Akyan removes his hat before he eats some of what is presented to him. He feels uncomfortable with so many eyes on him, but he refuses to let that discomfort show. He had not been planning to sneak off right after the introduction, since he thought it might be suspicious if all of them immediately vanished. When Mina takes up her dance, he has an idea. If Mina's trick worked, he was hoping that at least Tamryn and Lyndaran would be able to sneak away. Telepathically, he lets Tamryn know what he is thinking. "Mina and I seem to have their attention at the moment. I'll wait for another opportune time to leave, you two go. It may be better if we do not all disappear at once anyway. Try to stay together though. That way we can all keep in contact."
In order to add to Mina's show, Akyan will cast Faerie fire centered on Mina. Mina and everything within 20ft of her will be outlined in blue light. Perhaps this is her goddess's blessing?
After doing this, he forces himself to smile, something he does not usually do, and focus's his attention on Mina.

Lyndaran looks towards Akyan when he sits and takes one step in his direction before catching attention but then Mina starts her performance. Seeing an opportunity Lyndaran sneaks past the curtain in a quick movement.
( If this makes sense, if not he will walk towards Akyan and sits with him when the ritual starts...
Kyrsa/Elkira gives Jhaarteal a knowing, and tired, look before turning to their host. She keeps her expression and voice cool and formal, and her posture almost stiff in the manner of a military leader. Hands clasped behind her back, she inclines her head just enough to be a bow as she says, "It is an honor Master Donegall, to be here today. We thank you for having us, and look forward to our dealings together." She lifts her chin, making a show of inspecting the room, "However, as Master Correal stated, I am his head of security, and I can't help but notice the...laxness of this dinner." She pauses, keeping her cool tone as she says, "You must understand, Master Donegall, that I wish no offense by this statement..." She takes a step nearer to him and lowers her voice so Jhaarteal/Correal can barely hear, "Quite the contrary you see, for I would assume you have your own out of sight security, in case of any mishaps. If not, well... I truly do not see anything going wrong tonight. Why should it? After all. However, Master Correal here is rather...concerned, about his safety. He is like this wherever we go, no matter the setting." She sighs, raising her voice to a normal volume, "Would you mind filling me in on your defenses, so I can put his mind at ease?" She offers a small, weary smile as she says this, inferring that she really sees no purpose to the question, but it is one she has asked many, many times.
Loris turns his attention to Kyrsa, noting her military posture and direct speech. He does not seem displeased. The corners of his mouth droop slightly when the "laxness" of the dinner security is mentioned. Jhaartael mentions sensitive documents, at which point Loris looks around until he spies another human, dressed in black leather armor with a gold star embroidered on the left breast. "Sheriff!" he bellows. "Sheriff, my guests are questioning your security measures! Could you please come and explain to them how you are keeping us safe?!" And with this, he turns away from Kyrsa, and back to Jhaartael.
(I assume the detect thoughts is meant to read only surface thoughts and not probe deeply? If so, Jhaartael detects the following: "... tempting documents?.. I wonder what is in those? Could I use it to my advantage?...
Competitors? Perhaps I should have invited other import/export guilds to my party as well, I could get them to outbid each other for my business...
These elves seek to intimidate me with their fine clothes and alluring accents... but I am no bumpkin! I am a Donegall, descended directly from Digby himself, and I drive a hard bargain!...
Still, it would be lovely to see where they come from... the foods... the fashions... Oh? he wants a safe place to store his papers, eh? I could have the sheriff show him the lockbox in my office, and then sneak out during dessert and have a look at them... I wonder if there's anything incriminating in there..."
What in tarnation is that elf doing?? Is she praying?... is she going to... dance on the table? My word, such primitives... such... intoxicating movements of her body.... oh my."
Tymothy, the sheriff dressed in black, approaches Jhaartael and Kyrsa and starts to introduce himself, when Mina begins her attention-drawing routine. The sheriff, like everyone else in the room, stops talking, his mouth gaping open, as they gaze at the sea elf.
Upon discerning Loris' surface thoughts he communicates to Ki/Akyan "Our host has a lockbox in his office, which apparently the sheriff knows about."
Correal looks pleased at the Loris' prompt summoning of the Sheriff, "Thank you Master Loris. It would be wonderful if your security could keep the guild papers safe. It is a great step in the direction of our profitable relationship to be able to put such trust in you. It would certainly put me at ease and then we could enjoy this feast properly."
When the Sheriff begins to communicate his security measures, Correal will transfer his detect thoughts to the sheriff.

Not one to look a gift dance in the mouth, Tamryn attempts to sneak past the curtains as well. He mentally says to Akyan,"You and Mina should go into theater after all this. You'll make a fortune."
Akyan remains sitting at the table watching Mina. "Alright, that means that is probably not where he's keeping the document's we are here for. I'll inform Tamryn so he and Lyndaran know."After responding to Jhaartiel/Correal, he sends a message to Tamryn. "Jhaartiel says there is a lockbox in the office. The sheriff knows about this one, so it probably doesn't contain what we are here for..." He pauses for a moment before responding to Tamryn's comment, "This is theatrical enough for me... Besides, I wouldn't know what to do with a fortune."
Lyndaran and Tamryn find themselves in a long east-west corridor along the northern wall of the building. There are several shuttered windows along that wall. On the south, another corridor branches off about 30 feet in, and further along there is another door on the southern wall.
Tymothy, a tall, tanned human, who moves with the alertness and precision of an experienced fighter, is jolted back to reality by Jhaartael's voice and stammers,"...yes...uh...security...Security! Ah yes, Mr. Donegall here has asked me to ensure the safety of the guests and their valuables this evening..."
Seemingly out of habit, as he speaks his eyes survey you, pausing momentarily on Kyrsa, noting the peace-tied wooden sword, and then moving on.
[thoughts] Not that the greedy varmint cares a whit about the safety of anything other than himself and his pocketbook
[out loud] "... Anything that you are concerned about safeguarding, you may entrust to me, the town sheriff. Mr. Donegall has given me the only key to his private lockbox, where I am keeping anything that needs to be securely stored this evening."
[thoughts] Hmmph. He says it's the only key. He'll probably remove something from the box and then try to blame me.
[out loud] "I have two deputies patrolling the outside of the building to guard against any ruffians attempting a heist or a robbery. And of course, I am here, so you need not have any fear as to your safety."
[thoughts] Nothing's going to happen to these people on my watch, but I have to figure out how to move against Donegall. He has given me free reign of his office and home. Those damned letters must be well hidden, or else he keeps them on his person. I'd throw him in the cell and search him myself, but he has the people's support with all the gold flowing from that damned mine... speaking of which, I wonder where he keeps all that gold, he hasn't asked me to provide any security for his own valuables...
Turning to Loris, he bends and in a low voice says, "Mrs. Humphrey is outside, asking to speak to you, again."
[thoughts] That poor widow-woman... Her husband died working in his mine. The least he could do is forgive the mortgage and let her keep her home...
Loris hisses quietly through clenched teeth, "Get... rid.. of... her!"

I signal to Lyndaran to stay at the curtain for a moment. Continuing to stealth, I make my way to the corridor, not going into it, just stopping right before the corner. I look for traps and secret openings along the way. If I find nothing, I listen at the corridor to see if I can hear people nearby.

No traps or secret openings are noted in the main corridor. No unusual noises, other than party noises floating down the corridor the rogues have just traversed.
Kyrsa listens intently as the sheriff speaks, her eyes never leaving his face. As she listens she thinks, "This is the sheriff who we are trying to help here? Why would Donegall give him the key? Clearly this is not where he is keeping the letters. ..****y two deputies outside of the building...they shouldn't be a problem for our stealth team then. What is this about a Mrs. Humphrey? It seems our host doesn't care for her, I wonder why..."
She nods to Tymothy, "Thank you Sheriff, I'm sure your deputies, and yourself of course, are more than capable of handling anything that might threaten this fine party." She glances briefly at Jhaarteal, "Surely this would put Master Correal's mind at ease. ...but..." Her eyes flick again to Jhaartael as if uncertain, "Never mind, keeping the documents safely locked away, somewhere out of reach of sticky fingers, would also be helpful. Let this be a symbol of our trust." She gives a small smile, mostly directed at Donegall. "I will accompany you there, if that is alright. I never let Master Correal out of my sight, and he never lets those documents out of his unless they are in a safe place. Surely you understand this?"
"I wonder...if things get sticky, perhaps we could get Tymothy on our side. It is him we are trying to help for that matter."
The sheriff's eyes turn to Loris, who gives a small nod of assent. Looking back to Kyrsa, he says, "That would be no problem at all, ma'am. When you are ready, please follow me and we will stow your belongings in Mr. Donegall's office."
As he prepares to conduct you beyond the curtain barrier, he casts one last curious look in Mina's direction.
Tamryn attempts to turn the corner too quickly, striking his large nose on the wall, causing a burst of pain and his vision to fill with stars. His perceptive skills are currently unreliable. He does manage to see that there are two doors, one on each side of the corridor, and that further south, the corridor makes a right turn to the west.

Everyone gasps and moves back as the faerie fire takes effect, outlining Mina in colored fire, as well as several nearby party attendees.
