The group discuss the benefits of each path in turn and after a minute decide on the upstream route. As the group walk the rocky bank of the stream that once carved its way through this great chasm they pass more webbing above them, more withered husks of spider's meals past, and more broken bones of the curious animals that must have fallen to their deaths from the precipice somewhere out of sight above them.
Ten minutes they walk, the chasm becoming thinner and the incline becoming more severe until they eventually meet the source of the sound of cascading waters, a waterfall, rushing over jagged rocks and pouring from a hole about 40ft above them. Vin and Elthana head up first, the icy water running over them as they ascend through it, drenching their clothes and their skin they push themselves upward, Vin almost loses balance and comes tumbling down, had Elthana not been there to support him. Neferox tenses up at the sight but is relieved that Elthana's dexterous skill, that Nef once scoffed at, was there to support Vin. Soon the pair disappear up into the hole, into the void, a moment later Neferox is shrouded in Vin's familiar magic and disappears too, a quiet but excited bark echoes down from the hole. Sam ascends next, his larger body providing cover from the downpour for Gewyn who quickly follows after him, making use of the half orc's body to buffer the water makes it easier for Gewyn to find rocky purchase in the darkness, It takes a little while but the pair ascend without difficulty or mishap, though Sam likely drank half a gallon of icy water accidentally. Muir makes his way up last, checking his surroundings before making his ascent. Breathing when a downpour is directly in your face is apparently made a lot easier when the use of an outstretched trunk into open air can be used as a snorkel, the darkness is an issue for Muir too as there is no way to light a torch under such a torrential onslaught, but slowly he finds his way to the top, where the group waits, in a small cramped cavernous plateau merely 4ft high and only slightly more forgiving in its breadth.
Lighting a soggy torch and pointing out one end of this cramped section of cave, Elthana draws attention to a pool, which seems to be the source of the water which then runs off past them and down to from where they came. The pool is also tight but dips under the end of the cavern and off to one side, Elthana explains that it is going to be a swim, 30ft, no surface, but at the other side the opening is big enough to accommodate them all and opens up to the location of the giant.
Vin casts invisibility on himself and eases into the water, once in, the displacement of the pool is all that remains of the boy as he makes his way forward, and Elthana follows suit, then Sam, Neferox, Gewyn and finally Muir. Popping up on the other side, the invisible Vin sees no giant, not directly. He wades out of the pool as silently as possible and moves across the cave to the other wall, the only sign of him is the water soaking into the ground at his feet. looking to the left of the water pool exited there seems to be an alcove. Elthana exits and quickly and silently makes her way there, followed by Sam and Nef, in the alcove there are wooden crates, stacked and full of odd fist sized fruits. Further left, around the cover of the alcove and down the cave, the group hear the grumblings of something massive, no longer a distant groan, now an audible language, accompanied by the scratching of stone. "Jegbli vakker! När Rynwell ärju kraftfull, sen jegbli Vakker!"
Vin sees this monster in full view from his position, Elthana and Sam peek around the corner to also see. Hunched over more crates, a Huge giant folk scratches a symbol into the wall, the same symbol that covers every available inch of this cavern, it's eyes bulge from its head and boils cover its skin, if this creature had once looked like the giants of old then it was severely deformed, mirroring the deformities of the mutated survivors, its limbs are grossly misshapen and differ in size and the word it grumbles tumble of of the side of a broken and misshapen jaw, it is without a doubt the most hideous thing most of the party have ever laid eyes upon, but for now, it is distracted.
Back at the pool Gewyn feels his way forward in the dark and stops when he reaches dry ground, the only sign of Muir is the tip of his trunk that luckily breaches the waters surface silently and draws breath, though the Loxodon appears to have had some difficulty in freeing himself from the tight underwater pass.
Sam stealthily heads over to Gewyn and leads him to the rest of the party. (Stealth - 17) While doing so he whispers to Gewyn "I think the hag's name is Rynwell. The giant is mumbling that when Rynwell is powerful he will be beautiful... Can we use that? Could you make the giant think he is beautiful to maybe get him on our side versus the hag? Maybe convince him she's been holding out on him to keep him in her service? Shhhh, wait here with the others... It looks like Muir needs help."
Sam then stealths back into the water to try to pull Muir out of the hole like the storybooks told of Pooh Bear's friends pulling him out of a tree full of honey... (Stealth again? 21! Stealth team my ass! lol... Strength to help him get out of being the water plug... 22.)
The cold water sending chills down Vin's spin somehow just reminded him of how dangerous their situation is. He summons Nef with a magical similar to how he summons other creatures making her appear next to him and avoiding her having to climb with paws and teeth rather then hands and feet. Once up Vin then turns his attention to his part in the mission, getting eyes on the giant while invisible. Luckily, there is no lack of shadows in these caves and Vin is quickly concealed from sight. Seeing the bulbous giant Vin feels a bit of pity for it. From what little he knows of the creature it seems obsessed with things being pretty and it could only be described as the anthesis of such a concept. Large wart like blubs sprout from the giant's back and body, a sicky purplish skin tone, mismatched eyes that seem to lack focus and oddly balanced limbs make the being seem twisted and punished.
As Sam whispers to Gewyn Vin smiles. It does seem likely the giant is a victim of the same hag. Perhaps even unknowingly cursed by this Rynwell. Vin gets into position to support whatever happens but doesn't actively attack. Mentally sending a message to his hound to hold and be ready for it Sam's plan fails. For now, Vin just hides in invisibility as he picks up a good rocks rock to throw and moves to position himself quickly somewhere that he can support if something goes wrong. Ready to blast with his magic if needed but also ready to support if they can reach the giant and convince it we can help. They just need to hope the giant doesn't notice them and maybe he can distract it a bit longer if the group needs a little bit of time.
Vin Held Action - If the giant charges his friends and attacks them eldrich blast, if the giant hears his friends and is about to notice them throw rock on far side of giant to make him look otherway.
Nef Held Action - Attack giant if it charges to attack anyone.
As Elthana gets into place to fight the giant beast, she overhears Sam whispering to Gewyn. Torn between taking down their adversary and the possibility of using the giant to try and get to the hag.. she pauses. She looks back to the rest and whispers, "Do you really think we can do that? Wait till you see what this beast looks like."
Following Vin's lead, she pulls out her longbow and holds her attack as well, waiting to see what Gewyn wants to do with the situation. If he refuses to try and convince the Giant, or if the Giant attacks them, either will trigger her action. So she waits and watches.
With Vin and Elthana holding their actions, watching and waiting, Sam moves over to Gewyn. The soft wet slap of Sam's clothes moving as he sneaks back cause the Giant to stop scratching on the wall, slowly it looks up and checks it's surroundings, peering towards the group. Vin throws the rock and sends it expertly past the giants head, clanging off of a seemingly full cauldron behind the giant. It turns, and screams out "VARÄR NI? KOMUUUT!"
“Say,” Sam whispers to Gewyn after the giant bellows out. “Skjule. vil hjelpe. Men redd.” Sam says each word in Giant slowly so hopefully Gewyn can catch the pronunciation… Sam hopes with Gewyn’s way with words and his own speaking Giant that they can persuade…
Wait. Is that right, Sam wonders. Or should Gewyn pick the words and I say them…?
Gewyn had had to learn an entire opera in elvish once in his younger days, though he didn't understand a lick of it at the time. Compared to that, the slow and simple cadence of a language designed for creatures with larger, slower mouths is simple enough. He can't see the giant, but he can certainly hear it. "If I can make eye contact with him in the light, that may help us tremendously," he whispers. "But for now I'll trust you're having me say something helpful"
He raises both hands and presses two fingers from each onto either side of his throat. When he speaks, his voice sounds entirely different. More like that deep booming rumbling the giant speaks in but with a soft, soothing undertone.
"Skjule. vil hjelpe. Men redd."
He then reaches for his pipes and brings them up to his lips, preparing to craft an illusion in the event that he hears the giant making a threatening move towards them.
Muir struggled through the tight water way but thankfully his trunk kept him from drowning. He's finally able to pull himself up to his knees and take a moment while the others deal with whatever is ahead
The giant looks around confused until Gewyns shows himself and shouts out.
"Hjelpe? Neh ingahjelpe! BLI rädd!"
The giant stomps toward the group 20ft and provokes all the attacks the group had held.
Vin fires off two blasts of warbling eldritch force energy, both slamming into the giants body and leaving sizzling marks, Vin drops invisibility as he attacks. Neferox rounds on Elthana from round the corner and faces the giant snapping and growling at it as it towers above, her bites sink into the giants legs, seeping darkened blood onto the floor. Elthana let's loose her arrows towards it, one of which hits the giant square in the chest, but doesn't seem to deter the huge creatures advance. The other arrow misses, just as Gewyn's illusion takes form.
Next to Gewyn a haggard woman appears, a little taller than Gewyn, her angular face looks sunken and sullen, through a swath of greasy black hair. She raises a blackened clawed finger to Gewyn which looks to be compromised of twisting blackened branches that wind its way up her arm and body under her ragged clothing and up to her neck.
At her point, Gewyn's form changes, boils and blisters cover his skin, his eyes bulge and one of his arms extend unnaturally.
"Rynwell! Vad? Vad gördu? Ja vi dö dem"
With that the giant swings a great club at Neferox, the mass of the oversized blunt weapon connecting with the majority of Neferox's body and sending her sprawling towards Vin.
(28, to hit, 19 bludgeoning damage)
The giant looks to Elthana near him, peering down at her, she feels something try to over take her, piercing her mind and body, she screams clutching her head (20 psychic damage) and she too begins growing boils and blisters over her face, her jaw sinks and leans to one side, one of her knees buckle the wrong way, and several of her fingers elongate to unnatural proportions.

Neferox takes the massive hammer in the side but gets back up. The effect definitely not as damaging as many would think. She shakes off the impact and charges right back at the malformed giant attempting to mangle their legs as best they can. She barks out something to Vin and then she dashes in as she growls into the darkness as she attempts to sink teeth into flesh of the giant.

Meanwhile, with the battle suddenly taking off Vin replies to Nef "I know. I know. You don't have to say I told you so!" Vin then summons a big ol bonfire right on the giant to illuminate the place allowing everyone to see and damaging the giant. Vin backs off a bit to make sure he stays out of range of the giant's club backing up 30 feet if able but otherwise staying within sight of everyone and providing support spells and artillery spells.

Neferox's Determination isn't knocked, but she seems to still be reeling from the attack as she bites back in response. Her teeth meet only air as the giant begins to hop on the spot, trying but failing to avoid taking damage from the flames licking around its feet and up it's legs.
Muir stands up and is about to ask a few questions as to what all the ruckus is but sees a fire light in the distance and a gruesomely hideously ugly Giant towering over Neferfox. He grabs ahold of his star map and lets loose a guided bolt (22 to hit 12 dam). He then begins to shimmer with an archer on his chest. He flaps his ears and lets loose radiant streaking arrows screaming towards the giant (26 to hit 10 dam). He then moves south near a crate and stays out of sight.
Sam, focused on the giant, fills with rage and anger and feels himself swell with a desire to do the thing all kinds of creative harm. (Bonus action: Giant’s Might! Sam grows to Large size…) Just as Sam is starting to move he sees the Hag appear and begin to somehow transform Gewyn into a mass of boils and ugly. Sam moves in front of Gewyn (just south of Gewyn as per map) and strikes out at the Hag with his maul…
First Maul Attack: To Hit - 29, Damage - 24
IF SAM HITS THE HAG he uses his Crusher feet to move her 5’ east (away from Gewyn), Steps toward her again and then continues swinging his maul at her again and again…
IF SAM SWINGS THROUGH AN ILLUSION then Sam shakes his head trying to clear it, growls, then rushes to the giant and uses the rest of his attacks versus them
Second Maul Attack: To Hit - Nat 1…. I’ll assume that misses.
Action Surge!
Third Maul Attack: To Hit - 20, Damage - 23 Damage (Great Weapon Master allowed me re-roll three 2s.)
Fourth Maul Attack: To Hit - 17, Damage - 22
Giant’s Might gives me an additional 1d6 per turn on a hit…. That would be on the first thing I hit, Hag or Giant - That’s 6 more damage.
If the Hag was an illusion and Sam moved on to the Giant then he still has the Crusher Feat to move it 5 feet… Sam will us that to push the Giant 5 feet south so hopefully he pushes it out of the Bonfire and it has to enter it again if it wants to come after Sam…
The maul sails through the image of the jag contoured and comes to a stop on the ground, Sam round on the giant instead, swinging wildly at first on his large form, but then managing to focus up enough to get some massive damage on the giant, it spit out blood in reaction and screams, "När Rynwell öppna jävelporten, då blirjag Vakker! du skase, för denhär världen kommer var fulare änJag" It is obviously crazed at this point.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Elthana continues to scream as her body deforms from the curse. As she catches her breath and watches the others attack the grotesque giant, she says in a slack-jawed, very un-Elthana way, "He can't do this to any of you luckily. Only has one in him for awhile." There is a brief moment where she notices the longing of the loss of it's own beauty, but the current state of things and what it did to her, pushes all of that out of her mind as she tries to assess her next move.
Hobbling further back away from it, 20' towards Muir, she raises her longbow again. The change of her fingers, make her fumble a bit, but the light up of the giant from Muir's attack, seems to help focus her and brings a new determination (cancels out her disadvantage)
The Giant reels from the rush of attacks, bellowing out in agony.
Gathering what strength it has left it takes two swings down toward Sam, the great club swing extends easily over the gap Sam made by pushing the giant away, and connects brutally with Sam's head, the force of the blow rushing air out if the half orcs lungs and causing a shocking amount of damage.
(Nat 20, for 29 to hit, 31 bludgeoning)
The Giant reels back again, lifting it's great club high and scraping the top of the cavern, this time it's swing goes wide, missing Sam but also bringing the giant to a knee, it coughs up blood onto the floor and splutters out;
"Jag skul återta detjag förlorade! det som togs ifrånmig, brutet och förstört! det kommer också att förstöra din plan! När portarna äröppna skul jagvara vakker i jämförelse"
Sam swings wildly back and forth with his maul, in retaliation for the attack he just took to the face, but his maul finds only air, as the Giant deflects the swings.
Gewyn puts his lips to his pipes and begins to play a soothing melody, willing the giant's eyes to close, and bringing slumber to the deformed creature's door.
Holding its head, and still looking at Gewyn, the giant falls to the floor, mumbling something intelligible amidst deep roaring snores.
"Alright, that should buy us some time," Gewyn says. "But not much. A minute at best. So now what do we do? He feels like a victim to me. But that doesn't necessarily mean that he'd be friendly absent the hag's manipulations."

The Giant reels back again, lifting it's great club high and scraping the top of the cavern, this time it's swing goes wide, missing Sam but also bringing the giant to a knee, it coughs up blood onto the floor and splutters out;
"Jag skul återta detjag förlorade! det som togs ifrånmig, brutet och förstört! det kommer också att förstöra din plan!
