Frangipani would smell and hear the ocean from the northern tunnel. once inside the tunnel you see signs that the water makes it into here on occasion as there is some small tide pool puddles here and there.
( marching order for inside the tunnel. It is wide enough for two-abreast if you want)
Frangipani scampers along looking happy and occasionally flopping down into a tidal pool for a few moments before scurrying on.
Perception:3
There is no attempt at Stealth.
Caught up in the bliss of the nearby ocean, Frangipani doesn’t perceive anything, except for hermit crabs, barnacles and seaweed. The tunnel goes on for quite a distance, with some curves and bends. The smell of the ocean and the sound of the waves are very soothing.
Sparhawk also not a stealthy fellow, follows Frangipani, and keeps on eye on Eberk (helping if needed to move him along with his good friend Bjorn).
"Hopefully we'll find a way out of this place. Let's move forward for a 100feet or so, then if we don't find anything, we'll head back to the main chamber and try a different direction."
Sparhawk is quite frustrated. There are cursed items attacking the party, Lir is gone, they seem to be in a tropical arid location near the ocean. He just wants to get the group back to the tower and on the road to Mirabar again. He feels like they are very off track, and have several other missions to accomplish.
Eberk has now gotten hold of his thinking process again as the ocean sounds muddle the voices somewhat. You all have moved approximately 60’ down the tunnel when the stone ground beneath your feet seems to turn soft ( like play dough) and you find it difficult to move forward or backward. The voices cackle, not in your mind but in the tunnel itself. One of the larger tidal pools seems to rise a bit and begins moving towards you, one big glob. To your horror you see many eyes of different types open up, looking at you with hunger. And then you notice the mouths. Large ones, small ones, humanoid like and animal. The thing uses some of the mouths to pull itself towards you while the others continue the mind obstructing chatter.
( at the beginning of your turn roll another wisdom check dc12, on a failure roll the d8)
Sparhawk looks on the monstrosity with surprise and disgust. "Of all the things in hell... what is that?" He pulls out his javelin and takes a shot, expecting it to not do much and draws his sword.
While Sparhawk intended to throw his javelin he instead finds himself running in a Random direction ( roll d4) using all his movement though impeded by the gooey stone floor
Frangipani’s ice knife slams into the monstrosity inflicting freezing pain on the creature. All it’s mouths wail in agony, will one saying “ help me….the curse can never be lifted….”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bjorn catches up after having retrieved the strange book from the chest and tucking it safely into his bag. As they press on, he theorizes that Lir may have found his way to the sea and wandered out to drown. "Kinda seems like he wants to, don't you th-- whaaaat is that?!"
WIS save (if it's a check instead of a save, subtract 2) 17 and the d8 3

Once again, the living weapon and its shadowy twin leap into action to defend Bjorn, and he follows them forward to deliver a quick slash before falling back (using Mobile). (If there's no room, then he throws the Shadow Blade instead, probably suffering half cover against the monster. Same stats for the attack either way.)
Shadow Blade: 13 for 17 psychic damage. (Advantage if the target is in dim light or darkness.)

Bjorns shadowy blade strike deep into the monster, momentarily splitting it almost in half before it reshapes itself
Sparhawk runs north, directly into the monster. Which tries to bite into the tasty treat wrapped in shiny packaging.
Attack: 5 Damage: 22
then it will spit a gob of blinding spittle at Frangipani which explodes in a flash of bright light. Make a dex sav dc 13 or be blinded for a turn. Same for anyone that happens to be within 5ft of Frangipani.
