment from the guard, looks down at him. “Fee?” His friendly and caring smile now more of a disappointed look. “What fee?” He continues moving away from the house in no mood to deal with this new horror or the crooked guards
“ now the fee is 10g to let you leave before the Wizards get here. They won’t be inclined to talk or negotiate. My ADVICE to you would be to pay up and head straight out of town via my Northgate. I will tell the Wizards you were consumed fighting this thing you have created..maybe they won’t keep looking.”
the Guard looks sternly at Bjorn and is about to say something else, when a blood curdling scream comes from within the house, one of the guards sent in has apparently met the thing…then a crash as the twisted tentacle Pepe bursts from the roof. The black tendrils creeping out the windows and front door. There is a giant eye at the tip of the tentacle. Lower down its form you can see Pepes face, like a mask glued to its surface, face contorted in agony with black eyes staring at Sparhawk. The other guard is fighting with the dark appendages, struggling to free himself to no avail and the tendrils pierce his skin and eyes. The rest of the guards keep blockading the porch weapons at the rdy. Some of them have pulled out manacles and nets
