Once they left the ruins, Logan has no problem in following the trail of the wolves. He is even able to determine that the tracks have a day as much. So the attack should have been taking place after Thandril would have started, the forge of the weapons. They cross the woods in a mostly northern direction and uphill. The trees start to be sparce, they are still in the woods, but the foliage is not a dense as it was near the elven ruins.
The trail leads them to one side of a hill, where a stream borns of the side of the slope forming a short of concave hole in the terrain. Thick roots from the trees above hang down and provide a curtain before what seems to be the entrance of a cave, with the stream pouring out the rocks in the ground.
They think they can easily enter the cavern, but Gorm sharp eyes detect at least four wolves lingering around the entrance and the stream. On is laying on a flat rock near the water, another one is licking his own pawns laying on the ground giving them their back. The third is stting near the entrance of the den and the last one, and the reason why Gorm pulls down Logan to avoid detection is above the entrance, in the other side of the elevation, and it is looking in their direction, ears up, as if they had hear or sense something.
Pulling Logan down Gorm signals for him and Doctor Arbutaveyu to keep silent! She then does her best to urge them to stealthily back up a safe distance before they can hushedly discuss the situation...
"Can we even do this?" Gorm earnestly, but quietly, asks. "Can we even hurt them? From what Thandril had said it didn't sound so..." The Blade Dancer pauses to listen and watch to see if there movement or noise had drawn any attention. Only once satisfied that it has not does she continue. "From what he said we'd be better going in with a lump of ore with which to bludgeon them with than with our own weapons."
"I don't know how much progress Thandril made, but perhaps there is something silvered or mithril at the forge he was working on that we can use," says Logan hopefully.

The party retreat to a safe distance, or at least they try, for Dr. A breaks some low branches with his carpace. Gorm looks back with her heart skipping a heartbeat. She sees one of the wolves to raise their head and look sharp in their general direction, ears raised. Fortunately the wind, and perhaps Lady Tymora herslef, is on their side and, after a couple of long, tense seconds, the wolf lays their head back to rest.
”Let’s check the forge where Thandril was setting up. Maybe there is something there that will suffice as silvered weapons against the werewolves,” suggests Logan as they pull back.
Once they are clear of the wolves, he will continue to head back towards the forge unless there is another idea presented.

Gorm agrees with the plan. From what she's heard there is no sense in getting themselves killed fighting these things until they at least have a chance to hurt them back.
“Ahbut while I have some ability to hurt them from a distance, I agree with Logan we need to find some sort of silvered weapon!” Dr A says as they make their way back to the gorge.

Loremaster - A tangled skein (adventures in Eriador using the LOTR5e game system)
The party make their way back to the elven ruins, and following the trails of the wagon they have no difficulty in finding the forge.
The building is in a better condition than most of the rest of the ruins, probably due to the fact that it was built to whitstand the works of the forge. It has no celing though, but there are no trace that it has ever had one, as if the elven smiths wanted to work under the shadows of the leaves of their trees or under the light of the stars during the night. The building itself is a constructed much like a tower, with a circular shape. The forge itself is on the north side, directly opposite to the arch of the entrance. To both sides there are secondary forges and work stations, made of polished wood that seems to grew from the walls instead of being constructed. All the working stations and the forge itself has elvish runes carved and it is, indeed, a piece of art itself.
The forge is still hot, the embers still lit. There are no signs of fight in the building. But they do find blood that lead to one side of the forge. There, unmoving, lays the eagle that accompanied Frenevir
Gorm sets about securing the area - Searching it to make sure there are no people or creature about then looking for ways to make the forge more defensible such as blocking the door and such. The lack of a ceiling is troubling as it provides easy access to any determined to enter, how high is the opening where a ceiling should be? She is of course searching for Frenevir the whole time but she suspects this is a futile search, she cannot imagine he is around and alive but not tending to his creature... But with the forge still hot she suspects he has not been gone long.
Dr A examines the dead eagle before doing whatever would be appropriate (I don’t know and pretty sure Dr A wouldn’t either - he is after all an academic) for a dead eagle.

Dr A. checks the eagle only to discover that the bird isn't dead, at least not yet. She has been severely wounded but she is stiill alive, if barely.
Gorm looks up to the to of the walls. Maybe in the past it reached the same height, but now it is irregular varying from 40 feet to 30 feet in some places.
Logan doesn't find any piece of remaining mithril, least a weapon. Maybe some slags that confirms him that the elf has been working on the forge, but nothing that could be useful as a weapon. .
“Ahbut these may not be normal wolves were chasing! Remember our friend did say they had issues with lycanthropes! “ Dr A reminds his colleagues
