Bjorn pats the pack mule and mutters, "it's fine. We have until we find Bernard to get our act together. That's plenty of time." The animal no longer understands him though.
Vars rolls his eyes, Sorsha wouldn't really leave would she? ...would she? As the wagon catches up to Sorsha and Frangipani, Vars keeps an eye on the man ahead of them.
"Calm down now, we weren't really going to do anything. We were just talking, right Bjorn?" He nudge's Bjorn a little hoping he'd agree. "Like you said, it would be foolish to attack someone just because we can. Besides, he's a little suspicious anyways, which clearly Sparhawk has caught on to." He hesitates, "But...if he does prove to be bait, or a distraction...you wouldn't be against us taking his stuff now would you? 'Cause... it might come in handy later."
He eyes the fellow ahead of them, "It's awful strange that he's the only other traveler on the road... though I must say I don't use roads much myself, especially not this one, so I don't know how much traffic we should expect."
He scans the sides of the road, watching the tree line for anything that could signal an ambush.
If he can, Sparhawk will try to convince Frangipani to catch a few fish for breakfast or lunch. With one of the fish still alive, he will cut the fish very lightly, keeping it alive and administer a small amount of his unknown potion (healing?). He will also give the fish a few drops by mouth to see how it reacts.(Poison?) Investigation if needed: 12
He will continue to experiment while they travel on the road.
Sparhawk puts a few drops of the unknown liquid onto the wound on the fish, for a sec nothing happens….another second and it appears the wound might maybe closing. Then reality strikes, the wound isn’t closing, the flesh is swelling and then turns black. Sparhawk can see the dark poison move through the fish at a rapid pace, it’s veins turned black and visible through it scales. The fish dies relatively quickly, confirming for Sparhawk, these are not healing potions but more likely vials of nasty poison.
while you are not sure of the origin of this poison, it’s effects seem similar to the poison from a serpent. Something lightly discussed in your medical portion of training.
Sparkawk looks for an ambush (Post 300 perception), but sensing both that this man seems strange but also that the party could make a careless mistake will wave at the man in greeting, and in a loud friendly voice will say, "Hail traveler and friend." He asks Sorsha to join him but the party to keep alert to an ambush.
(this could change if he sees others hidden/ trap/ ambush, got a good perception roll).
The man does indeed seem wary…and confident. You do not see any signs of an ambush along the road. As he see Sparhawk wave and friendly greeting he raises his hand in response and once he gets closer she seems to relax a little bit. He halts his horse about 15 feet from the group and says, “ Ho there friends. Any interesting news out of Luskan? I have been away for weeks…seems like years” he smiles broadly and give a bit of a laugh.
” that’s pretty sharp looking armor you got on there, seems of high quality”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“Thank you my friend. Are you in need of any rations or healing?” Sparhawk offers. Perception now that the traveler is closer. Any clues to his affiliation, trade, class

”I am Sir Sparhawk. You have met my fine friend Bjorn the mysterious, and may I present our captain of course, Sorsha Deepfathom”. Sparhawk backs off, giving Sorsha room to approach. He stays alert for danger as always and moves off to the right side of the road, giving the traveler more space.
Sorsha gives Bjorn a curious glance, wondering if he doesn't know that this has almost always been the case. She then smiles quickly and nods to Sparhawk before coming a bit closer to the man on the cart. "I think you will find that Luskan is much as it has alway been, but I didn't catch your name there stranger." She says with a polite smile.
(Rolled insight to determine if the traveller has hostile intentions in post 1451 :-)
"As the story goes, Sparhawk's armor once belonged to an Uthgardt raider. Though, the raider almost certainly stole it from someone else." Bjorn shrugs. "These are lawless lands."
Vars laughs, “We’ll, yesterday some idiot must’ve gone snooping around in some wizard’s house. The fellow must’ve touched something he shouldn’t have, made him into some sort of creature. Heh, the wizards put on quite the light show when they came to take care of it.” He grins at the horseman, “Name’s Vars by the way.”
"City's in shambles." Bjorn solemnly shakes his head. "Whole place is run by pirates now."
The traveler gives Bjorn a curious look and a second later gives a laugh. “ that is is, friend….Well met, Sir Sparhawk. I require no aid at this time. It’s actually been a quiet journey fro Mirabar, usually there is at least one or two hijacking attempts on this road…”
His smile never waivers, but you can see his eyes take in everything around him.
”someone fooling around in a Wizards home sounds foolish indeed, I guess it is good for a bit of excitement for the people to watch Wizards battle a conjured menace.”
“ my name is Dietrich. Dietrich Thorston. Before I go I should warn you. They still have not captured the murderer in Mirabar, they believe he has not fled and they still know nothing of the motives, so keep yer eyes open on your way. Safe travels friends. When you return to Luskan, look me up in the warehouses near the Red Dragon trading post, in the Mirabar district….you know, the good side of town.”
” I may have work you might be interested in.”
with that, he gives a short bow and a waves and begins to head off down the road.
Bjorn briefly weighs the information. It's unlikely the man's lying, but if he is, then the only explanation would be that he's the killer. And that's a pretty nice bounty... Unable to quietly communicate any schemes, he simply searches Dietrich's person for clues that he might be using a magic disguise. [Investigation:] 13
(Dietrich...Diet-rich... lol. Good thing we didn't jump this guy. Judging by his name he'll have much more to offer us later.)
"You stay safe as well," Vars says with a nod. "We will keep you in mind Dietrich, and thank you for the warning. Sounds like we have our work cut out for us." He gives his comrades a meaningful look, mind returning to the wanted poster. "If luck is with us, we will meet again in Luskan." He smiles wryly, returning the traveler's wave.
Sorsha gives Dietrich a nod and a quick smile as he leaves, then climbing up on the cart again. "Of course we know nothing about this work he mentioned but I think it will show more profitable than scamming or robbing him." She says to no one in particular, then leaning back in the cart, waiting for Barnacle Ruhm to report back.
"Aye, and we can always scam or rob him later." Bjorn grins in the ambiguously joking way that's quickly becoming his trademark.
He tosses Aegweth into the cart, where it wriggles between the tents and out of sight. "I think we're just marching along until Sorsha's new friend finds us. Right? Anyone know any good songs? Or philosophical dilemmas?"
"So Bjorn, since we seem to have some time, whats your story? How did you come to be the fun-loving mischievous guy you are today?" Asks Sparhawk, wanting to know more about his traveling companions.
Sparhawk stays alert to an ambush but friendly toward the fellow traveler.
