"Hey Bjorn, you still got those lock picks?" Vars calls over his shoulder.
Looking to Sparhawk he says, "It's locked. We're going to have to open it by hand unless Reginald's 'servant' can use lock picks."
He looks to Reginald, "Why don't you have you're invisible man poke around in the armoire if it isn't locked. It it is, there's the book shelves you can look through...can also search under the pillows..." He trails off, turning his attention back to the footlocker.
Frangipani resists the urge to jump on the bed and wanders over to look at the paintings, as she passes the armoir she spits at it a spray of green lumious mist.
" Just in case..."
Poison Spray: DC 12 Con Save or 6 Poison Damage.
The green mists settles onto the armoir, after a moment or two the corpses of a spider and several small bugs drop to the floor.
looking at the paintings you can see most are portraits of a strangely clean shaven dwarven chef with a rather large nose. The title plate under a particularly ostentatious one says “ Chef of Kings”
One of the posters catches your eye in particular. It is a poster advertising the world famous Abernath the Infernal and his carnival of wonders. The image is of Abernath conjuring a large insect while in a dynamic heroic pose. You see at the bottom, the poster is signed “ too my true friend, Greygor, the best Chef in all the lands- Abernath “
"Maybe we can find some more clues about who lived here and why. Its a very strange home." He looks at the group. Looks around, see what you can find."
Unusually cautious for an armored half orc paladin, Sparhawk grabs the pole and carefully pushes the carpet to the side, hoping it doesn't move and there is something underneath, like a key.

Frangipani ran over and grabbed Sparhawk by the arm dragging him over to look at the posters and paintings.
" This is house of famous Chef!! We must find recipes!! That is most important thing!!!!"
She tried to remember if she had heard of Chef Greygor...

Yes, Frangipani would have heard his name mentioned at one time, probably from her mother
Unusually cautious for an armored half orc paladin, Sparhawk grabs the pole and carefully pushes the carpet to the side, hoping it doesn't move and there is something underneath, like a key.
As he pokes the carpet, it wraps tightly around the pole. There is nothing underneath it except for bare rock that looks to be stained by long dried blood.

[@Reginald, that sounds like the 3.5e mechanics for concentration. Is that what you're referring to?]
"Ah, this is where the loot will be. Let's get into that chest." Bjorn sets Aegweth down on the bed and unwraps the lockpicks. "Cooked for a king, lived in a hole in the ground. Dwarves..."
Dex(Thieves' tools): 18
If he has to step on the carpet to reach it, he does, but not before waggling his eyebrows at Sparhawk in a manner suggesting a dare to be the first to touch it.
Sparhawk looks at Frangipani, "I have been searching for a good meal for many moons. If we find a famous recipe, it actually may be worth more than treasure to the right person!" Sparhawk says seriously, also happy that Frangipani found something she is excited about.

Bjorn skillfully picks the lock on the foot locker. Once the chest is opened, inside you find a large oak spoon wrapped in silk cloth. The handle of the spoon is covered in carve dwarven runes. The head of the spoon looks like the open mouth of Moradin, at least it looks similar to other depictions of the dwarven God. It is also remarkably heavy for a spoon made of wood ( approximately 2lbs) Dwarven -spoon-of-deliciousness
"Hah! Take a look at this." Bjorn holds up the spoon to the group. "It feels like magic. Maybe this chef wasn't even that skilled, and it was just the spoon's doing. Quite a scandalous secret if true." He laughs. "Frangipani, do ye want it? I wonder what would be worth more -- selling the spoon, or blackmailing the chef's descendants?"
Sparhawk seems very pleased with this development. "Grab the signed poster, lets give the huge wooden magic spoon to Frangipani. We expect a delicious meal when we are done with this dreadful place. I'll help clean dishes."
"Ok, unless theres anything else, lets head downstairs. Mind the trip wire."
When you get to the end of the hall there is a t intersection. To the left it goes about 10’ before ending in a wall, to the right there are a couple of flights of stairs.

"I may have nightmares about Frangipani here beating me to death with this wooden spoon, ah....fond memories of my childhood of some of the nuns I had to deal with."

Sparhawk doesn’t see any indication of hidden areas around the bed, but does notice the sinister looking carpet in front of the bed

"I wonder if Frangipani could hit someone with that thing, its pretty large!" Sparhawk seems fascinated by it.
(has the additional benefits of being used as a mace in melee combat, granting +1 to hit due to its strangely heavy weight.)

Frangipani nods vigorously about having the spoon.
Reginald turns towards the left while chanting softly to indicate which direction he votes for.

Lir looks at Sparhawk, then at the wall, then sceptically back at Sparhawk. He shrugs, bends down and picks up a stone, then flings it at the wall.
