Mireah takes a curious look around Sam, "that's weird, for all intents and purposes you are fully undead, a chain you said did this? A necklace?...oh" realising the height difference Mireah drags a wooden stool over and sets it infront of Sam then clambers atop it to look him in the eye, "it looks like you came here in time, this could have gotten worse, your wounds would not heal properly but you'd feel fine, your constitution wouldn't change but you'd begin losing limbs... Feeling pain is one thing, but when your body is dead the damage it continues to take can accumulate..." She places both her hands on either side of Sam's head looking closely at his loose skin flap under his helm, tutting a little her hands gently shift down one grabbing a hold of the chain around his neck, the other places firmly on the front of his breastplate.
The actual pendant connected to the chain is somewhere buried in Sam's chest under his armour, the hole sealed over where the chain leads out, "I won't ask you to undress, I should be able to get it from here, this may hurt, but likely no more than it hurt going in." She gives an apologetic smile and then places her forehead on the back of her hand upon Sam's chest concentrating hard.
The green in Mireah's hair glows brightly, the same aura that shionne seemed to exude but this time a fresh green in place of Shionne's golden light. The smell of fresh grass becomes highly noticeable in the air as blossoming vines begin to wrap their way delicately up Sam's legs holding him in place. The budding petals grow and bloom in a variety of colours and Sam's body wracked with pain, as if a blunt sword is being plunged out of his chest from the inside, begins to react to the magic coursing through him.
Beside Mireah's green aura a pink one begins pulling away out of Sam's back, it envelops and embraces him, protecting him, not understanding what is going on and then suddenly Sam is covered in stone. It creeps over mireah's fingers holding her in place and she winces but holds strong "it's ok, I'm here to help. I know you're trying to protect him, I'm only trying to help." She whispers so that only Sam can really hear her, though apparently not talking directly to him.
(Sam I want you to give me a wisdom save Vs your own warlock spell save DC (13))
Elthana stands up as Mireah starts in on Sam. She wants to be there in any capacity to support him. She's about to take hold of his arm, give him some strength, reassurance... but then the pink aura appears and the elf shrinks back a bit, not wanting to interfere.
As the stone skin appears and a Mireah talks to the spirit, Elthana backs away, feeling awkward.
"If you're going to do something, do it fully," Sam jokes nervously in reply to Mireah. He bends over a bit to get more eye to eye with her even as she climbs atop the stool. As he does he sees Elthana hover nearby and he gives her what he hopes is a smile saying "It's all good..."
"I could take the..." Sam starts to say but Mireah is already telling him there's no need to climb out of the armor. A shame, it can be a bit stifling all bound up inside it at times. Freedom is a good thi... The thought is washed away by same pain. It certainly isn't the worst pain he's ever experienced but... Ow! Who knew the little girl tugging his chain would be such a painful experience??
The pain is subsided a bit by the smell of fresh cut grass and a calming presence around him... The green... But then the pink. It was like an embracing - calming and protective. Sam didn't even notice the stone rise up to protect him but he knew he was being protected. "It's alright," Sam says, his eyes reflexively going to Elthana once more even as he reaches out to her. "I been through worse..." Sam hears a response, whispered gently so near yet impossibly far away but it's almost as if it is two voices, the harmony of the two intertwined lending him comfort...
In the end the pain is nothing like what it could have been... And perhaps he let out a bit of a grunt in pain but, hopefully, he was at least free of the affliction...
Maybe.
"So... Did it work?" Sam asks of Mireah.
"How I look? Back to my old pale and sallow instead of the dead version of the same?" he asks as he turns to Elthana.
"Hey... Is the curse gone? Like gone gone? From the pendant even?" Sam asks, a bit more quietly, of Mireah. "I do like souvenirs... Maybe I could affix it to the armor instead of to myself, eh? If it'd be safe..."
The stone skin fades as the pain does, releasing Mireah's fingers which now look cracked and broken, she pulls the chain upward and the pendant comes squelching out of Sam's armour covered in his own blood. He takes a large inhale as if he had been holding his breath this entire time. Then feels his shirt warm and sticking to his body, warm blood and wait, every system in his body begins again. The food in his stomach that had been laying there since lumithor's grave and morris' bar. Suddenly Sam is keeled over his body rejecting the now noticeable stomach contents.
Despite the mess In her living room, Mireah giggles, "gone indeed, you are no longer undead, I'm sorry about the after effects, I can mend the hole in your chest if just give me a moment, and as for the pendant I'll see what I can do, you have a very loving spirit attached to you Sam, very loving indeed."
She pats Sam on the back and he feels a healing touch, the hole in his chest no longer leaking into his armour, "could only some of the effects be dispelled?" Vin pipes up as he snaps out of the awestruck trance he seemed to be in throughout the Fae princess' spell. "Only, Sam had said there was some benefits to the curse, unnaturally fast healing and the lack of proper effect when subjected to certain kinds of spells and damage"
"I'd have to study it, but I'd need help..." Mireah answers, curious as to the ideas running through the boys head. "I'd need the help of my old ward" she says grinning from ear to ear as she looks to gewyn and down toward the mirror in his bag.
Do NOT puke in your helmet, Sam thinks to himself even as he finds himself threatening to do exactly that.
Do NOT! he reminds himself over and over again.
After a moment or three he haggardly says "'scuse me!" and rushes outside and looks for some bushes or such where he can hastily Mold Earth while tearing off his helmet... Hopefully carving himself a nice hole in the ground in which he can regurgitate the rotten morsels in his stomach. Once purged he'll bespell the ground and effective bury the issue...
"Sorry 'bout that," he says absently as he returns. "Something didn't sit well..."
"Oh, huh?" Sam says as he hears Vin's query. "Mainly just the healing is all. True, the poison from the eggworms didn't seem to effect me and I'm not sure I exactly needed to eat or breath... But the healing was the upside. The rest just kind of minor perks. Least to me anyways."
Mireah chuckles at Sam's sudden rush out the door and quick return, "that's quite alright, you might feel dizzy or sick for a little while until your body balances out, and I'll see what I can do about the pendant, we have time right? You told me about the undead kobolds and the threat to this realm but are we in a rush? I'd love to get to know you all better, to know all about my grandson. If you never properly knew your father Duskan, were you left in the care of your aunts?" She asks Gewyn earnestly.
If Gewyn offers the mirror up Mireah takes a look, whilst Delores shuffles off to another room and sounds of food preparation can be heard.
"A soul trapped in a heart stone. Poor spyro, I should have never left you... I should be able to release him. He just needs a body."
Mireah looks to Muir, curious about what spyro would look like as a human, and then follows his gaze to neferox. "Ah! Oh, ummmm, I think I'll just make Spyro a body, if it's all the same to you." and she pulls an old rug to one side exposing the dirt floor of her house.
Elthana finds she is breathing so much easier now that Sam is back to Sam's self. The tightness around her chest loosens and she takes a seat as Sam rushes out of the room. As mention of the pendant comes up, "Burn it. Why would you keep such a thing? All it does is remind us of what you were and what could have happened!" she shudders at the thought and wraps her arms around herself.
Elthana holds her tongue when Mireah asks about more information when she immediately turns to Gewyn. Her thoughts can wait.
"Precisely because it is a reminder," Sam replies softly to Elthana. "Each of us... We're where we came from and what we have done. We are the influences others have had on us but also the things that have happened to us. We are the choices we have made... And not made. Way I see it, we should remember the good and the bad because they both made us who we are now. The pendant... At first it was a souvenir to remind me of the great battle we fought, all of us together, against the forces of darkness. We stood together and did the job of the great dragon Lumithor. Us! Who'd have thought us capable such a thing, eh? So as ugly as the pendant is, it was a reminder of the great things we can do when we stand together..."
Sam steps over to Elthana and squats down next to her seat. "Then the curse... I know it weighed on you. Perhaps even more than it did myself. And to me, that too is worth remembering. The fact that you cared so much about my safety. My well being..." Sam stalls a but and looks away and tries to clear his throat. "That you all cared so much that you were willing to drop everything for me when I didn't even care that much..."
Sam reaches out and lays his hand atop Elthana's. His hand is warm again and he gives her hand a small squeeze. "That is something I don't want to ever forget..."
When she asks about his upbringing, he looks uncomfortable and says "No. I kind of just grew up on my own in the mortal plane. Whoever my mother was, she must have left me pretty early on because I don't have much for memories of her. Wait..." He looks up. "When you say 'aunts', do you mean your sisters?, or did my father have siblings as well?"
Mireah digs a bit of a hole a few centimeters deep, and then stops at Gewyn's response "I'm so sorry he abandoned you Gewyn, that can't have been easy... I'm sure there must be a reason, I certainly didn't raise him that way, despite the lack of parents was your childhood enjoyable?" She sighs and sits cross legged on the ground in front of the hols she has made, she looks up to Gewyn not knowing how to make it better, but holding out hope that Gewyn isn't wracked with traumas.
"By your aunts, I mean my daughters, I had your father first, he was so outgoing and determined, he could support himself and left to live on his own when he was just an adolescent, he had a string head and could very much looks after himself, I'd taught him all he needed to live off the land, to hide in plain sight, and to keep himself out of trouble. I also taught him what I could of his heritage, but he never seemed too interested in the Fae, more the tricks that he could manage due to his lineage.
But I think the main reason he wanted to get out was that I'd met someone and had triplets, your aunts Hathi, Zeya, and Elyn. My little Hazelnuts, I'd call them. They were shifters too, always playing tricks turning into one another and making me confused, they loved messing with people and loves anything sugary, but they also lived to help, interested in everything and everyone, they were more difficult to teach that the outside world could be harmful. That sometimes people didn't have the best in mind for them, I hope they're alright, I hope duskan is too..."
She lowers her head, and takes a moment before pulling a large seed from her pocket and placing it in the hole.
With Sam looking ok after his quick exit and return, Vin has started to relax a little. He had noticed Muir looking toward Neferox when Miriam had mentioned needing a body for Spyro, and his eyes had narrowed slightly at that. He knew Muir and Neferox had a strained relationship, and so wasn't surprised, but he did wonder what Muir thought he would do if he tried to harm his hound. Would he be surprised by the ferocity with which he defended her, or would he expect it. He hoped it was all just posturing and they would never find out.
And then there was Gewyn, his thoughts turn to his Fae friend with a mixture of jealousy and pity. Vin would give anything to come face to face with his parents, but beyond them he knew meeting his more distant ancestors would not go well. Gwen's grandmother seemed to care for him, in a way. But he got the feeling she just wanted to make herself feel better with the questions she was asking him, not out of care for Gewyn himself. Maybe he was wrong.
He looked around at his companions, Sam and Elthana deep in conversation about the souvenir. At Gewyn with his grandmother and Muir soaking it all in. The knowledge of course, rather than the emotion most likely. And Neferox, looking like she was completely disinterested, but he knew her senses were alert for trouble. They always were.
"So", he finally says breaking his reverie. "You are going to grow a body for Spyro? Will it be a plant?", he asks, his curiosity too much to wait and see.
Gewyn sits down on the other side of the whole to watch the process. "Thank you for your concern. But my childhood, while no comfortable thing, was probably softer than that of most of the other orphans. While I worried that being different would put me at risk if I let it show, my gifts also helped me through. So yeah, things were tough for a while, but..." he looks back at his friends and thinks of the adventures they've been on. The purpose he's found. "...I think things are finally starting to get a bit better."He smiles softly at Mireah.
"you're here now. That's the important part." Mireah says patting Gewyn on the hand, before becoming oddly frustrated with herself "I'm sorry, I know I should bemore accommodating, I want to know everything about you, but it feels like I have no place or right to do so" her face softens as she looks over Gewyn "...at the same time I see we have things in common..." She states gesturing to Gewyn's new cittern and the pipes at his side. "I would ask your help, call it a bonding exercise." She covers the seed placed in the soft crystal dirt and pours some water atop it. "plants feel vibrations, it invigorates and strengthens them. They rely upon it to grow as much as they rely upon nutrients and water. You have seen and spoken to spyro much more recently than I yes? Can you play me something that reminds you of him, can you guide the plant and enhance my magic?" Looking to vin as he asks what form this body will take she confirms for him, "the body will start as a plant, but with some love and support that should change."
Elthana stares at Sam. His insight astonishes her. She opens her mouth to respond, then closes it again. Her eyes get moist as the emotion wells within. She finally shakes her head and turns her hand over to return the squeeze.
Looking over to see there is something going on, she squeezes his hand again and lets it go. Heading over to sit next to Gewyn and see what is going on, trying to get ahold of her emotions at the same time.
Sam is a bit taken aback at first when he sees Elthana's eyes grow moist, he can't help but wonder what he's done wrong now... But then with the shake of her head and her squeeze of his hand he gets it and he smiles bigly. For the first time in a long time he feels a warmth inside of him.... As she squeezes his hand again he decides that yes, he should say something to her. He's not sure exactly what though and as he tries to form the words in his head she lets go of his hand. She lets it go and goes to sit next to Gewyn.
The words fall out of Sam's head and the warmth fades... Fool, he thinks to himself. You know better than that... And Sam sits down upon the floor, knees bent, and thinks sour thoughts. Eventually he starts poking at the flap of skin under his eye, testing to see how it is feeling and thinking it would serve him right if it never did.
Muir does not interrupt all the emotions swirling around. He cares for all of them…but he knows his words aren’t useful during this moment. He continues to sit and smile
Seeing that Sam didn't come with her, she turns back, smiles at him and pats the ground next to her.
If he comes over, she'll lean into him and say, "I didn't think Gewyn should sit alone during this. I don't know who Spyro is, but with all this information he is getting... well, I know how it can feel." She says this last part with a tinge of sadness.
Vin watches with interest, wondering exactly what the plant body will look like and what it will change into. He waits to see what tune Gewyn will choose, moving close enough to reach out and offer him a little extra focus.
Neferox also senses something unusual to her is happening, and gives up on her feigned aloofness and pads across to take a look, but keeps more of a distance than the others.
