You press forward, carefully down the hallway, the torches light accenting the eerie ambience of the place. As you near the door, you see a small alcove with a painting to the left. There are 3 crystals embedded into the walls surrounding the painting. The painting itself looks identical to one you saw at Abernaths house on the upper floor in a similar alcove. The door next to it is partially opened.
“Watch out for that painting. If it’s like the one at his home, it will transport you!” Sparhawk looks for his missing friend , Vars. “Poor Vars looked at the one at the house and disappeared. He ended up at Irongrasses tower.”
Ufeli opens the door to the room and calls in for the Master. There is no response. As he enters the room he gasps in dismay.
” what is going on? All the cages are empty!”
When you enter the room, you see it is quite a large, rectangular room with dozens of cages of various sizes along the wall. All the doors are open and the cages empty. There are some work tables with some books and papers and a shelf or two with various animal husbandry gear on it. There is a single door on the eastern wall that is ajar. you can all hear the faint whispers still, occasionally one of them will sound a little louder. It comes across as a pleading before it fades away again.
Ufeli looks even more worried as he looks upon the empty cages.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sparhawk opens his heart and mind and releases his Divine Sense, trying to see if he can detect anything. He will also use perception to see if he can see anything unusual on first glance "What is usually in those cages Ufeli?"
Perception: 24
Sparhawk looks at the crew. "Abernath kept some journals of what he was working on at his house. Keep on eye out for one here. We may learn more of what is going on."
(OOC: Can anyone see a person who is invisible, ethereal, etc?)
Ufeli tells you this room was where the critters were kept for observation and short term studies. That Chult had been a huge source of new living things to study. All these cages were full just a few weeks ago and he didn’t see anyone remove or release them. He also tells you there are usually some assistants working in here, he hasn’t seen them for at least as long as the Master had been in here.
your divine sense indicates a steady source of righteousness faintly to the south, through the walls likely in another corridor.
Sparhawk shares his sense with the crew, gesturing toward the south. "Something good and magical that way, perhaps a spirit or something?" "anyone want to enter this room and look around?"
"Wizard assistants aren't native to Chult, so don't worry. I'm sure the caged beasts don't have a taste for their flesh," Bjorn says grimly, looking over the cages.
"A good spirit? At this point, I'll take any 'good' news I can get. Let's... Go meet it?"
"Righteous. Not good. Believes in being right above all else."
(Casts Resistance on Sparhawk - "[o]nce before the spell ends, the target can roll a d 4 and add the number rolled to one saving throw of its choice. It can roll the die before or after making the saving throw. The spell then ends.")
Sparhawk looks at his friend. "Hopefully, its not one of those types. As you will quickly learn by associating with me, I also don't tolerate those that abuse their power for their own selfish means, regardless of what 'label' they put on themselves."
As you go through the door into a long hallway you can see there are a several smaller windows where you can see outside the tower. You are very high up and through the cloud cover below you you get peeks at the the ocean below.. you get to another door, this one looks like it was forced as the hinges are bent inward. You can see the remains of spray nozzle trap and a few bones from what must have been one of the creatures from the cages. It appears to have been doused with acid of some sort. Looking into the room you can see it is hexagonal in shape and at the other end is an arched doorway with no door.
"Hum, anyone see anything here?" Thinking there could be another teleport area, Sparhawk throws part of a cage through the archway to see if anything unusual happens. He continues look for anything out of the ordinary and looks for a journal or books in this area.

Frangipani refrained from commenting about the taste of wizard, or their assistants, flesh....

Sparhawk continues forward slowly, looking and hearing for anything that would give him a clue as to where Abernath is

Frangipani looked back and forth between the painting and Sparhawk with a pained expression then sighed and did what her captain ordered....
“Let’s find Abernath first, Frangipani. Could be a quick way to report back to Irongrass. “

Eberk steps forward. “I can take a look. Maybe it is friendly with Selûne.” He slowly opens the door and takes a look inside. “Hello?”

OOC: I always have Faerie Fire and See Invisibility.

Investigation6
Lir bends low and tries to detect the presence of one of these creatures that has been mentioned. The sight of acid-pitted bones is a concern.

Frangipani refrained from commenting about the taste of wizard, or their assistants, flesh....
" Acid is fun."
Frangipani throws a little Guidance his way: 4
Frangipani bent down next to Lir, " Smell anything?"
