“As I said, I think we should give him the book.” Eberk looks to Bjorn. “I hope my trust will be returned and you will listen if we have suspicions that the book is corrupting you.”
”I’m off to find a library and maybe revisit the temple.”
Sparhawk pulls Bjorn aside as the group disperses. (FOR BJORN)
"Bjorn, I'm in need of your assistance with a matter this evening. I'm asking Zaal to help with a task at midnight. Kind of a job interview of sorts. I'd like you to be in disguise or invisible outside the all-faith chapel at midnight. I am undergoing a ritual with a fellow paladin to...tap into more of my divine powers. (level 6). I don't really want you to interact at all with us. Just observe and see if the man is trustworthy."
If all goes well, Zaal will simply escort me back to the inn after I complete the ritual.
Your job is to see if Zaal completes his task and proves to be trustworthy. Also, this matter is highly private, so your discretion in not sharing with the crew would be....mandatory."
"Sure. Planning on usin' those hallucinatory herbs to talk to the gods or somethin'?" From the skew of his eyebrows it's clear Bjorn thinks whatever Sparhawk is planning seems foolhardy, but he knows he'll never talk the man out of it. "I'll keep an eye on ye. And if he tries some funny business?"
Sparhawk laughs. Finally starting to feel better after a long night. (For Bjorn)
"Thank you my friend. Like you, it takes me a long time to trust someone. We've been through a lot, and I trust you with my life Bjorn. Zaal....I'm not sure of his motives yet but I want people on our crew that look out for each other. Again, invisible, just observing but please don't interfere with my task, even if it seems....disturbing to you. We'll see if Zaal can complete his job, has other associates we are not aware of (such as competition to our mission as the Baron did mention other groups), and lets see if he can simply bring me back to the inn, bodyguard style." (OOC: DWAR: Include Bjorn in the other thread, but no other nosey PC's)
"Now that we are alone, anything that I should know about Lir?" He smiles. "I would like to gain an understanding of your goals. I know being a hired mercenary is not very meaningful to you, nor is it to myself."
"No. Nothing has changed. The Drowned God will rise. The surface fall. I serve him. He demands I follow this party..." looks about.
"I understand serving my god. It is an honor to me that you serve your god and that his will is for you to join us. This is why I will go back to Luskan and fight Grindall. It is my gods will."
"We have been companions on these missions for quite some time. Yet, I feel like you have not found your purpose, or at least, I don't understand it yet. I wanted to take some time to ask you more as your leader how I can best serve you?" (As usual, the half-orc is both serious and somewhat awkward in his mannerisms)
" Purpose? Same as everyone. Eat, sleep, hunt, enjoy."
" How you help? Lead us interesting places, keep me alive."
" That is your purpose. Perhaps in future you will provide another purpose, I haven't decided yet."
“Yes, I expect those strange dead plant creatures. Let’s make sure we have supplies and rations for the trip as well as protection from the numbing smell of those plants. But, I’m not loving opening up a queens burial site.”

Frangipani- after helping Bjorn move the cart to the market you wander through the square looking at the variety of beasts being used, sold and traded. Roll a d6 to determine how Many new shapes you pick up and I will list them for you.
Bjorn sets up shop to sell the rest of the goods. Roll a D12, d20, and d100 after spending the day in commerce.
Whenever everyone heads their separate ways, Zaal lingers long enough to have a brief conversation with Sparhawk before heading out himself. He pulls the thin fabric of his headband down over his eyes to help protect them from the harsh light of the sun. As soon as he steps into the streets, he takes to the shadows and disappears... likely to find a quiet rooftop to finally get some real rest before whatever activities come with the night.
during the day, Frangipani sees many interesting critters, both large and small, but the antics and presence of these three hold her attention the most.
Everyone is out and about leaving you to much appreciated alone time. In your mind you hear the voice of Dagon. He directs you to search and find a jade stone approximately the size of your fist. He tells you he will give you further directions once you have a suitable stone.
It takes several jewelers to fine a piece of the appropriate size. It costs you 200gp, but is a very fine quality jade.
in your mind you are shown an image. Dagon wants you to carve the image exactly as shown onto the jade. The image is a pictographic rune, resembling one of faces Dagon has revealed to believers. Once you have the image correctly carved, you are directed to christen it with virgin blood.
you will need to roll play 4 segments of carving, a dex roll dc 12 for the first cuts. Dc 15 for the 2nd, Dc 15 for the 3rd and DC17 for the final touches. You will require jewelers tools for this endeavor. Once complete, you will have proficiency with the tools if you don’t already and you will have apprentice level jewelry skill. You will be able to make low level jewelry and cuts of gemstones, increasing raw gem values on resale.

To the dismay of the jeweler, Lir, counts out a mountain of copper and silver coins - rounding off the remainder with 10 gold pieces. Then throws in 25 gold pieces for a set of jeweler's tools.
Afterwards he retreats to a private place to attempt the will of his god.
First, he casts Enhance Ability on himself, to grant advantage with Cat's Grace.

Sparhawk responds to Lir.
"I understand serving my god. It is an honor to me that you serve your god and that his will is for you to join us. This is why I will go back to Luskan and fight Grindall. It is my gods will."
Lir seems to stare right through you.
Then nods.
" Purpose? Same as everyone. Eat, sleep, hunt, enjoy."
" How you help? Lead us interesting places, keep me alive."
" That is your purpose. Perhaps in future you will provide another purpose, I haven't decided yet."
Sparhawk seems surprised by Frangipanis response.
he recovers his composure,
“I am glad you have chosen to be at my side, or, more accurately, have allowed me to be by yours.”
"Yes. It is good. We need more food for the trip. Will there be dead things in the stone garden house, do you think?"
“Yes, I expect those strange dead plant creatures. Let’s make sure we have supplies and rations for the trip as well as protection from the numbing smell of those plants. But, I’m not loving opening up a queens burial site.”
