Screaming out in frustration on her second miss, she uses her ki again to deliver a fury of blows..
Attack: 28 Damage: 7
Attack: 24 Damage: 9
And unless Neferox refuses, she picks up the limp body of Vin and lays him over the back of the great hound. "Take care of him, there are healers on ground level, but it sounds like there are also still enemies. Be careful."
And if she can hear the ruckus going on outside of the arena, she looks over the roofs edge to see if she can tell what it is.
Blinking and sputtering as he is drenched in blood, Gewyn clears his eyes as his body returns to its normal form. Adrenaline pumping, Gewyn runs past the collapsed redcap toward the madcap standing over Iver. He rehooks the scythe onto his belt and begins playing his pipes as he draws nearer. A smooth sweet lullaby that takes all of his breath control to keep steady as his heart hammers in his chest. As he gets within reach of the madcap, the notes turn sour and painful to hear. Gewyn reaches out and places his palm on the horrid creature's arm.
Órga roars in pain and lashes out at the Madcap that stuck him, lunging at the thing and trying to bite it in half...
Bite Attack: Attack (1 or 14) +5 so 19 To Hit ; 8 Damage
Sam, outraged that these things would dare attack his lion, roars himself, oblivious to the own attacks he took, and swings out first at the enemy that hurt Órga before moving to the one that hit himself if he can...
Elthana delivers her one successful blow but it is not enough to fell the creature, Neferox moves away with Vin and down to the second floor. Gewyn however is successful in his magic, the Madcap stops screaming and seems to reflexively clutch its head with its bladed hands, realising that something is terribly wrong with itself internally.
Órga chomps down on her adversary who begins to lose shape but retains its presence, just. Sam however misses his first strike against the same Madcap, but when whipping his maul around for another attack, his maul hits true, enough to fell the creature that dared to strike at his lion.
before the Madcap can further assault Sam or react to Muir, it explodes outward losing its form, Neferox stands in its place having left Vin on the second floor and come running down the stairs to attack. (29damage) She immediately starts growling and grabbing at Muir's clothes, pulling at the druid to follow her up the stairs. Muir sees the anger in her eyes, a desperation that tells him she likely won't take no for an answer. At that moment Hirsi's eyes lazily flicker open, she turns slightly to hear the noise of fighting outside which is now either calming, or moving away from the door.
Roof;
Elthana stands before the last remaining Madcap, and the struggling body of Iver. The two guards pounce upon their final adversary one slicing at is with their rapier, the other grappling at it, the Madcap reflexively struggles but not enough to break free as Gewyn's spell holds fast. It takes no action, wincing in pain and screaming at it's internal agony.
Having enough of the screaming, Elthana takes one look at the remaining madcap in the clutches of the guards. She jumps, spins around and kicks his jaw in a way that the pressure of the kick spins his head fast enough that it breaks his neck.
Once the last of the enemies has been dispatched, she looks to the guards and Gewyn, "Iver is hurt, any of you able to help him?" She then peers over the roof's edge towards the noise below, seeing if she can tell what is making all the racket.
The force of Elthana's kick is enough to not only break the creatures neck, if it had a bone structure, bit completely rock it's constitution. It loses form and splashes to the floor, smelling sickly and strongly of Sulphur, it's remains drench the dwarven guard as she is now grappling nothing.
The elven Guard gives Elthana a Kurt nod but is already moving toward Iver, a touch at his neck and a couple of words is all that are needed to wake Iver up, he sits, coughs up blood and then assesses the burns on his face and body with some degree of horror, his armour now cooled pulls at his burnt skin as he moves.
As Elthana moves to look over the edge to where the sounds of fighting were coming from she sees the road that the group took to get to the Trade Post building. Bodies stain the snow, leading from the alleyways where the group discovered the sleeping recaps, all the way up to the door, and then north from the door and up into the town. The bodies look to be the deflated remains of redcaps, each having had their balloon like mushroom hats emptied of their gory contents. Elthana counts at least eight.
Gewyn's legs begin to shake as the adrenaline leaves his body following the fight. He winces empathetically at Iver's state. "It's good to have you back with us."He wipes his knife on his clothes, sheathes it, and extends a bloody hand to Iver to help him up, wincing only a little at the fresh wound on his shoulder. "And the others? I think I saw Vin go down. He needs help."
Elthana turns from the view over the edge of the roof and looks at the remaining ones on the roof. "C'mon, we need to get back down to the rest. Something happened out on the path, and I don't feel good about it. Any of you need help descending the stairs?"
As they head down, if Vin is still on the 2nd floor, she'll help grab him and get down to the rest of the group. Accepting Muir's help, she smiles to him and nods, "Thank you." Once healing has been doled out, she tells the others what she saw from the edge of the roof. "From what we saw before, I didn't see anything that would have attacked the redcaps for their blood? Would these madcaps have done that? And there was the mention of a hag by the last redcap on the roof? Not sure what he meant.."she trails off, not sure where to go from that. Just glad the giant hadn't decided to join them as well.
As Nef pulls on Muir's clothes he casts Aura of Vitality He heals Hirsi for 14 before being dragged upstairs by Nef. As he gets upstairs he sees everyone battered and bruised but Vin knocked out. He quickly goes over to Vin and provides him with 42HPs if healing. Muir walks to Elthana and the aura of healing that surrounds him coupled with the twinkling chalices shining brightly on his body provides her with 20 hps of healing. He sees Iver looking near death so he moves over and allows the aura and twinkling to heal him as well for 32hp. As Sam comes upstairs Muir heals him for 11HP and finally Muir heals himself for 14. He sits for a moment catching his breath and waits for everyone to gather themselves before moving to free the prisoners.
The group collect themselves on the second floor with Muir, the only floor not saturated in blood and the tell-tale signs of combat. It seems that the fighting that was happening outside of the door has travelled further up and into the town, either that or the trees are still providing a distraction. However here and now, after such a fast and vicious attack filled with blood and screaming, the quiet is deafening.
As healing magic washes over Vin the young man sits up startled and scared flailing his arms like he's being cut still. "Ah! I... I..." they seem to gather their senses right as Nef launches onto them licking their face. Vin splutters and says "Ack, Nef! Ask! I'm okay! I'm okay. Really." Vin holds her back and pets her. She seems relieved and pushes on Vin with her nose to help him up. As he gets up he checks his armor and clothes noting multiple gashes in his equipment as well as signs of blood over them. He looks to those gathers and says "Sorry. I was... just a burden." Nef doesn't often growl at Vin... in fact, no one has probably seen her growl at Vin. She growls at Vin in vehmenent disagreement. Whatever she said it doesn't seem to help Vin much. He just gives a weak half smile and says "Yeah." He continues to pat Nef who looks at Vin worried and then looks to Elthana and gives a small quiet woof towards her. Vin looks surprised at Nef and then at Elthana. He nods and says "Nef says you helped save me." Nef looks to Elthana and wags her tail in agreement. Vin blushes and says "She seems to like you now."
As talk goes to the next step and Vin notices the quiet. he says "Is it just me or does it feel like we have to go now... or never?"
Sam smiles and nods at Muir as he feels the healing aura do it's work... Then pauses as Órga, who limped up and stood by his side, doesn't look one whit better. Sam steps forward and starts to say something but then restrains himself and holds it in. Instead Sam steps in front of the lion and kneels down to face him. His hands go to either side of Órga's face and bury themselves into his main. Sam gently grabs and shakes and rubs in a playful manner.
"You'll be fine," he assures Órga in a hushed but certain voice. "You are the fiercest amongst us and if anyone can lick their wounds and carry on it's you! Am I right? Am I right?"
Órga gives a bit of a yawning roar, their jaws widening enough that it could almost appear they intended to swallow Sam's head in on bite... But at the end they poke Sam with their nose and then give him a big, sloppy lick upon the side of his face. Friendly reassuring gesture or wondering if the blood splattered on the Half Orc made a good sauce? It's hard to be certain...
"Yeah, yeah... You're the king of this damned jungle!" Sam says with a laugh while giving his beast a shake. But not hugging the lion. No, no. That wouldn't seem very rough and haggard Half Orcish now, would it? Se definitely no hug. Just some scritching and shaking and all...
"And kid?" Sam calls out to Vin, turning to stare at him. "Shut up." Sam pauses a moment to let that sink in a beat but continues before Vin can question or object.
"You didn't win this battle single handedly? Well boo hoo. Guess what? You seldom will," Sam assures in a strong, authorative voice. "You know what? You also don't have to. You're part of a damn team. You rely on us. We rely on you. We cover up or fix each other's weaknesses. We win or lose together and we don't worry if everyone carried the same amount of water during every damned situation. If we're going to truly be a team you have to accept that. All of you. All of us... We don't look for praise when we help each other out, we don't need to appologize when we're the ones needing help. So listen to Nef... I'm.... errr, I am assuming they told you something like this? Errr.... What did Nef say??"
"But doesn't matter... Nef is part of the team too. Assuming she doesn't eat one of us in our sleep... So let's all just be a team and act like one, eh?"
"Where to next?" Sam asks when Vin sugests it is time to move.
((Actually... Question. Is this the building we wanted to take and hold? The specific building we thought would be defensible and hold up? 'Cause it sounded like maybe it wasn't holding up when being attacked below? Or I read that wrong? But anyway... Sam suggests they either move to the building that was, or if this is it and it doesn't seem defensible, perhaps we go free the prisoners and make plans as we go along? But if there IS a sturdy, defensive position we can grab... We should do that first during the lull.))

Vin looks to Sam when address and says "Yeah?"
He's a bit flummoxed when Sam tells him to shut up and to his credit the young man doesn't shy from harsh word. He tries to interject a couple times with "...but... it's not.... I just..." but Sam's big presence shuts him up in the end. Vin listens to the advice of how sometimes he's the one in need of help. He didn't expect to do this on his own but he also didn't expect to make things harder and need to be saved. He looks to Neferox who seems torn between two things. She looks between Sam and Vin with a very hard to read expression. Vin pets her head and looks to Sam as he asks what she said.
"She told me similar... that I'm not a burden. I didn't think I could do it on my own but I don't want to drag down the team Sam. Maybe it's just in my head I'm making things harder." Vin takes a breath to center himself and lets out a lot sigh as he adds "I guess between you two I'm not allowed to be too hard on myself huh?" Nef's tail wags then she stares at Sam. Vin also adds "Nef says, it's good I get it and should listen to you both more often. Also she wants me to remind you her name is Neferox." it takes Vin a moment to realize she didn't growl at someone using the name Nef instead of Neferox. He blinks a few times looking between Nef and Sam. The boy had to admit they both were very similar. He's just never seen her be patient with anyone before. Then the black hound gives a glare at the big cat Orga. She looks to Sam after this and seems to say something else which makes Vin smile a bit "She thinks you have terrible tastes in pets though."
When Sam asks where to next Vin seems a bit better emotionally and physically with that healing and he says "The prisoners is the next goal. Iver's team will be here reinforcing the building while we go get them and bring them here. It's way too quiet out there... lets be quick. Hopefully its just the after math of the battle of the trees and most of the redcaps went into the forests after them leaving the way clear." he motions like he's ready to go. Checking his gear and supplies then pairing up with Elthana to scout ahead.
“I don’t really consider them mine,” Sam says, eyes narrowed. He runs his hand reassuringly through Òrga’s mane a moment before continuing. “Not as a pet. But if Neferox wants to consider herself as such, Òrga and I are ok with it…”

Neferox growls at Sam clearly not appreciating the insult. Vin looks worriedly between the two but the black hound merely shifts their glare to the lion. Probably thinking of what they would taste best with. Vin looks to Sam and says "Umm... she says.... uhh... she didn't like that." Clearly not what she said but its a true statement all the same. Vin tries to interrupt the confrontation by saying "Let's give a look through the building before we go. Make sure we didn't miss anything. Come on Nef." The black hound stares a bit longer at Orga but follows and the pair search the building for any hidden enemies. Nef trying to catch the scent of any that might be showing signs of fear as they cower from her.
