"Giggling? Behind us? What trick is this? Do you think its an illusion of the cave, an echo trickling through? Or that our new friends have circled around us?" She continues to walk with the group, and fine if Garth wants to go left again, seemed to work out last time. Wonders if they'll find another lit lantern or not...
Trying to discern any new tracks or any other telltale sign of others around, she keeps her eyes peeled.

Salamir shakes his head. "I am not sure how, but yes behind us again", he answers. "And do any of you smell that? Nasty", he says motioning to the West tunnel.
“Perhaps it’s a trick to disorient us or spirits of those long past…. To early to tell, let’s be careful.” Javier readies himself with his spell book in hand, just in case.
Garth pauses in thought as Javier speaks, then shakes his head. "I'll be damned if it's not cave sprites. Mischievous little beggars."
He looks around at his companions, "I'll bet that's what it is: They like to confuse and annoy, nothing more. Impossible to catch though...flit about, disappear. Look like tiny gnomes. Sometimes help, sometimes hinder, always annoying."
He places a little food on the ground and then, with another shake of the head, he moves off down the tunnel.
"Ah! See, told you, just friends!" Belkaria looks a bit relieved at this information even though she holds the fact she thought they were friendly the whole time.
As Garth moves on, you turn and take the leftward path. The giggling has stopped and all is quiet in the mineshaft. Belkaria has been examining the passageways, looking for the cause of the sounds, but she is observant and notes something. After walking about 30 feet to the west in the shaft, she notes the distinct smell of scat. Nothing specific, but a funky not so good smell coming from ahead. Olive finally notes it as well and starts squirming in Javier’s pocket. The passage looks like it opens up into a chamber about 20 feet ahead of you. You can’t see anything other than rock and the mine shaft ahead of you.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Garth you see the passageway open up into a room that appears to be carved out of the rock, it has higher thirty foot ceilings, it appears to open into a circular shape room that is open toward the back and curls around to the south beyond what you can see. There is an odor you detect, smelling what the Belkaria noted earlier.

Salamir, from where you are you cannot hear anything.
Belkaria, feeling a bit better knowing the giggling was just sprites, continues up to Garth and checks out the cavern for herself. Seeing nothing that appears strange other than a large open cavern with a hideous smell, she cautiously walks into the room sort of following her nose, "Come on Garth, aren't you curious what this smell is?" She continues to watch to the South since that area is beyond her vision.
Javier trails the group closely a few beads of sweat run down his face as the suspense of their investigation continues to build in his mind. He swallows with an lightly audible gulp as he covers his nose with his scarf. He keeps an occasional eye on their rear to make sure no surprises were to come at them as he makes his light a little dimmer.
“so we continue inwards then? Looking for more clues and hoping to find who’s responsible. This smell is very unpleasant but perhaps it means we’re on the right track…let’s just hope it’s a small horde of goblins yes?”. He whispers to the group reassuring himself with his words more than anything.
As you creep inside the chamber , trying to make your way to the back side, you whisper to each other and are fairly sneaky moving in, however what you don’t see above you is a group of creatures that are hungry for your blood! Those that are a little further away from the edges realize that the smell is coming from the black goo you are stepping in, scat of the creatures that swoop down from the ceiling.
Let’s roll initiative! ((Will roll for the group in the next post.))

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
You see 6 of these creatures suddenly release from the ceiling and start flapping around the chamber, they are approximately 25-30 feet away in the air above you.
1. Javier, Hlin
2. Strix, Garth
3. Belkaria, Salamir.
Javier, perhaps receiving some alert from Olive looks up and sees them first. Javier and Hlin are up!

Hlin lets out a sigh "That is good to hear, I thought a creature was stalking us, intending to do harm"
Garth snorts, "Still might. If we're lucky, they wont. Mostly we leave 'em be and hope."

From the entrance, what does Garth see?
(( He's still walking ahead ))
Salamir carries on with the others, happy that Garth has some experience of their situation, as it was completely alien to him at the moment.
"That smell is getting worse, we must be coming to an animal den, or perhaps this is where the goblins are", he whispers to the others.
He stops as he spots Garth reach the entrance to the next chamber, keeping a good distance back so as not to reveal him.
As always he is relying much more on his hearing here.

Garth responds to Belkaria, his voice low. "No. No I'm not interested. I've done my fair share of cleaning latrines to know what they smell like."
"If you want to know what made it, I'd suggest a horde of goblin arses. Or one goblin arse over a very long time. Take your pick."
Despite his words, he tries to creep around the edge of the room in an attempt to get a better sense of what is there.
