"It sounds like we have the beginnings of a plan," kohso starts, "let us know what we can do to help, and once the realm knows that we are not the traitors that they believe us to be. We are ready to help, I will talk to our community and give them the news, this is a momentous time..."
At this moment the door opens again and hector returns with Elthana just behind him. He seems in much better spirits than when he left. "Uh, before any plans are set in crystal, I would like to help prepare our friends here with a visit to the good witch, it shouldn't take more than a couple of days."
"Knowing the target is one method, but also having an item associated with them helps too. It could be as simple as a picture to help a small amount, or a possession would work. The best would be a lock of hair or some part of them", Vin says, expanding on what Sam had offered regarding the scrying.
"Remember, it takes time to attune to the crystal ball, which may be quick for Shenoh, but magic works differently between our realm and this one. The potions for example. It should also be possible to scry on both Vox Tontritor and the Astral Dreadnought. It only takes a little time. I suggested the Astral Dreadnought because that will show the extent of the undead army. But it is true, knowledge of both would be best".
When Hector and Elthana rejoin them, and mention going to see the good witch, he nods his agreement.
"My purpose in seeing the Good Witch disappeared when we saw Morris, but if she can help Sam I am all for it".
"A couple of days?" Sam asks, quickly turning to look at Hector. "I err... Do we have that much time? We are looking to stop an kobold apocalypse here, after all...." Sam can't help but be a bit nervous... Witches. Days. It's not like he's feeling bad or anything... Hasn't been craving brains or walking around with his arms outstretched. This may not be such a big deal... And if Hazel was like most witches he wasn't sure he wanted this unknown one poking around his actual vittals and essence and all.
"It can wait..." Sam replies after Vin chimes in. "It's not like I'm spoiling or ripening or anything..."
"Am I?"
"But... what about the potions? The Clearvoyage one? Could that help with the seeing the Vox or the Astral thing?"
"wait, you're going to Shenoh? Ah well yes I suppose that would be the easiest way to mobilise the djinni. Wait how are you getting there?" Hector asks.
"Ömertyr has offered his services, though I do believe he will need a day to prepare his pack..." Kohso interjects to which Ömertyr gives a nod and then abruptly departs.
"There Is another reason to visit the good witch, I believe she may be able to help Elthana with her sleep issue, or at least offer us some better understanding." Hector explains
Elthana is about to protest that Sam needs to pipe down and we're going to the witch whether he likes it or not. But Hector's addition of another reason stops her in her tracks. "You think she could help that? Really? But if Omertyr needs a day or so, can we go to the witch now, while we wait?"
She wonders what all was spoken about after she stepped out, but sees that Serafina is still there and doesn't appear to be angry, so she lets it go, wanting to know the answer to the good witch... more when they were going, not if.
"So... this witch? Is she the good witch because she is good and a witch or because she is good at being a witch?" Sam asks, still not sold.
"Oh, yes... If it will help Elthana then we should set out," he decides quickly. "Whatever the connection between her and Shivaris we want Elthana in top for to fight it..."
"The Clearvoyage", Vin starts with a little grin at the mispronunciation, "is limited to somewhere you have been I think. I would have to properly identify it to know for sure though".
"And I think the sooner we sort you out, Sam, the better. We don't know when we will have another chance to do so, after all. Or what effects you will feel over time for that matter".
As the conversation winds down and plans are made, Hector and Serafina retire to their room for a discussion.
Kohso gives you all her blessing to return here and regroup once the journey to the good witch is complete. Mentioning something about Ömertyr's pack needing adjustments.
Waiting in the lobby, the more sneaky and perceptive of the group, hear sounds of apology and explanation, coming from serafina's room, Elthana's name is mentioned more than once but there is no yelling or argument this time, just understanding and agreement.
A few minutes later hector emerges with a backpack and asks if you are all ready to leave. This time he has no bodyguards, Kudd and Eaos staying to guard the mount.
And with that you all begin making your way away from the mount, away from the broken isle communities and travelling in the complete opposite direction of the lightning fields at the center of the shattering.
You journey takes you down the outside of this isle and across to the next shard. After y hours of walking through overgrown moss outcroppings, ruins of old communities that are yet to be reclaimed, and naturally forming crystal mountains and caves. You come to a stop outside of the mouth if one such cave, and stop to eat and have a short rest.
"So, there has been a lot of talk about Ömertyr's pack needing adjusting and such. How exactly is he going to transport us when we get back? It all sounds very mysterious", Vin asks Hector, having been wondering for some time during the walk. "And will there be room for Neferox?".
Walking. So much walking. They really needed to invest in horses... or mounts of some kind. Sam's feet are aching and he is grumpy over Muir delaying the marathon march by gathering bits and pieces of moss and crystal and anything that he decides is odd or unusual.
"Neferox?" Sam asks, surprised. "Why you worried about them now after having left them back at in the lobby with Serafina?"
Muir gathered anything he could get his hands on with the walk over. He described each one in detail to Sam from the colors of the crystals and possibly used to the mosses and how sickly some looked compared to others. Muir plops down on the ground and begins eating “Whew what an exhilarating walk. I feel like I could walk 500 miles and I could walk 500 more! Anyways any guesses why Nivara hasn’t attacked yet?”
Sam plops down next to Muir and pulls out some rations of his own, unconsciously pulling a bit off and tossing it to Neferox. "So anxious for her to attack?" Sam asks. "Eager to fall down at her door?" But despite the dismissive response Sam does give it some thought.
"Her goal when she started out, as far as we understand it, was eternal life, yes?" He asks. "For her and those she loved? She kind of seems to have achieved that. Sergor and them are vampires. She herself is... Whatever exactly she is. What is left? What more does she want?" Sam actually seems to be wondering about this. "I don't know. It seems she has achieved what she wanted..." And with that Sam tosses another morsel to Neferox.
"Oh!" Sam says in surprise as he does so. "You are here! You been so well behaved I barely noticed ya..."
"Oh his pack is quite something, a chunk of crystal some workers made for him, and well it's a pack of some description, I shouldn't spoil the surprise." Hector reveals gleefully to vin's questions during the walk.
As people sit to eat, hector too takes a perch and pulls out a hunk of bread, splitting it and offering the other half to Griff who hesitantly accepts "a ride? Oh no, we'll be walking to the good witch, likely reach her before the end of the day. she's, very... uhhh, special. No, the ride I believe was what Ömertyr offered for getting you all to Shenoh.
We'll be passing through these caverns behind us and into the expanse on the other side, I can't wait for you to see it, the slope of the mountains forms a pocket and collects vapour there into a lake of sorts."
Neferox sniffs at the food and gobbles it up without even a glance at Sam. She then lies down next to Vin looking towards the caves that they are to pass through.
"That is why I asked, it sounded very much like there was some strange mode of transport", Vin says dubiously. Once he has rested a little, he will start to practice some of the techniques Sam taught him for pushing the targets of his eldritch blasts, focussing on lose crystals and the like.
Elthana nods at Hector's explanation. She's glad they are close to the good witch. She wasn't going to voice her concerns, but she hoped there weren't any lasting complications with Sam's condition. The sooner they changed him back... the better.
She smirks at Sam's remark, "You were the one talking to the giant, what did you gather we are going to be riding in?"
Hector smiles at Sam's question, a glee in his eyes and the group watches as vin begins slamming loose crystals up into the air away from where everyone is sitting. The side of this crystal mountain, in front of the cave, offers a target rich environment for vin, and it's not long before he tests his blasts on slightly larger chunks.
One such chunk shifts its weight at Vin's new found power, and the thud of its sudden movement vibrates through the mountain, echoing out of the cave followed by the screech of a very angry sounding bird. Hector's smile fades as he hears it and peers into the darkness, Griff stands quickly and draws his sword, recognising the call.
"Ohhhhhh we need to go through there" hector mentions hesitantly
Sam casually watches Vin practice. He chimes in once or twice but mostly leaves him to it, Sam knows it can be frustrating having someone being too bossy.
"Hmm?" Sam says when Elthana speaks to him. "Oh, right. He just said he would fly us there... I didn't think to ask about the specific accommodations."
As Vin moves up to hitting and moving bigger and bigger crystals Sam considers saying something - This isn't their land and perhaps the locals don't want everything all busted up by tourists - but their tour guide Hector isn't raising any concerns so Sam lets it go with a shrug but no comment... Until the angry bird.
"That's not a good sound..." he notes and turns to look in the direction from which it came.
"Through there?" Sam asks Hector. "The cave.... or the bird??"
"the cave, it's like a tunnel, we need to go through... Past whatever thing make that sound" hector says through the lump forming in his throat.
"Not thing.. Roc." Griff states, staring into the darkness for signs if movement, "vin if you are making that sound again and causing the Roc to scream I may be able to tell how old and what gender it is, they are having very particular calls..." He gives vin a nod and listens intently.
"It sounds like we have the beginnings of a plan," kohso starts, "let us know what we can do to help, and once the realm knows that we are not the traitors that they believe us to be. We are ready to help, I will talk to our community and give them the news, this is a momentous time..."

Elthana leans against a crystal rock as the two sit. She listens to the conversation, but since the group is not alone, she declines to comment.
Trying to change the subject, "So what are we going to be riding to get to the good witch? You just mentioned a ride, anything else about that?"
"Oh his pack is quite something, a chunk of crystal some workers made for him, and well it's a pack of some description, I shouldn't spoil the surprise." Hector reveals gleefully to vin's questions during the walk.
