Sam is oblivious to what he may look or smell like. He's a HalfOrc after all. And recently undeceased. His olfactory faculties probably aren't even up to snuff quite yet.
Gewyn stares at Mireah, now trying to figure out if she knows. Does she know about the prophecy? Does she know the implications for her own life. Are they true? Should he tell her if they are and she is unaware? But also... Did this mean he could help Elthana? He'd talked a big game the previous night about figuring out a solution, but he hadn't had any ideas. What Mireah has given him could be an answer. He looks over to Elthana, trying to sort through his emotions. Then he turns back to his grandmother.
"You've given me such a precious tool, even though we've only just met. For that, how can I ever repay you? Surely such a gift must come at some cost for you"
"repay me? Gewyn I never thought I'd get to see my descendants, or at least if I ever did they'd be so far down the line that I'd never be able to tell. You, here, right now, it's more than I could have ever dreamed of, and I know it means something to you too. You don't owe me anything and it hasn't cost me anything to give you such power, it's yours anyway. Or, at least it would have eventually come to you, you have no siblings correct, I'm sure you'd have mentioned that by now if you had, and that makes you the first born of my first born. Direct bloodlines. Sure it exhausted me but it's not like giving you access to Fae powers is going to kill me..."
Gewyn turns his head to Spyro suddenly, as if hearing something. Then he takes notice of a ring that matches his own. Sometimes visible, sometimes not, like a trick of the light. He nods at Spyro and turns back to Mireah, eyes getting watery. "Oh Mireah... You don't know what you gave me... you..." His breath catches and he turns away. Reluctantly, he pulls up the back of his shirt to reveal the tattoo on his back.
Elthana takes the note from Sam and asks, "Why the rock?" and she immediately puts the rock with the note in Hog's bag. Looking up at the now clean Vin, she regrets not doing the same, she hopes there is time for her to do the same before they depart. "How was the water Vin?"
She stays quiet as the discussion turns to Gewyn and Mireah, seeing the look in Gewyn's eyes, she has a feeling that Mireah's last words about not going to kill her... well, she worries that it might actually do that. Seeing Gewyn's eyes get watery seems to confirm it and she waits for the girls reaction to the new tattoo on his back.
Vin stands stock still and remains quiet as the scene plays out in front of him. As Gewyn reveals the symbol of prophecy that could spell Mireah's end. His mind races though. What does it mean that her time is over? Perhaps it does not refer to death. Prophecies can be tricky.
Mireah looks confused, "No, I know what I gav..." the confused look drops as Gewyn turns around, the tattoo or marking visibly covering the majority of his back. She jumps up, stepping backwards away from Gewyn and covers her mouth, but she cannot stop the gasp of shock escaping her lungs, "...The Triskelion, Gewyn, You're.... oh Gewyn do you know what this means?" There is a flicker of both heavy concern and excitement in her voice, all of it mixing to a confusing and frustrating imbalance in the archfae, she goes to sit, but hesitates and stays stood, not knowing what to do with herself.. "uhh, firstly what do you know of this? the prophecy, the responsibility, the... reward?"
delores steps in to calm Mireah, but is shooed away in typical embarrased teenage fashion by the archfae, "Mireah explain yourself, what is going on?" but mireah doesn't take her eyes off of gewyn, waiting for his response before explaining.
Muir continues to sit quietly waiting to hear more about what has happened to Gewyn and wondering if Elthana will join him later when he attempts to access his fortress of solitude in one of the trees created by Mireah.
"The rock is to help him notice there is something arrived in the bag," Sam explains to Elthana. "Easy to not even notice a slip of paper appear... At least the rock will have some weight to help it be noticed."
Sam watches the drama and recognizes it is heavy but he has no idea why. He knows nothing about any prophecy, nor even that there's a prophecy that he knows nothing about. He can just feel the tension and emotions emanating from Gewyn so he knows enough to keep his mouth shut... His eyes do dart to the others from time to time though and they all seem to be more aware of just what is going on than himself. Annoying, but nothing new.
"I know that if prophecy holds true, I have become the herald of the end of the Sisters of the Seasons,"he says with sorrow. "And the bringer of a new balance in the wake left behind." He stands up, and for a moment the full length of the chain hanging from his finger is visible. It trails along the ground and rises to meet the ring on Spyro's claw. Then the light shifts and it is gone. "Is it true?"
"it is, The Triskelion is said to bring an end to our reign. But understand that this change will not bring an end to me or Shionne personally. Our parents were monarchs of the ArchFae before us and our responsibility over the seasonal lands did not kill them. Gewyn you are the answers to our prayers... When Tialha died, my sister of winter. I watched everything I knew fall apart, and I wanted to leave it all behind, but a small part of why I left was to hate the arrival of The Triskelion. With Tialha and I gone, I knew it wouldn't be long, I knew that Shionne and Rynwell couldn't just split responsibility down the middle...
Of course I had no idea quite how bad the toll was on Rynwell but her passing too just leaves Shionne, our time is over, and we messed it up. This is a chance for a new generation. For you to give new life to the faewyld. But until you are ready I'm sure that Shionne will continue as she has been since Rynwell's corruption. This is something you will have to meet at some point in your lifetime either this one or the next. But please don't see this as a burden, it is a great privilege to be destined to do, you are the prophesied saviour of the wyld."
Mireah approaches and hesitantly reaches out to touch the lines marked upon Gewyn's back. But at the last moment she stops and withdraws, instead wrapping her spindly teenage arms around him in a hug, "I didn't mean for this to happen Gewyn, please don't hate me, I couldn't bare it... It's the end of a literal era, though one which I ran from in my grief, but part of me is glad that it's happening that it can finally be over... In time I will return to the Fae, when I no longer have ties here I will come back and guide you."
Delores gives a nod, Mireah's answer to Gewyn having satisfied her curiosity, though it does dawn on other members of the group how chill Delores seems to be with the casual way mireah speaks directly of Delores inevitable death.
"Gewyn? Savior of the world?" Sam asks incredulously, misunderstanding just a bit, then lets out a bark of a single laugh. He then looks around and realizes everyone is serious and takes a small step backwards.
"Sorry," he mumbles softly. "Just a shock is all..."
"Clever" Elthana responds to Sam as he tells her about the rock and she leans her body against him briefly. As she walks past Muir to get a better look at Gewyn, she leans over to the loxodon, "I'd be honored to join you."
She stands somewhat near Mireah as the girl explains everything. She glances at Delores and Hector to see if there is anything from them she can gleam to add to this incredible tale. Insight: 15.
As Sam chuckles about the situation, she ignores him, but looks to Gewyn to see his reaction, wondering about the chain...
Muir comes out of his deep thinking and asks Mireah "So at some point Gewyn will have to go to the Fae world in order to save it? That is the idea then? And when that happens you would like to return with him but for now you will stay here until he returns?"
"I should stay here... to look after my Delores. That was the agreement we made before I re-birthed, she would look after me in my infancy, and I would assist her living towards the end... But yes Gewyn will need to return to the Fae or it will fall to ruin, now that the Triskelion has awakened, the end of the sisters of seasons draws near. Shionne may have already felt it still being in the faewyld and all. But there is time and more importantly there are options..." Mireah turns from Muir and meets Gewyn's gaze, but before she continues Delores interjects, "I'm not dying off just yet.." with a grumble.
"Gewyn, should you not wish for this, there is something else you could do, but it will put your claim at risk and leave the faewyld active but vulnerable to the chaos of life without a ruler" she takes a deep breath, and puts her hands out to hold his should he want, "there is a seed that will rebirth the entire faewyld plane, it will restore all that is lost from the seasonal lands and let everything grow as one. All you need to do is summon the path tho the highest mountain within the wylds, when you reach the top take the moon and plant it back at the bottom of the mountain. You may not understand this now, but you will if you choose to give this to the wylds."
At this revelation even spyro looks confused. "Wait, the faewyld can thrive without the monarchy? What would that mean?"
Mireah takes another deep breath, "Gewyn can either become the sole ArchFae, and fulfill his destiny as the Triskelion or end the line, the Faewyld will survive without rule, but the power vaccum could lead some powerful Fae to lay claim to certain things, the land would become closer to that of the material plane, but chaos is not always a bad thing... Still, this decision does not need to be made now. Shionne will do her best until her title fades, and my aspect and hers will remain, our powers are who we are... But at some point, this choice will need to be made."
Elthana suddenly feels a weight at her side, and dipping her hand into the portal bag reveals a weighty pouch which rattles with hard beans. Delores' aged set face suddenly lights up and she moves to put a bag of water over the fire.
"Kids, eh?" Sam says in a soft, consolatory tone to Delores. "I'm sure it's just having family and strangers around. They're like squirrels, distracted by the next nut... But they always find their way home, eh?"
Then, after listening a bit, Sam calls out to Gewyn. "So, Trisky-boy, what's it going to be? King of of the Fae or you going to plant the moon and let them sort that all out themselves?"
Gewyn's eyes regarding Mireah have softened, and he returns her hug. "I suppose we all carry the burden of fate in some way or another. Though I'm glad your fate is not to leave us just quite yet."
"As to what I'll do now, Sam... I don't know. Just a short while ago, I was a small pawn in a big city. Before contemplating becoming a king in a great wide world, I think I need to see more. I've started this journey of witnessing what all the realms have to offer, and by everyone's side, I'd like to see it through."
Delores gives Sam a chuckle and raises a brow, "any kids of your own? You seem the protective fatherly type... Though if you had I suppose you wouldn't be here." She asks but seems to dismiss her own question, Griff averts his eyes in a guilty manner, suddenly reminded of the four rambunctious hatchlings waiting for him at home, likely worried sick.
Mireah gives Gewyn a smile, "whatever you decide to do, I know you'll make the right choice and see it through. If you seek me out, I'll be happy to help."
In a fit of joy the teen ArchFae dies a little spin and when she stops she excitedly glances over to Elthana, "oh! Back to the topic of last night, the reason for the gift was to help Elthana here.
My theory is, that if you kill nivara (sorry Hector) and destroy her phylactery (if she is indeed a lich), thereby releasing her soul, then because souls always want to be whole, Nivara's soul will attempt to take over Elthana, and given her possible power you may be fighting the battle in a whole different way.
So! If Elthana's body is to be destroyed then a rebirth may help to control which portion of the soul comes back dominant! It's a long shot and it's risky, BUT! it's more of a chance than you guys had before, right!?"
Delores starts handing out little mushroom cups of hot coffee and rolls her eyes nudging mireah as she walks past, seemingly reminding the ArchFae that the situation is a little more serious than the teen's joyful demeanour would betray.
Mireah fixes her face to a more serious one but cannot help break a bit of a smile, "right?"
"Can souls pass through different planes? If Nivara dies here and say Elthana was in another plane or pocket existence, would the soul be collected by the raven queen here?"
