Elthana looks at Hector surprised, "You... you're not coming with us? I guess.. I thought you were. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have assumed." She looks down and shuffles her toe into the dirt a bit. She steals a look towards Serafina, not knowing how to feel about this woman. Here she was joining the fight and Elthana couldnt' help but feel jealous that Hector is choosing his wife over her. She knew it was stupid, but they just found each other.
She shakes her head and gets her thoughts out of there. She starts to turn away from them, but then rushes at Hector and gives him a big hug. "I'm so happy to have found you." As she lets go, she turns to Serafina, holding out a hand to shake, "Thank you for believing in us."
"You'll see him again," Sam assures Elthana after she hugs it out with Hector. "We're not going to war quite yet... just recruiting..."
"Yes, we should take the Roc with us. Muir? If you can talk to them about that? We don't want them getting feisty when we're not here, nor the locals pre-emptively defending themselves needlessly, eh? We don't need to ride them this time, but safer if they join us. Might also help us make a good first impression with the Djinn as well..." Sam adds.
"Good thought that, Vin. We will need a way to communicate between the different sets of assets. Maybe see if Hog could work something up for us? Send him a message? Ideally we would be able to coordinate 3 or 4 different parties via something but we'll take whatever we can get... And yes, Ömertyr will take the item to attune to it as we travel."
Then, speaking to Ömertyr in Giant, Sam catches him up with everything and advises Shenoh first, then the other giants. "The Djinn sound like they may have the most troops they can rally and thus may need the most time to rally them. But I suspect the Giants and their forces will be at least as vital... The Roc will follow. Whether someone rides them or not I'll leave up to them. Thank you again for the transportation, this pack is far more than we could have ever hoped for..."
"Yes, thank you for all you've done to help us. If it weren't for the fact that our current endeavour is to save your realm from undead annihilation, I'd say we owe you one. As it stands though, Sam will at least buy you a drink next time we are around."
Hector hugs Elthana back tightly, "I need to make sure you're getting all the back up you need, or I'd be right there with you despite what might have become of me on Shenoh. I believe in you Elthana, and I'll be right there when you need me"
"When you need us" Serafina corrects affectionately, accepting Elthana's handshake but also placing a comforting hand on her shoulder, meeting Elthana eye to eye "keep your head on straight, make sure Shenoh and those giants listen. we're counting on you all... good luck" the tension and heartache between Hector and Elthana is not lost on Serafina, but Hector knows where he is needed most, where his talents will be most effective.
Ömertyr gives a nod to Sam and with a grin he spins some cloud in the air in front of him, the wisps of cloud for a symbol that Sam recognises and as it does Ömertyr takes the rune and slams it into his own chest. Much like the group has seen Sam do before, Ömertyr grows double his size, though his height was way bigger than Sam (even in his mighty enlarged state) to begin with, Ömertyr now towers around 60ft above the group, a true giant. He settles the upside down hooks near the roof onto each of his shoulders and handily lifts the entire house off the ground.
"CLIMB ABOARD HAHAHA!!" Sam hears, though the rest of the group simply hear a very amused giant shouting giddily in the odd language.
Muir leaves the group to round the Rocs up to follow before departure and just before you set off, hector gives Gewyn a nod, "we should all enjoy a drink when this is over! And I'll happily accept Sam's offer. Kohso will contact one of you in five days time! Good luck!"
The inside of the pack is spacious enough, a large room on the first floor with a warming crystal in the center and several desks and seats, containers with food and water, a set of crystal stairs at the back ascends to a couple of separated rooms with cloud matter lining the sides of the floor for sleeping on, it might be a tight fit should everyone need to sleep at once but it is certainly manageable. Everyone's stomach moves just a bit, the feeling one gets when an elevator suddenly shudders, and looking outside you see Ömertyr's massive feets start disappearing, replaced from the waist down by swirling blue cloud as he begins to hover, and then steadily ascend until he is flying.
From the back of the mount the group also sees the two Rocs lift off, successfully rounded up by loxodon, now riding upon the back of the stronger female.
Vin stands aside with Neferox whilst Elthana says her good byes to Hector and Serafina, remaining quiet.
When Ömertyr starts to grow, he merely smiles, having expected as much as soon as he saw the size of the pack, and the carrying hooks.
"How will Kohso contact us? And how we can we contact you if we need to?", he asks of Hector, having never had a reply regarding the sending stones.
However the question is answered, he and Neferox enter the house. As he looks out at Ömertyr's lower extremities morph into floating cloud, he finds himself staring in awe at the sight.
"Now that is seriously cool", he mutters, remaining at his vantage point looking out for quite a while before he points at Muir and whispers, "You going to be ok riding? This place is far warmer and more comfortable".
After he receives a reply, he turns around and looks to get settled in for their long journey. He finds Neferox lying down next to the central warming crystal.
Sam watches closely as Ömertyr grows, basically comparing methods... Once aboard and a little accustomed to how the flight is affecting his stomach, Sam excuses himself to one of the more private rooms. "Hootie will keep an eye out for me, he can't keep up with the big boys anyway so has to stay inside," he says with a smile and has Hootie take up a perch in the main room while he skedaddles off.
Once alone, Sam does a lot of head scratching and dangling his tongue out of the side of his mouth as he slowly and cautiously does his best to perform the ritual described in his Quandrix Primer - double and triple checking the placement of each item and pronunciation of each word... Eventually he decides he can't dilly dally forever and just gives the find familiar ritual a try. Assuming no unexpected interruptions... He is successful!
Kind of...
Whereas he was expecting to summon another small owl similar to Hootie which he pulls out of his rust colored bag, the creature he summons has fur instead of feathers? And arms as well as wings? Sam summons no owl familiar... Instead he somehow summoned what appears to be a flying monkey of diminutive (small) size... "And who might you be?" Sam asks...
Later, about an hour and a half or so after Sam had stepped into the other room, he rejoins the others in the main room. "Any problems?" he asks sheepishly as he returns, not mentioning the tiny winged monkey on his shoulder. Though it immediately screeches as it looks desperately around at all the new things and people, shattering any chance of Sam being all nonchalant about the new addition...
"oh shit!" Hector yells having forgotten something, which he searches his robes for, producing a thick rubbery scroll he launches it deftly through the open door of your flying house, "there's only one so save it for emergencies! she'll contact one of you via sending, five days, don't forget!" he shouts after Vin.
Once Sam returns, Griff looks shocked, "Is that genuinely being a flying monkey? they are having been died out long ago here. I am only hearing stories of them, how are you...? what did you...?"
For the first day, the ride for Muir is smooth and the Rocs though the male slows every so often, as the day draws to a close it becomes apparent that these beasts need a rest, though there is no falling isles in sight.
During the day Ömertyr takes the scrying orb from Vin and attunes to it ready for the scrying when he has the chance.
Vin gives Hector a quick salute as he calls out to him, and then wanders over to pick up the rubbery scroll. He assumes it is a scroll of sending, in which case he won't be able to read it, and opens it to confirm as such.
If his suspicions prove true, he will pass it around to see if one of the others is able to.
Later on, when Sam re-appears with the flying monkey on his shoulder, he looks up a little intrigued. Griff's reaction kind of says it all though and so he merely listens.
He keeps in contact with Muir via his whispers throughout the journey in case the Loxodon needs anything, and will occasionally go for a quick jaunt out on Bry'ze as well.
(OOC: Assuming the regular rule regarding scrolls only being readable if it is on your class list is in use)
Elthana is pretty well blown away by Omertyrs transition. She thought maybe with the house and hooks and all, but to watch it happen? Pretty amazing. With Serafina's words, she looks at the woman warmly, so glad whatever tension that was between them has evaporated and that she now seemed to trust her, even with her connection to Nivara. "I understand Hector, I just.. guess I had just assumed." she smiles about a sheepishly.
Impressed with their travel situation, it was much better than their way in, she almost follows Sam to see what he is up to, but figures after all they have been through, maybe some solitude is what he wants. She hangs by the warming crystal after watching their takeoff with Vin. "You have a line with Muir then?" she asks him, "He's alright out there? Crazy elephant."
The flying monkey surprises her, "How did you? What is he? Um... " she grins as Griff is as surprised as she is but finds it intriguing that they used to live here..
Muir messages Vin one of the times he checks on him "They are tiring, especially the male as he has not fully recovered. If there is a place for them to rest and eat that would be beneficial."
"Hey, Sam. Muir says the rocs are getting tired. Any chance of asking Ömertyr if there is a rest stop coming up?", Vin says, passing along Muir's message. He will relay whatever the answer is from Sam and or Ömertyr as well.
Sam is stunned into a "Gee Golly / Oh Shucks" kind of pose from the reactions to his new pal. "I, uh... they're just... well, see... ummm..."
"What?" he settles on, eventually. "I been pulling animals out of the bag left and right... This one... Dottie... I just learned how to summon her from this book I got from the magic store, is all. Same thing... but different..."
Sam explains that the book is a little magical primer - just basic spells and stuff. Nothing scary or undead or anything. He knows better than that! Dottie here is a familiar, he says. Not unlike the animals from the Bag of Tricks but different - She's stays until Sam dismisses her. Or she's killed. And he can send her away for a time and he can bring her back without recasting the spell... But he could also recast it and replace her with a different form. The basics. And he can communicate with her more than he can the beasts from the bag. "She won't be much good in a fight, like the others, but she can be handier in other ways. Say for instance..."
But then Vin passes along the issue of Muir and the Rocs... "Oh, um... I'm not sure if he'll be able to hear me but I can try..." With that said Sam heads over to the window closest to Ömertyr and throws it open.
"The Birds!" Sam shouts out at the top of his lungs. "They're tiring!! Any place to stop a bit to let them rest??" His throat hurts with how loud he shouted and he's still unsure if Ömertyr heard or not. As such Sam unconsciously taps into his Minor Illusion ability and forms the image of a Rock perched on a tree limb with some Zs around it's head as closer to Ömertyr as possible. (30 ft range...)
Ömertyr turns his massive head to try hearing Sam better and is about to reply when the illusion appears near his face causing him to stop suddenly, everyone within the pack is throw forwards with a lurch. (Sam, for the fun of it, roll me a Dex save to not fall out the window DC 12)
Whether Sam falls or not he hears a booming response in giant, "they tire? Hmmm nowhere close to stop, could they hang onto my arms for a bit?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sam's "for fun" Dex roll: 23
(Assuming Sam doesn't plummet to his death... Sam eyeballs the Rocs then Ömertyr and then the Rocs again. Could they hang on to his arms? Perch on his shoulders? Roost upon the house/pack? You say he towers like 60' above us so gargantuan, I presume. Rocs are that size also and since there's no size above that it's unclear if the Rocs could ride Ömertyr or not?)
Taking a good look at the size differences between Ömertyr and the Roc's, it seems to Sam that Ömertyr might be overestimating his own size but maybe not his strength. If one Roc were to perch atop the pack and the other to cling to Ömertyr's front then maybe they'd get a bit of a rest.
As Sam responds as he wants to ömertyr, he finds he needs to then talk to vin, to message Muir to then talk to the Rocs, in a convoluted game of telephone...
Once the message has been passed on, the male takes its chance and perches atop the pack, hunkering down for balance it rests it's wings on either side and hangs it's ass off the back obscuring the groups view of Muir riding along behind them. The darkness of having the vast blue blotted out is taken advantage of as Griff decides now is as good a time as any for him to get some shut eye.
After a few hours Ömertyr slows and Muir still outside spots a cluster of small crystals falling ahead, as they get closer the largest crystal appears to be the size of a small village, and Ömertyr lands setting the pack down with a thunk!.
Sam actually suggests the Rocs try resting in shifts so they don't both stress Ömertyr at the same time, but so long as there's no more disturbing lurches or anything he is content to let them sort that out themselves.
"He said it would take 4 days, I believe," Sam points out. "Thinking on it now, not sure if he meant our version of a day or his... Griff, do you all normally even measure time in days like we do back on our world?" Sam hopefully asks this before Griff tries to shut down for some rest.
Whatever the result, the group is going to have some time to spend before they get to where they are going. "I believe Ömertyr is going to scry when he rests... I want to study my little book a little bit more, is there anything else we should be doing during this time? Any messages or requests to send to Hog? Any rituals or such we could do? Snacks to prepare?"
((Sam's booklet useless til end of next Long Rest at which point he'll swap out spell and take Feather Fall... Just in case. And besides assisting others or interacting with them as needed, his main goal is to play with Hootie the Bag of Tricks owl and Dottie the familiar... Both actual play for fun but also training and such.))
With his line of sight to Muir broken, Vin paces nervously, hoping everything is alright and the other roc doesn't tire and fall. He is relieved when they finally land, heading out to make sure everyone is present and correct.
Neferox stretches and wanders out with him, seemingly unfazed by the drama with the rocs.
"The winds are strong here, especially when Ömertyr is moving at speed. It would be a good chance to practice moving objects with my blasts. Without anything to target, I wonder if trying to force my blasts through the wind as far ahead as possible would help. I would need to position myself well for that. Do you think Ömertyr would agree to me doing that on the next leg of the journey, Sam", he asks, a little nervous to ask Sam to help him talk to Ömertyr, but less so having been part of the communication chain between Ömertyr and the rocs earlier. "Speaking of, how long does he and the rocs need to rest for?"
Beyond that, he is very interested in the scrying and would certainly stick close to Ömertyr for when that happens.
(OOC: DM has suggested this would work, but does need Sam to help co-ordinate with Ömertyr)
Ömertyr shrinks down to his normal size, which is still mich larger than everyone in the group.
The Rocs both find a suitable dip at the top of this rock to nestle in, letting Muir off and able to rejoin the group, though he looks bitterly cold from the days travel. It becomes quickly apparent over the blasting winds from beneath assaulting your ears, that rest will not be as easily found for the group (who are still feeling pretty peachy after your long and lazy stay at Mireah's)
Ömertyr, with translations through Sam does indeed give Vin permission to sit up top and throw out his blasts to train how to push past forces and strengthen his technique.
(Any one with a passive perception above 15 can give me a perception check as you stretch your legs and explore a little around this falling crystal)

Muir sits down shivering a bit "That was quite a journey. Would it be possible to warm up? A fire perhaps?"
