Gewyn rubs his cold arms more and shakes one of his feet, trying to get the blood flowing with none of his usual pomp. "No, can't say that I have. Haven't seen any wolf for that matter. This is my first time out of the city." He pulls out the knife he had thrown at one of the wolves earlier, flecks of blood still spattered on the handle. "One night into this business and I've already ruined my apple-eating knife. But..." He flips the knife in the air, casually catching it by the blade. "... I could still tell that wolf was not normal. Too much intelligence for an animal. Hell, I'd wager it had more than Walker."
When Elthana gestures in the direction of the boulder, Gewyn looks over his shoulder toward it uncomfortably. He turns back to see Elthana's more serene expression. "You actually seem like you're... kind of having a good time."He clears his throat. "Well, I should leave you to enjoy your morning and go check in with Scratch before finding my own dark corner to watch from, I suppose"
Gewyn turns to start walking away, but then pauses. "Umm, you said the creepy rock was... that way?" He points in the direction she had indicated and angles his path away from it.
Scratch approaches as the two of you speak, in the dim light of the mornings embrace you see he has a slight hunch as most Lizardfolk do with their heavy heads lulling infront of them, he stretches and yawns before rasping "hey, you all good?"
"Now that you mention it, yeah. I also do not get out of the city and this is a nice change of pace." She goes back to an almost meditative state when Scratch happens upon them as Gewyn starts walking away.
"Yes, we are. Are you?" Elthana looks at him quizzically. Not sure what to think of this lizardfolk that has suddenly joined their ever growing party.
Scratch looks up to Elthana, and adjusts his stance so it doesn't hurt his neck so much, he rasps "yeah, I uhhh, couldn't help wondering, um, members of our order normally travel to and from jobs for mediation, and to help out, all kinds a stuff y'know.
but uhhh we don't normally travel in large parties like yours... It might not be my place to pry but, if Ebb there is travelling with y'all and some guards, then either the destination or the journey must be pretty important to need an arbitrator.. that's the only reason I ask.
Umm where you all headed anyway?"
The Lizardfolk seems more curious than anything else. He glances to his Kenku companion, who is currently snuggled up under a blanket with a rooster resting on their chest, then to Ebb.
"Well, for now we are headed toward Trundlesten. From there, we'll have to see. I'd tell you what we're about, but if we're successful, you'll hear about us anyway." Gewyn winks.
"ah ok, weird things going on everywhere it seems, I hope you're successful eh?" Scratch scratches his chin and grimaces slightly at something rattling around in his the back of his brain.
He then takes another glance at Elthana up in her perch and begins slowly setting off to make another perimeter check around camp.
As the morning breaks, the sun pierces through the trees. Gara begins deconstructing the campsite around those still sleeping and eventually you all wake.
As the kenku wakes he quickly gathers his things, feeds his rooster and goes to speak quietly to Ebb. Walker seems to still be in a mood as he chows down on some left over mest from the night before and takes a seat on the carriage, which looks much better since Ebb took the time to mend the stress put on it by the mountainous wolf from the nights excitement.
Gewyn, having been awake for several hours at this point is already feeling tired. He takes note of Walker's mood and rolls his eyes as he wills himself to walk over to the man.
"Heya there, Walker!" Gewyn says brightly, suddenly leaning over the side of the cart from the outside, putting his head next to Walker's. He sports a warm smile, as he claps the man on his shoulder. "So me and the others were talking last night, and we figure last night was just a big misunderstanding, and you were doing your job to the best of your ability, given the information you had. Of course, now that you know a bit more about how we may be operating, and how competent Elthana and Vin are, you'll be able to make even better choices next time." Gewyn pushes up and over the side of the carriage with his arms, tucking his legs neatly under him until he lands sitting next to Walker in a relaxed slouch. He then turns to lean in and says more quietly as if letting Walker in on a secret. "I mean, heck, I didn't know how good they were myself until just last night. The boy's got some serious firepower, and I don't know how Elthana does it, but she seems to be everywhere and nowhere. And it's tough to know what role one is supposed to fill there, you know? Yeah, you know."
Leaning back into his casual sprawl, he continues, "Also... the others decided that maybe some of my jokes in the heat of things were a bit harsh, so that is why I was sent over to apologize. My job is usually to boost the spirits of the many, sometimes at the expense of the one, and it isn't really fair in this scenario given that you were just following orders as you thought appropriate." He turns over his shoulder and winks with a thumbs-up to the rest of the group, as though they were actually in on it. "All this to say, I look forward to continuing to work together on our coordination as we continue this trek, yeah?"He grins and slaps Walker lightly on the back again, making the kind of intense eye contact that often pressures people to match his energy.
As Vin wakes up they seem to have a morning routine. First off, they wake way too early for a teen of 18. Right as the sun crests over the horizon it seems he wakes up. They then take Nef for a jog down the road a bit and then back to the camp. After their jog the boy casts prestidigitation on both themselves and Nef getting both cleaned and ready for the day. The next thing Vin does is put on all his gear and seems to check a list in a journal of his as he checks off everything he has and what there is to do. The boy is very organized by the looks of it. Nef seems to do a circle around the camp site sniffing the area around them and look towards the group every now and then. If walker looks at her she grins showing them their teeth but then move on and leave them be.
This probably does nothing to help Vin with Walker but the boy seems to be unaware of Nef's antics. As the camp gets picked up Vin offers to help where able. They greet folks as they wake up with a smile and saying "Good Morning." to each person as they wake up. Offering a polite and friendly conversation in the morning to any willing. They then check with the others to see if anything interesting happened like hearing the wolves howling or something like that. After catching up the boy seems ready to get going knowing that they will reach Trundlesten later today. Probably late evening but this will be the first major place they've been outside of Marblestead. Before loading up Vin tries to approach Walker one more time but they load onto the from of the carriage before Vin can say anything and instead they just look disappointed and load up. Nef glares at the back of Walker with their red eyes but follows Vin into the carriage. They do similar to last time in that both the dog and boy take up the majority of one side of the carriage leaving room for maybe one more person to sit next to them as Nef rests their head on Vin's lap and Vin absentmindedly pets them as they get underway.
In response to Gewyn, walker listens and seems irritated when it is suggested he'll make better decisions next time, "Look, I know what you're doing and it's appreciated, but I've got no problem with Vin or Elthana, they lowered their weapons when they recognised me, they weren't the ones who saw it was me and then decided to bite me, but that damn dog, there's something evil about it, it knew it was me but decided to attack, and then continued to attack, it had to be dragged off of me, I wasn't making noise so I didn't alert what turned out to be those clerics, but it was that ******* dog that got their attention. I did everything right and I was attacked and blamed for it" at this point Gara pokes his head around the carriage and glares at Walker, he quietly growls "enough. What's done is done, only 6 more days, right?" He goes to check the tack on the horses is tight and ready.
Sam Hall awakens slowly and sullenly. He grunts a noise similar to “Morning” to any greetings but avoids any real conversation for at least the first half hour. Instead Sam blearily sets about putting together some fixings for breakfast, half heartedly looking at anyone around with an unvocalized offer to make enough for them as well. In the end he probably makes too much for all who showed interest, and those initially interested may have lost some enthusiasm for the meal once they realize how horrible a cook Sam is…
Part of the reason for Sam’s poor culinary skills is that at least half his attention is on his armor and his smith’s tools. While Sam cooks he is also seemingly tinkering with his armor. Making adjustments, perhaps? But if anyone pays close attention they notice him carving some seemingly decorative symbols upon the shoulder pieces. Perhaps a rune? Perhaps some symbol from the Giant language? Perhaps just a symbol that has meaning to Sam alone… whatever they are, Sam etches them into the metal with a surprisingly delicate and artist grace.
After the meal and donning his armor, Sam sets about Helping with loading the carriage, putting out the campfire and whatever else needs doing. Eventually he fully awakens and returns to his normal grumpiness level… He doesn’t start much chit chat but he will ask the Kenku and Lizardman about their plans and if they’ll be safe enough, considering their visitor last night. He does so in a way of being politely interested in where they’re off to next, not in encouraging them to tag along…
Other than that, Sam is ready to get back on the road, suggesting everyone be more attentive since we do know there are threats about.
As the kenku leaves to speak to Ebb alone, Scratch answers Sam, "we got some important business in Marblestead, we're already late so we'll probably be trying to make it there today, it's gonna be a push but once we've collected the High Priest we'll be back on the road headed to Lyvander again, no rest for these boys ahaa ha hmmm" he tails of toward the end, apparently not looking forward to his ongoing travels. It seems he is trying to make some small talk conversation and gratefully takes breakfast from Sam.
Elthana watches as the camp comes to life. She heads off a little ways to a bit of a clearing and using her black pole, she moves silently through some exercises. After her limbs are good and warmed up, she walks back to camp to assist with whatever is left. She overhears Gewyn chatting with Walker and she finds it interesting. She pats the dogs head as it walks by her..
She notices Sam being very intent with what he is doing, and makes her way over to him. "May I ask what you are working on? The way you are doing your etching, pretty masterful. Something you enjoy?"
Nef looks back at Elthana as she pets their head. The hound looking at them with red piercing eyes. The black dog pauses a moment and watches Elthana go over to talk to Sam. It's red eyes tracking her for a bit before joining Vin in the carriage waiting for the rest of folks to be ready. Vin for their part is writing until folks are ready to go. They look out at the others getting ready to leave from the window of their seat. Apparently stuck now as the dog lays their head on their lap and seems comfortable. Vin makes the best of the situation with their journal, pen and many canine head scritches.
As Gara pokes at the fire in the early morning, it gives a final pop of protest as it releases its last bit of smoldering heat energy. Ebb wakes up in a jolt as if in reaction to the sound. He looks around in recognition of his surrounds and rubs his eyes to adjust. The Verdan Cleric gets up and stretches then. He greats the other with a nod and smile while working out the kinks. Ebb grabs his staff and heads out to a private but out of the way area of the camp and relieves himself with a deep breath. After that he moves further away from his defilement and a respectful distance from the other to pray in peace. A little while after Foley joins him. Ebb returns paying the shoulder of his fellow cleric and addresses the group as they approach.
“Well I have good news and strange news for us. The good news is that I have prepared myself to be able to take care of any food or water needs we may have from here out, only once a day and the food lasts only one day, but it good that we don’t have to worry about hunger despite those woodland animal vandals and their food theft.” He says with a chuckle then looks a little concerned “The strange news is that I had a very vivid and powerful vision of Lyvander’s destruction. I’ve never experienced a vision as vivid and aggressive as that. I don’t know what it means or if it’s related to anything, but I warn us to tread carefully.” He looks to his brothers and says “Tell Holme that we are doing fine and making progress. Ask him if he knows anything of a large intelligent white fire wolf leading a pack around these parts or anywhere. We survived but others may not be so lucky. I’m sure he would like to know about such a threat before he travels. Sorry to disturb everyone with that, it’s all I have.” He finishes. Ebb eats some of the food offered by Sam and watches Nef as it smiles at Walker and then eyes Elthana he sighs when Walker goes off about the dog again. She had chosen the weakest among them and decided to torment them. The dog gave off a strange vibe but Ebb knew he had to accept it due to the connection with the boy. These were always the most difficult situations. Ebb let’s it go for now since it was just a smile, but is still wary. Ebb spends the rest of the time continuing to magically mend the cart and various other thing that need it. Until it’s time to leave. Once the head out Ebb takes a seat with intent to have a good vantage point and look out for potential threats.

The cleric duo bid you all farewell, and hoist their pack up on their backs, they begin walking in the direction of Marblestead, hastily followed by their rooster.
Once everyone is in (or on) the carriage, Gara beckons the horses forward and you resume your journey east toward Trundlesten and then to Hokum.
The weather is bright, the sun warms the skin just enough to keep the damp autumnal cold out of your bodies The day is yours, another travel day, sure to be as boring and uneventful as the previous day, possibly.
Elthana finds a corner in the carriage and keeps an eye to the outside. She mainly keeps to herself, but she does have one question, that she finally decides to ask. "Vin, did you say your dog here graduated?"
Sam Hall squints and stares at Ebb once talk of visions and such begins. Oh he knew such things happen but in his experience most are hogwash used to sell or scam and seldom are they anywhere near helpful.
"Have you had visions before?" he asks skeptically. "And how often have your dreams come true?"
Sam listens as respectfully and patiently as he can though his skepticism is likely obvious to all. "And how did Lyvander come to be destroyed? Was it white wolves? Rocks with faces? Is this something that has happened already or is going to happen?"
"And perhaps most importantly... How do you think this affects us?"
Ebb speaks from atop the cart where he sits as sentry but still hears Sam. “Well I’ve never had visions before so it’s startling. Most of the time I visualize myself doing something before I do it, but I don’t think that’s in the same league as this. I’ve heard Holm had a vision before he built the Grand Temple but he doesn’t speak much about it. Nor have I heard the voice of Hermes directly.” He pauses for effect and also to gather his memories. “I remember walking through an empty Lyvander, but it felt normal for it to be for some reason. I approached the statue of Hermes to offer my prayer. Then the statue moved. It looked at me then to the distance. Lightning came crashing down upon the town causing massive destruction. I saw my people running for their lives, faceless clerics screaming and fleeing. Then the statue stood, looked at me, looked into my soul, held its hand out and caught a lighting strike I believe was meant for me. I woke at that point.” Ebb let’s put a sigh and continues, “I wonder if that is what happened to Hokum, and I wonder if this is a warning of what is to come of the city I’ve come to love. I told Foley to relay this to Holm, who I know is heading there. I hope nothing happens. And it’s just a silly dream.”
the edge in Ebbs voice is apparent. He seems genuinely worried, but als determined to continue his task.
