"Bjorn, your usually pretty clever with this stuff, where the heck are we, and what would you advise is our next move?"
"Well, here we are in bloody Chult, I guess." Bjorn runs a hand through his black hair in frustration. "Dietrich knows someone here. We ought to find out who, and where they might be. As trusted comrades of his, I'm sure they could be persuaded to help us settle in to wait for him."
"The bad news is that I don't think we'll be finishin' the job for old Irongrass. And we can say goodbye to old Iron-Ass and the meatheads, also." It occurs to Bjorn that the captain's still charmed (at least for 20-30 more minutes, probably). He walks along and makes a new pitch. "Say, Cap'n, I knows this is against yer sort of code, but consider... We don't have much with which to bargain here, in this strange land, right? We got some gold, stamped with the faces of some foreign lords though, and some blades, but enemies could well outnumber us. If it comes down to it, remember there's a fancy sailin' vessel an' a full crew of capable working lads comin' here. We can find out where they'll land. A ship and her crew's worth a lot in any country."
Then, having opened with what he suspects will be seen as the greater of two evils, he says, "or, we could even out the odds, so to speak. That book's got strong magic in it, magic that makes a man more powerful, if he can bear to use it, that is. Seein' as we're alone in what may be enemy territory, we would be wise to take every boon we can get -- an' then we wouldn't have to think about sellin' out our friends, eh?"
“Yeah, the problem with jungle rivers is that they tend to attract animals and snakes, but we would end up in an identifiable location.
“He looks at Bjorn, we’re gonna write deitrich a message and let him know we are here. The book killed Abernath. We will not use it but it will provide proof to Irongrass. Other than gettin paid by Irongrass, that mission is over. No one looks at the book.
I know the name of the contact here as well my friend.
we’ll head to the lake and then decide next steps.
"I can just see it now. 'My gratitude, young Sparhawk, for informing me that you and your small, likely starving crew is carrying my treasure. I'll be sure to send some ambassadors to cordially take it from you at swordpoint and leave you all to die penniless in the... bloody goddamn bug country.' Begone!" He swats angrily at some insects.
"My advice, say as little as ye can to Dietrich. He ain't needing to know we're here, nor that we're in trouble, least not yet. If we're lost, then knowin' where to go is worth money, see? But if we're just excited to hear about his master plan, well, he can't wait to tell us how smart he is for free."
“We can wait a few days and try to get our bearings”
”But eventually, we should let our two employers where we are. It is possible that Irongrass will assist us as we have the information he seeks. Dietrich might be pleased we are already here ahead of schedule and put us to work with his contact."
"ok crew, our job is to survive until we find civilation. I'm thinking there are many predators, especially in the jungle area. I'm the most concerned about snakes, so if our casters can prepare spells to help with that, as well as illness and disease, probably smart. We can use these leaves (Sparhawk cuts a few palm leaves, tilts them like a funnel, to collect fresh rain water. That's critically important.) "I'm thinking we'll move at a slow pace our first day and see how things go."
"We'll wait to send Dietrich a message until we know where we are, Agreed?"
We have a volcano on our right to help us navigate, unless trees are too thick
we head north, keeping the volcano on our front right if we can. Can use our shape changers to take a peak above canopy to help keep us going the right way.

( it will be up to the wisdom/survival roll of whomever you choose for the day. Canopy will be3 too thick most of the time)
“Agreed. Get our bearings then make contact.” Eberk looks around the unfamiliar landscape. ”I can take care of our nightly shelter and as long as we make it through the day, I’m positive Our Lady of Silver can provide for us.”
Frangipani watched the preparations with interest, " You know I can make water from the air right? And Lir can make food......and we can both hunt in our other forms."
" I think north sounds good."
" Do you want me to guide you?"

Lir attempts a nature check for anything he may specifically know about Chult, but he's never been here before - 9
He knows the sea has sharks, the jungle has trees and that's about it!

“Now, what should we write to Dietrich?” Sparhawk takes out the scroll.
"Um, Help STOP Help! STOP HELP!! STOP Yours respectfully etc. etc."
“Lir, what is it?” Sparhawk asks his strange friend”
Frangipani looked quizzically at Lir...
Lir shrugs, his university communications degree once again proving to be useless.
Sparhawk looks at Lir
“my impression is we can write more than that. I intend to have Dietrich tell Irongrass our situation”
”then, Hopefully Dietrich can respond back with where to meet him”
(ooc I think the scroll tube is more like a magical vacuum tube for messages)
"I can just see it now. 'My gratitude, young Sparhawk, for informing me that you and your small, likely starving crew is carrying my treasure. Sparhawk looks at Bjorn
”everything ok my friend?”
”you seem….different.”
“We can wait a few days and try to get our bearings”
”But eventually, we should let our two employers where we are. It is possible that Irongrass will assist us as we have the information he seeks. Dietrich might be pleased we are already here ahead of schedule and put us to work with his contact."
He looks at the group, somewhat wearily,
”what do the rest of you think?”
Day 1:
weather- 20 degrees cooler than average, with a light rain beginning and little to no wind

“That would be very helpful Eberk. As always we are grateful for all your goddess provides. “
