Frangipani excitedly heads over to the dumb-waiter, now that she knows who the place belongs to she is eager to further explore the kitchen and pantry.
once you get into the kitchen area you can see countertops, a large oven against the south wall. To the East is an open doorway into a pantry where the dumb waiter resides. Near the Eastern wall is a large Statue of Greygor, with his right palm held up high, like he is examining something or holding it up heroically though nothing is there. The base plate says “ Greygor the great, Chef of Kings, King of Chefs”
the statue reveals how truly large his nose was. the North wall there is an opening into another room, brightly lit. on the counter top next to the oven, there is a large book sitting open.
Frangipani excitedly heads over to the dumb-waiter, now that she knows who the place belongs to she is eager to further explore the kitchen and pantry.
Inside the pantry there are 3 large barrels, and miscellaneous jars of spices, along with a variety of empty crates and baskets that may have vegetables and such at some time
Sparhawk looks around, still expecting something to attack. "Hum, I've seen statues like this before be a mechanism for a door. Lir, come help me check this thing out." He will go and start trying to move the statues arms, turn it, move the nose, head, etc.
Vars scans the room, "This... is really nothing like what I was expecting." He eyes the statue, "You don't suppose there was supposed to be something in its hand? Perhaps that would open a door...or reveal something else?" He shrugs, realizing he's grasping at straws.
(assuming Sparhawk and Lir dont find anything), "Hum, I like how your thinking Vars." He looks at Frangipani, "Would that big spoon of yours fit in his hand?"
"Lets examine the book as well and if the spoon idea doesn't work, try the book."
Sparhawk catches the spoon with his bullish strength, he has to remember to be a bit gentle. He places the spoon in the statues hand, as if the statue is holding it. (If it is clear when doing this that the spoon is not meant for the hand, he tries the cook book.

Looking over the statue thoroughly you can see the arm is supposed to move, but you cannot make it do so. You also notice the nostrils of his nose are hollow tube.

Sparhawk is also mindful of what page the book was open to. “Perhaps if we make something from this book with spoon…?” He looks around. “If we can’t figure it out soon, we’re moving on. Any ideas?”

Yes, there is a doorway into another room.

Spices go in bag....
She carefully tries to open the barrels.

Lir obliges and casts Enhance Ability/ Bull's strength on Sparhawk -
"Bull's Strength. The target has advantage on Strength checks, and his or her carrying capacity doubles."
(Have Lir do more perception checks, I think his may be the best in the party)
Vars scans the room, "This... is really nothing like what I was expecting." He eyes the statue, "You don't suppose there was supposed to be something in its hand? Perhaps that would open a door...or reveal something else?" He shrugs, realizing he's grasping at straws.

Lir takes a moment - perception 22
Frangipani comes out and tosses the spoon to Sparhawk before going back to the barrels.

Inside all three barrels are filled with pepper
Looking over the statue thoroughly you can see the arm is supposed to move, but you cannot make it do so. You also notice the nostrils of his nose are hollow tube.
Explain what you do with the cookbook
Frangipani finds another pouch and fills it with pepper before rejoining the others at the statue.
(Try putting cookbook in his hand, blow some pepper in the nose) “open to ideas here, I think this does something.” Sparhawk reads the plaque out loud
so will keep spoon in hand, put cookbook near eyes.
Lir's eyes light up and he recommends a recipe for a pepper fish dish to Frangipani in Druidic (unnecessarily, there's nothing secret about it).
Sparhawk is also mindful of what page the book was open to. “Perhaps if we make something from this book with spoon…?” He looks around. “If we can’t figure it out soon, we’re moving on. Any ideas?”
He will also read the recipe out loud from the open page, if in common.
