Muir's eyes light up with an idea. His ears flap quickly as he begins to mutter an incantation summoning 4 swarms of termites 60 feet ahead of Muir. He commands them to swarm and attack the trees
With Maka gone, the group heads into the waist deep rot, now fully unable to hide.
Making slow progress it seems that some of the closer awakened trees take notice of the group and begin a slow, curious crawl toward them. The closest two stop just as they begin moving as Muir's summoned swarms of termites appear in front of them and begin their attack.
In the distance the giant warped tree continues to shudder and glow, it creaks as it does, the noise eerily similar to that of a low rumbling scream.
As they all get ready to head to the giant tree across the wasteland, Elthana grabs her glass orb from her pack. She holds the cloudy orb in front of her face, whispering it's name...
Immediately the air horse appears next to her. Sky blue as it swirls into being, white mane blowing in the wind. She quickly pats the creatures nose then mounts and heads off towards the giant tree - 40 feet.
"Hmph!" Sam declares upon seeing Elthana summon her horse. He then clumsily and awkwardly climbs on Molly the Giant Goat and urges her forward with a "Hi Ho Molly! Away!"
Muir watches Sam and Elthana gallop away on their trutsy steeds straight at the main tree. Muir commands his termites to continue attacking the awakened trees to keep them occupied as he moves up 15 feet sloshing through the dead trees and brush with a sad heart (Where the S is on the map). He fires a guided bolt at one of the awakened trees and misses.
Neferox charges in with Sam and Elthana Vin however takes full advantage of his invisibility from the tree line that hasn't turned to ash and ranged attacks to blast some of the awakened trees to prevent his allies getting surrounded. He hangs back to do so. If anything happens to the group changing forward he'll be able to support from the back with Muir. The two of them working together to clear the way.
Move: staying with Muir at range and helping focus down enemies with him.
Gewyn trudges along next to Muir, playing triumphant fanfare to spur his allies forward and bolster their spirits.
Move: 15+15
Action: Dash
Bonus action: Mantle of inspiration. Elthana, Sam, Muir, Vin, and Nef (or their steeds) can move their reaction to move up to their speed without provoking AoOs, and they gain 8 temp hp each.
The termites summoned in front of the closest two trees swarm and begin devouring the bark of their adversaries. The trees in return twist and groan each of them jumping in a slam attack to try to harm the insects inside of them, this takes their attention away from the group as the group presses forward slowly. Vin's blasts also go a long way to making the closest tree to the right of the group look very unhealthy indeed.
The other trees in the distance start to take note of the group moving and attacking, they begin to make steady progress towards the group in reaction, the huge warped tree furthest in begins to turn also becoming aware of the scene, however it does not stop pulsing or screaming.
Two slam attacks;
14 to hit termite swarm 1, for 11 bludgeoning damage
26 to hit termite swarm 3, for 26 bludgeoning damage
All awakened trees except the ones in melee, move 20ft toward the group.
Sam, frankly, feels a little foolish riding on a giant goat… but he must admit it’s four legs are getting them through this mess quicker than his two would. “Good girl,” he says encouragingly as he gives her rump a pat.
Hoping he can do it without falling off Molly, Sam pulls out a torch… once lit and flaming he flings it towards the closest awakened tree. The throw unbalances the large Half-Orc for a moment but he’s able to grab a tuft of Molly’s fur and stay atop the Giant Goat with just a plaintive “baaaa!” bleating out of the beast.
Looking around he sees his torch miraculously strikes true (24 to hit, 4 improvised weapon damage)… Sam also see Elthana is also seemingly headed straight for the Main Tree and he encourages Molly to keep pace with Elthana and her steed the best they can.
Muir concentrates a bit more this time and girls a bolt of light from his map at one of the trees (hit 21 dam12). Satisfied with his results he continues to command his termites to do his bidding.
As Muir flings his bolt out to the tree left of him, the termites continue their internal onslaught, they bring that tree near death, the bark splitting and half of the tree exploded land splintered with radiant energy.
The second tree to the right is fully felled, toppling into the blight to be consumed along with its brethren.
Gewyn, continuing to trudge forward, begins playing a very rapid sequence of notes in a riff based around a chromatic scale. All around him for ten feet in every direction, flames spring up from the blight. Vin and Muir feel the heat emanating from the flames as they coalesce into a 20 foot high inferno that travels with Gewyn. But though they stand in the middle of the blaze, it never gets hot enough to burn their skin. Gewyn winks at Vin and continues playing.

Elthana continues to drive towards the giant tree, Gust racing forward another 40 feet through the difficult terrain. As she gets to the awakened tree North of her, she puts both of her palms on the withers of the horse and lifts her body up so her legs are free. She kicks at the tree as they get within range.

Neferox continues to race with Sam and Elthana to get to the main target. They look back at the sound of a wall of fire. They seem like they are about to turn around to help Vin but the boy shakes their head and its not hard to tell they communicated they were fine telepathically. The big black hound continues to charge forward. If anything they consider an enemy gets within melee they will attack it viciously with a pair of bites otherwise they continue forward.
Attack Bite 1: 17 Damage: 18
Attack Bite 2: 11 Damage: 15
Vin stays within the illusion fire with Muir and makes a show of shielding their face from the illusory flames but also continues to blast outwards with eldrich blasts. Again focusing fire with Muir and helping to take them down one at a time to reduce their numbers fast. he shoots out two more blasts. Focusing on the most injured looking trees first.
Sam's torch strikes the tree momentarily engulfing it in flame before rolling to a stop at its base, still lit and burning away, it doesn't seem to be able to catch the surrounding area alight, the blight having drained the rotten vegetation of all of it's natural energy.
As the termites fell their first victim the swarm moves through the terrain heading toward their next prey.
Neferox darts out of Gewyn's summoned illusion just in time to be outside of it and heads north coming into contact with the closest tree heading toward the main body of the group, as she bites at the thing her attacks again feel like they are missing their usual effectiveness but she does not miss a chance to tear and rend at the beast.
with Gewyn, Vin and Muir safely contained within the illusion of flame they press on, Vins attack brutally felling the tree to their left and freeing up their advance.
Elthana, pushing forward ahead of everyone on her elemental steed, takes wildly accurate swings at the first tree she meets, effectively bloodying it with her bout attacks.
Each tree not in melee takes it's movement toward those in the group not surrounded by fire, one reaches Sam and slams the weight of itself against him focussing the attack on Molly (Critical fail) it over shoots as Molly nimble out manoeuvres the thing and it comes crashing down falling prone next to the half-orc and his steed. The tree giving Neferox trouble, similarly takes a slam at her (19 to hit, 16 bludgeoning damage) the weight of its massive frame totally encapsulated the hound for a moment befor it rises once more leaving the crumpled visage of a Very pissed off dog on the ground in front of it. Elthana after dealing her blows contends with her adversary's counter, it swings its weight and goes a little too wide (10 to hit) missing both Elthana and Gust.
The screaming ire of the giant tree gets louder, it begins to turn and the group see another difference in the massive beast compared to it's smaller counter parts, the giant tree has a face! As it looks upon the destruction of its fallen brethren and its oncoming enemies it yells out using words, "HOW DARE YOU! who are you to come into MY sanctuary!? slaughtering the brothers to which I gave life?" before anyone can react to its words, it reaches one mighty branch down to it's side and hefts a boulder up with ease, it launches the massive rock towards Elthana (26 to hit, 28 bludgeoning damage) hitting her full force in the torso.
"Forward, Molly!" Sam urges with a gentle heel into the giant goat's side to press the point. "To Elthana!"
The goat surges forward and Sam tries to duck and last attack the tree right next to him may make. Molly carries him forward with her movement, using her action to dash and bring Sam into range with the tree closest to Elthana, positioning them on the opposite side from their companion to maximize their effectiveness. Remembering his previous battle with a tree, Sam reluctantly grabs up his hand axes instead of his maul. I need a maul with a choppy end, he muses as he weighs the small weapons in his oversized hands until he is finally in range and can strike.
Sam swings once (Attack 15, Damage 6Slashing), twice (Attack 27, Damage 10Slashing) and then leans across to use his bonus action to take a wild swing with his left hand... (Attack 23, Damage 1). If the tree still stands, Sam signals Molly to hold position here. Otherwise any remaining distance is pushed toward the King Tree...
Sam takes a devastating blow from the tree he runs from, it slams into his back as he goes, only just missing Molly with its branches. Dashing off to his next target, all of Sam's slashing attacks connect, bending and buckling the tree that he attacks, however it does not seem to go down, not yet.
Muir flings fire (23 hit, 12 damage) at the tree attacking Vin's dog while commanding Termites swarm 3 and 4 to attack the same tree while commanding swarms 1 and 2 to move up and attack the next tree. Muir moves up sloshing through the dead trees and sees Sam get pummeled by a tree. Muir closes his eyes and grabs his staff raising it in the air. He begins to glow with chalices all over his body
As Muir throws the fire it hits and envelops the tree in flame, it's super effective and assists in the two termite swarms as they make it to the tree and finish it off, it collapses in on itself, reduced to a smouldering mound.
The other couple of termite swarms move up toward the next hostile tree in range.
Time to set some trees on fire. Vin focuses their magic and looks to the multitude of trees. He sees that the ash below them is not burning after Sam's attempt to set things ablaze. Although it is a terrible sight for those who love the forest it was a welcomed one for Vin. He notices that the fire wont spread in this killed off clearing. That means he can use as much fire power as he wants. "Neferox! Its safe to burn them here! Go all out!" The hound smiles and rushes forward towards the big tree letting loose a joyful howl. If the large black hound can get within 30 feet of the largest tree they will unleash their Heat Breath at an upward angle over the tree so as to avoid Elthana and also set all of the top half of the tree ablaze in fire.
Heat Breath (1/day). The demonic dog exhales a wave of intense heat in a 30-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw, 34 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. Metal objects in that area glow red-hot until the end of the demonic dog’s next turn. Any creature in physical contact with a heated object at the start of its turn must make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 7 fire damage and has disadvantage on attack rolls until the start of its next turn.
Vin for their part unleashes multiple blasts of fire as a barrage of fire beams spread out in an attempt to set ablaze as many of these tree creatures as he can. The spell has a range of 120 feet so Vin can hit quite an array of them. He begins to chant one of his more powerful spells, "Я выклікаю агонь старажытнага пякельнага духу." once the incantation is complete a multitude of fire beams streak out one at each a different target. He will hit the tree creatures already injured first then work his way outwards with the blasts.
Attack Scorching Ray 1:24 Damage: 3 fire damage
Attack Scorching Ray 2: 28 Damage: 19 fire damage
Attack Scorching Ray 3:26 Damage: 2 fire damage
Attack Scorching Ray 4:22 Damage: 6 fire damage
