Moving to one side of the creature, Logan slashes at it with his sword, then backhands it with a quick shove from his shield, hoping to knock it prone.

Gorm dodges the things attacks even as she draws her swords. Shifting her position to try to move into flanking position opposite of Logan, Gorm attacks with little more than a grunt. (Not sure if we're using flanking or not? I forget which games are and are not sometimes, sorry. But I think she may have advantage due to prone anyway?)
Scimitar Attack: 2 or 19+7 for 26 to hit, for 11 damage.
Bonus Action off hand Scimitar Attack: 6 or Nat 20+7for a 27 to hit, for 8 damage.
Logan’s sword bounces against the quitinose armor of the creature, but it cannot withstand the impact with the shield, falling to the ground. Gorm doesn’t lose time and takes advantage of it, slashing trough the more soft skin at the belly of the beast, leaving a deep gash. Black blood spills from the wound and the beast screeches in pain. The elf jumps forward, a slightly curved sword materializing in his hand, the silvery edge erupting in grey and blue flames as he launches an attack trying to finish it.
The elvish sword cuts true and deep and the long neck of the beast is almost severed in two.
The black ichor pours out of the fatal wound a couple of times before the heart notices its already dead and stops. The fight has been short but violent and now that the beast is no longer chittering or screeching the silence falls upon the team again like a heavy mantle only broken by their agitated breaths.

“Ahbut I’m not actually sure?” Dr A says as he bends down to have a closer look at the now dead creature - survival roll = 14 or a result of ‘6’ if nature was the more appropriate check before saying “ahbut I’ve got no idea!”
"Seemed like a giant bug to me," Gorm says with a bit of indifference. "A squashed bug now. If it chased out the dwarves then there's probably more of them. One didn't seem that big of a problem..."
”But more could be, yes,” concludes Logan. He suggests, “Let us go down a different tunnel in our search for silver, then, that we may not disturb more of their kind.”
Going over to the table, he picks up a sturdy looking miner’s pick and asks, “Any preferences?”

The joke obviously fell flat but runs along the lines of how do you confuse an Irish miner. Put him in a room with four shovels and tell him to take his pick.

Logan:
The joke completely lost on him as the adrenaline from fighting for his life slowly fades, Logan continues down the eastern tunnel, though he waits for the light source to follow him.

Gorm chuckles, at least as much from Logan missing the joke as from the joke itself. Meanwhile she picks up a couple mining tools and sticks them in or on her pack for now before continuing to follow.

"What is that thing...and why would it be down here in an abandoned mine?" asks Logan, half thinking to himself and half questioning others.
