”Good to see you back in one piece, Gorm,” says Logan, getting up and stretching. Looking over at the elf, he asks, “So, what does this magic ring do, Thandril?”

"It is a ring of spell storing. It currently has a powerful spell of Fireball stored on it. A magic-user can cast spells on it until it reaches its maximum storage capacity. I believe that it can hold up to spells of the fifth circle, or any combination of them up to that level... "he says showing the mithril band in the palm of his hand, offering to all to see it and for anyone to take it. "Most important thing is the wielder doesn't need to be a magic-user, anyone, once attuned to it, can use it. "
( For the shake of time-passing this short rest would be enough to attune to it, even by Gorm if you decide she is to keep it. I know we are bending the actual flow of events and/or rules but I think it is smoother this way. The ring is a ring of spell storing up to lvl 5 with a fireball at the ready. )
“Wasn’t even looking for it,” Gorm advises. “Figure we can’t mine if there are more of these creatures hunting us. And there is more of these creatures… I don’t think they noticed me though.”
"well " says Thandril " I doubt we can mine with that creatures around and if they had find a way to pass the runes the dwarves put to stop their advance, I must admit that this is an excellent work and I can only guess that it was made by the owner of the arm we've found, as we said we must try to stop them. Shall we try that or we go back to the surface and try to warn the people and the authorities?"
"We don't have the means to lock them in magically so seems to me we really have to choice but to press on unless we discover there is too much here for us to handle," Gorm says determinedly. "We could try to get a rest here if anyone needs it but the quicker we get started the quicker we finish."
Dr A looks up briefly from his study of the ring and says “ahbut I’m almost there, a little longer and I’ll have mastered the intricacies if this device!”

Loremaster - A tangled skein (adventures in Eriador using the LOTR5e game system)
Just a few more minutes passes and they are ready to go.
Gorm lead them towards the tunnel and they crawl to the intersection she saw the little kruthiks going to the right. Some clicks of the creatures talking can be heard in the distance in that direction. In silence, they agree to proceed to that direction and when they had just taken a few steps on that tunnel they suddenly hear a scream. Someone is in pain down that corridor. The tunnel describes a turn to the left and it seems to descend slightly.
The party follow the sound of the agonizing scream even when it has ended down the tunnel and they finally reach a sort of balcony that opens to a much larger chamber. Inside this chamber they find a lot more of this creatures. They move around the floor, in the walls and some even appearing from tunnels dug in the celign. Across the chamber they can see dozens of ovloid objects that seems to be eggs. As they see they can see one of those eggs appearing from a bolbous and large soft adbomen that leaves the egg in the ground, covered by drool and organic material. Folling this huge abdomen they see it pulsing and contracting as they see a big creature, with several arms and a great horns at the top of her head. This large creature seems to be attached to the walls and celings by quitinose, almost traslucent filaments. The light in the chamber comes from silvery veins in the walls and ceiling, that seems to have a faint glow under their own light source.
The scream must had come from a poor deep gnome that now lay in the floor, his chest and belly already being devoured by small new-born Kruthiks, the eggs just opened. They can see that there are more corpses and more hatchlings but the corpses are unrecognizable by now. The sounds of the creatures feasting on the dead are horrifying.
The smaller kruthiks tend the eggs, while they can see some of the bigger ones, like the ones that attacked them, around the chamber. Two of them are approaching the eggs, dragging along another body. It appears to be a slim, yet fit, body of an uncouscious female. She wears a black leather armor, has dark skin and white hair. Her captor put her in a wall, across the chamber from the huge, egg-laying kruthik and hold her to it by secreting some of the quitinose filaments. She has elvish features and moans in pain as they leave space for the eggs that start to shake in front of her.
They all see this happeing under their own light and as some of the smaller, closer kruthiks turn from tending the eggs to look up towards them they realize that they had forgotten to turn it off, revealing their position, at least to some of them.
“Now would be a good time for a fireball,” Gorm thinks aloud as she draws her weapons. Her eyes scan left and right trying to take in every possible threat and realizing it’s probably impossible.
“Hack our way to momma!” She asks Logan but she’s already moving in that direction…
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Logan:
Reacting in shock, Logan says, “I cannot abide this abomination, I will draw their attention.”
The warrior races in as he draws his blade, moving into the chamber next to the unconscious woman and trying to slash the fibers holding her prisoner. Next, he smashes his shield into the wall of eggs threading to hatch and feed on her. Logan ends his turn taking up a defensive stance in front of her unconscious form.
(Move action to get in place, action to slash at the fibers, bonus to slam into the eggs—shield master shove).
Rolls as needed:
Initiative: 1
Longsword: Attack: 10 Damage: 9
Shield/Athletics: 20

(Logan found the ring. Gorm just looked at it briefly then returned it. Gorm would have no desire to have it…)
Logan:
”A good ring for you to have, Doctor A—don’t you think?” says Logan after the ring is identified, suggesting the tortle take (and attune) the ring.
”Is everyone ready?” asks Logan, looking at Gorm, “Did you happen to find any silver?”

Had it been a person Gorm may have rushed forward recklessly, unsure she holds back and does try to maintain stealth… Stealth: 6
