Bjorn rolls his eyes at the display of manly fortitude. "If you're planning on getting all your bones broken -- which you are, by the sound of it -- it might be polite to ask Frangipani, who's the only one here who can patch you two up."
He looks to Vars. "Think you can get eyes on the gang before they get eyes on us? I know a spell that can render you invisible while scouting. You might even be able to snatch some of their weapons, if you're up for a challenge."
Vars grins, “Definitely, I’m up for the challenge. And if things go badly, Remember that annoying fog cloud those bandits used in Abernath’s house? Well I’ve got a spell that’ll let me make one of those.”
Sparhawk looks at Bjorn, as if his feelings got hurt. "Hey, my mysterious friend. I know what I'm good at. The old trusty sword/ occupy the biggest bad guy strategy works well. It allows the rest of the group to do what they are good at without getting killed. I've certainly had my fair share of broken bones." He rubs his still broken nose, as if remembering a past fight. "Vars, that cloud thing could come in pretty handy. Frangipani, I know I can count on you. He winks at Vars and smiles at Frangi. "Captain?"
Sparhawk looks at his friends, "unless anyone strongly disagrees, it would be my honor, nay.. I say my duty to take on Bernard directly when we meet. I will use all of my skills (he grabs the hilt of his sword) and goddess given abilities to disable him." (Paladin: Vow of Enmity, Diving smite, and hunters mark....I'll need support/ healing). "As I believe he will try to surprise us, when I see him, I will attack him immediately. Of course feel free to pelt him with arrows and spells, but it would be nice if I didn't get hit by those powerful spells that we are aiming at him." He smiles, looking at Frangi.
"Eh, I'm just busting your chops. I think you're crazy, but I must admit, you're still alive, and so am I." Grinning, Bjorn looks to Sorsha. "That critter of yours, you think he can find Bernard on his own? And can he warn us before we get too close?"
[Invisibility lasts an hour, so we could be pretty far away/hidden and let Vars sneak around. If we were ten minutes' walk behind, he'd have 40 minutes, which seems like plenty of time to do it carefully. The way I understand it, anything he picks up will turn invisible. Though, even if not, I bet with Ruhm's distractions he could cause some problems for them.]
"That is certainly what I'm hoping. Perhaps wait a bit with your magic yet." Sorsha responds to Bjorn before turning to the others. "I don't mind you all planning out what you will do if we run into these bandits but understand that we know nearly nothing about them or where they are yet so any plans you make now will have to be changed depending on what our scouting will tell us. When we do fight we will do so as efficiently as possible, we're not here to show bravery or garner glory, just to finish our mission, okay?"
Sorsha listens and then turns to the crew as she sits in the cart. "Alright my tale will be for another time I can tell you, when we finish this business with Bernard I promise you I will tell anyone who would care to listen all about my dark past. Now, about these bandits, I suppose we can't rule out Bernard is one of them. We should check it out but I would much prefer us to have the jump on them rather than the other way around so I will send my friend here ahead again to try to find out where they are at." She says, then turning to Ruhm again. "Sorry again about your keg Ruhm, but I would appreciate some more scouting now." She then turns back to the crew. "Any other thoughts?"
Sparhawk, who studied the bugbear in the monster manual at Abarnaths, grabs some paper and quill, and sketches the bugbear pic he saw in the book. "Hey, Rhum, did the big guy look at all like this thing?" (Note, bugbear in monster manual, and he emphasizes big pointy ears, and hairy.)
"A mile ahead, shouldn't be too hard to find them, and perhaps some of them are hurt from the encounter they had with the wagon. The question is, how do we surprise them? Bugbears are apparently known for doing surprise attacks, and often have goblins and hobgoblins working with them."
”heh heh, looks more like a bear than a bug, but yea, that be the bung hole who shot me keg”. Ruhm sets off up the road…then off to the side in the bushes and disappears
Eberk thinks for a minute. “Before we jump into the fight, I will need a moment. I can support Sparhawk, but it’s best if I don’t have to focus on that in the heat of battle.”
[Sounds like we're marching on up the road until we're about a half hour from the attack site, and then if Ruhm hasn't gotten back to us by then, we probably start scouting with Invisibility. Right?]
Vars nods to Bjorn, "I agree. I do not want to be jumped by this group. Especially if they outnumber us, it would be far better to take them out with stealth."
(Sounds like a good plan to me.)
"Can you use invisibility on the both of us? I have no qualms about going alone, and for simply scouting and possibly swiping some weapons, it might be better if I'm by myself. However, it might be beneficial to have another person with me in case of opportunities. ...if only there was a good way to communicate while invisible..." He trails off, thinking.
"Not sure what you mean by culling the hoard before we show up Sparhawk?" Sorsha says still sitting in the cart. "If someone scouts ahead, be it Ruhm, Vars or Bjorn, they should not engage these bandits by themselves. We will make a concerted attack once we have the necessary intelligence reports. It's more important to keep the bandits unaware of that we're coming for them so I would prefer we just observed them at first."
All the people of the caravan have packed up and heading out to continue their journeys. Some heading toward Luskan and others heading towards Mirabar and other destinations. You notice the Northman heads towards Mirabar at fairly good clip, easily passing you and the other travelers.after about a mile, there is a path that heads up into the mountains to the west and the main body of travelers take that route, heading to colder times. you travel the winding road for about 1/2 an hour more when Sasha is able to pick up the connection to Ruhm. “ Captain, the bearbug is no longer here. He took the wagon, but incredibly they just dumped out its cargo, it’s in a big pile next to the dead other gang…some big guy just rode by, didn’t even glance at the pile of goodies..see you soon”

Eberk steps forward. "I will be right behind you and I'll do everything I can to aid you."
Sparhawk grasps the dwarf's hand tightly. "I knew I could count on you and the blessings of the moon maiden."

“Agreed”
Vars nods, "I agree as well. It is to soon to start casting spells." He adjusts his pack on his back, and continues forward with his companions.
“Aye aye Captain”

“Good point”
( are you guys traveling while plotting or plotting before you head out?)
( assuming your on the move)
