Elthana finds only Ingram's items and ash and dust, his body has been so thoroughly decayed that there isn't even the hint of a shape of a bone left, dry remnants in the form of basic elements.
Elthana pauses as the gravity of the situation dawns on her. She looks at the mirror and wonders why her friends made it through, and is thoroughly grateful. She reaches down and gathers Ingrams items.
Turning to Gewyn, "I can't believe this happened. Do you think we're safe to go through the mirror as well? I sure don't want to end up like this."
Gewyn's eyes flick back and forth, taking in the ash, the mirror, Elthana's worried eyes. He thinks quick. "The ash was still settling when we got here. What happened to Ingram happened quickly, recently, and right here. Not on the other side of the mirror. The others didn't turn to ash when they went through, which makes me think the more evident hazard is staying here." He scoops even more of the ash into his pouch, stands to face the mirror, and braces a hand against Elthana's shoulder. "I'll go if you do. On three?" Gewyn prepares to step through the mirror.
Ömertyr doesn't know what is being said, nor does he see what is being taken out of the pile of ash, he stares at whatever it is hee sees in the mirror and steps through.
Elthana brushes her hands off on her thighs as she slowly stands back up. She looks to what remains of Ingram and then to Gewyn and covers her mouth as a possibility dawns on her. She suddenly wraps her arms around Gewyn and holds him tight. When she finds her voice, "Thank... Thank God Vin woke you before you went through the mirror."
She lets go of him, not trusting herself to say anything else, grabs hold of his hand, and steps through the mirror.
With everyone through, Muir and Vin can see that Elthana and Gewyn's are now carrying all of Ingram's items. The other side of the mirror turns out to be the other half of the spherical room though behind you is not a mirror but a solid dark stone wall. A corridor extends out before you lit by candle light but only on one side, it looks to open up on a room further away from which a soft blue light radiates.
Ömertyr calls something out in giant followed distinctly by the name of his sister, Daudi. He begins marching down the corridor, his shadow dances on one wall in the flickering light of the candles on the opposite side.
Muir attempts to stop O showing him paper and a writing utensil from Muir’s things. Muir writes “I can read Giant if you write things down” and hands it to O
Vin sees Elthana and Gewyn appear holding Ingram's gear and frowns in confusion.
"Hey, Dec. Ingram was with us. What have you done with him and his griffon? Dec?", he calls out, not realising the meaning of the pile of ash on the other side quite yet. Right now he is assuming that Ingram has been relieved of his belongings as he is a prisoner here.
Neferox is less interested in Ingram's belongings, and stalks a little further down the corridor to make sure she is between Vin and anything hostile that might appear. She takes little interest in Muir's efforts to stop Ö as well.
As neferox progresses her shadow too flickers and dances along the wall stretching out and moving oddly compared to how Ned herself is moving.
Ömertyr looks to Muir in a huff, takes the paper and tries to read whatever is written but with no luck, he takes the pen and writes four or five long flowing giant runes and then shoved the paper back to Muir before storming down the corridor bypassing Nef.
Elthana looks to Vin for a moment, realizing he doesn't get it. "Vin, Ingram is no more. That ash you stepped over to go through the mirror, that was him."
The elf looks back to where they came from and then to the corridor that Ometyr is storming down, "I hope we get a chance to visit Morris while we're here. Should we before we head to meet this giant?"
Vin looks at Elthana, stunned at the revelation that Ingram was the ash pile he stepped over. He had assumed it was something to do with Dec themself, not a body Dec had collected.
"Oh. Dec said to step forward and accept our fates. Ingram might have fought against it?", he says sadly. "Or he was not conscious so couldn't make that choice", he adds.
"That was not ok, Dec. I know you can't intervene directly, but taking our allies just weakens us!", he says with a tinge of anger.
He looks back at the solid wall behind them before replying to the suggestion they go and see Morris.
"I am not sure we can get back now. The entrance to here had Dec's symbol next to it. Perhaps the other doors lead to Morris and Charon, but I think we need to go forward to get out. Ö seems to think Daudi is up ahead".
Gewyn squeezes Elthana back before stepping through the mirror with her.
On the other side, he turns back to look at the wall, running his fingers along the stone. Then he turns around and starts marching forward, nursing a limp from where he'd been mauled by the grim. "Well there's nothing for it but to push on. The welcome we've received has been far from warm, so I say the sooner we get past the 'welcoming' part, the better"
The group press on following Ömertyr and neferox's lead, there appears to be no hostile actions taken though the short walk through the side lot corridor illuminates your shadows which move and stretch oddly against the wall as you walk. This corridor opens up into a large but bare stone room. Two other entrances to thus room can be seen on either wall behind a circular raised plateau in the center. The blue light everyone saw from the corridor takes firm here as a spectral humanoid looking creature which stands next to a very large pile of blackened rags which turns and looks at the group, clad in these rags a dark purple skinned giant peers at you all through curtains of long black greasy hair. Then she turns back to the spectre and continues a quiet conversation, a grim curled up sleeping at its feet and a griffon looking stressed places behind the spectre.
Ömertyr roars something at the purple giant. But is ignored, he seems very angry and begins to approach with furious purpose.
Elthana follows the others, wondering what they were going to run into in this strange place.
At the sight, she pauses, taking special interest in the spectral human, she wonders who they are. She is surprised as Omertyr is ignored but worries as he approaches angrily. She really misses Sam at this moment, at least he could communicate with the giant. She has had barely any interaction with him at all, so she stands back, hoping someone can assist with the situation.
Vin and Neferox hang back a little as they come across the scene as well, letting Ö blow off steam after his mauling at the hands of his sister's pets.
He has no idea the spectre is Ingram, and emits a little gasp when Elthana calls over to him.
He looks more closely at both the spectre and Daudi, and particularly listening to see if the spectre was actually able to talk.
"Fascinating", Vin suddenly mumbles. "If that truly is Ingram, one can assume he has had his body removed by the mirror, and he is left with just his soul and memories. Morris gave me my memories back, I wonder if Dec can return Ingram's body".
As Ömertyr rushes forward he raises a fist to ouch his sister, but before it lands she disappears in a swirl of shadow, something that the group has seen Elthana do many times. As Õmertyr shouts in frustrated giant a voice answers in kind, but this time from behind you all. Turning you see your shadows cast behind you are bending oddly out of the way as if not wanting to be stood upon by the purple giant who stands hunched, but still towering over you and leering through her greasy curtains of hair at you all. Then she speaks, in perfect common, though her voice is deep and lingers on the vowels, droning out in a mournful way. "What possessed any of you to break through my defenses and disturb my sanctum? Surely it was not merely the old worn out frustrations of my dearest brother."
Gewyn takes a stride forward, making a placating gesture with his hands as he speaks. "O great and lovely Daudi, we apologize most dearly for our intrusion. The violence of our arrival was far from our intent. We merely sought audience, knowing this to be your demesne, nut being caught off guard by your... guard. We could not be sure whether the grims and golems were your retainers, and the reason for that uncertainty brings us to why we are here."
He makes a humble rather than theatrical bow before saying "Gewyn of the Peacekeepers of Northmorrah at your service. I'll cut straight to the chase of it. Your realm is under great threat, and we are gathering allies to face it. There is a poison at the heart of your realm named Nivara. She has been tainting the land with her plots. Infiltrating Shenoh's inner circle, slaying Vox Tontritor and appropriating his authority to commit genocide and gather an army of undead to her side, and ultimately aiming to ascend to lichdom. I know not about you, but having seen how she perverts death itself, I cannot stand for it."
