"Very well, Yntar. We'll be here", Drexon says and glances to Cob and Eremoz to make sure he hasn't spoken out of turn.
"Perhaps whilst we wait for the others we could go to the Magisterium", he suggests, before turning back to Yntar. "Would we make it there and back in time? Sorry, not too familiar with these parts".
"It's about a mile west from here," Yntar says. "Just follow the train tracks and the road. You'll see an open field with bright-colored tents south of the road. Maybe ten or fifteen minutes walk from here."
"If it looks like it might turn into something we can let them know," Cob suggests.
He then flies up about 30' off the ground to get a look at what lays ahead of them. On the off chance the Magisterium do have something to do with the missing kids, they may not fancy onlookers.
My friend here wants to look into something, and i am here to assist him in his search. Karm takes a metal plaque from one of his coat pockets and shows it to the librarian. The plaque is made from a silver metal and is minted with the insignia of the archive on one side and an array of runes on the other. And i for myself have something to look up.
With Yntar's direction, you circle around the wall of the city to the district of Ravenhills. You remember that this is where the train station is located and seeing it with your own eyes only reaffirms that you are in the past. The station is not as bustling or as grand as the one you have exited from in your time. The four tracks that you have seen also haven't been laid down yet; only two tracks are connected with the station while the other two are not yet built.
Following the track and the Northern Spine Trail, you travel for about ten minutes or so before you see a clearing. In the middle of the clearing stands dozens of large tents with varying colors.
"Rare to see a procurer here in the middle of nowhere," the goliath says. His voice is calm and carefully spoken, measured. "I am Librarian Elbaf Tyr, Keeper of this Annex. The literature on the chronicles of the War of the Best is on the third aisle, shelf seven, third row, and fourth row. I will recommend The Time War as it was written by a member of the Time Agency who took part in the war. The literature on ancient fortresses and castles is on the sixth aisle, shelf three, second row. I will recommend The Ancient Home as it details the civilization of the Ancients and the buildings that are made by them. Unfortunately, our collection lacks the treaties and literature concerning medicine and diseases. You will find a better collection on such topics in Mantagard or Barai Dunne.
"Remember that the collection of the Annex is only to be used while within the Annex. We will provide notetaking stationaries if you do not carry one with you in order for you to take your study home. Certain sections of the Annex have been restricted from public use for the safety of the public, and I urge you not to disobey such warnings. Is there anything else that you require? If there are not, then I will leave you to your work."
{{Make an Investigation check. Tell me how you want to read the books and for how long. Will you be skimming? Scanning? Thoroughly reading? If Karm is helping, make it with an advantage.}}
Karm will help, with entry points into the literature but will then have a quick look for info about the 1st of Setu. Once he finds what he's looking for he returns to assist Dvark
The circus is quiet. A couple of people wearing loose uniforms are milling around, cleaning, practicing, and just generally preparing for what seems to be today's performance. One, in particular, is shouting directions to a couple of people that are in the process of constructing a tall spire out of wood and metal. He appears to be a dwarf with portly stature and a thick bushy beard and hair. He is wearing a red overall with a blue sash tied around his waist like a belt and, from his gait and countenance, seems to be the one in charge.
As you walk closer toward the group of tents, Cob and Drexon, you notice a couple of individuals loitering around one of the tents closest to the tree line. They seem to make a production of entering the tent stealthily as if returning from a wild night out. They do look the part with their drunken stumble and giggles.
Dvark and Karm
Karm, looking for quick information on Setu brings you to a section concerning Conjuration magic and worldwide festivities. You know already that the 1st of Setu marks the start of winter and the beginning of the new year. The Night of Winterlight festival is celebrated on that day. On that day, the night will be filled with rainbow lights across the sky, showing the Ley lines and the web-like construct of the Cradle, the shroud that protects Sabitah from the magic that traverse space and that amplifies certain school of magic on certain days of the year.
What you get from a quick read on a treaty on Conjuration magic is that the amplified magic of the 1st of Setu is Conjuration in nature. Scholars and wizards have used the power of the Night of Winterlight to conjure foodstuffs in case of a long winter or study spatial magic and its connection with the Cradle. So far, the latter has not been successful. However, you do have some sort of a key given to you by a dead Meanwhile, creature that defies nature. Perhaps with the correct tools and using the power of the Night of Winterlight, you may be able to understand the matter of traversing space and bypassing the restriction imposed by the Cradle.
Dvark, looking for mention of the plague ends up in failure as you can see no texts on medicine or diseases on any of the shelves. However, with Karm's help, you do find mention of a change in construction method after a sickness fell upon a small community of Ancient somewhere around the area that is now the city of Vortes and its surroundings. It mentions that something from the ground has been poisoning the community and not even moving to other places can abate or stop the sickness from spreading. They end up increasing the thickness of their walls and completely separating residences from workplaces before significant improvement in the overall health of the community can be noted. The settlements are still standing in ruin today about three days' walk east of the town of Villeres. Other than that, you find out that there are 23 Ancient structures across the world that have been left behind by the Ancients and still standing to this day.
Skimming the index of the book on the War of the Best is quite illuminating. Several of the topics that are discussed in the book titled The Time War shows that the conflict spans the entirety of Sabitah and across several different time zone. The time zone in this context is the fact that during the War of the Best, the Heavenly Court wields time magic to stretch time over an area to allow their forces a complete rest over a short period of time, while the Hellish Chaos wields bastardized time magic to erase and rapidly age their enemies. You will have to read it in a more detailed manner, but it was a very complex and messy affair that will take time to understand. You do notice that the Braveheart, the Dusk Weaver, the Light Bearer, and the Ausvic are mentioned a lot in the book as they were the four deities that led the forces of the Heavenly Court to victory after the Gate of Divinity was locked.
Drexon surveys the scene of the circus, noticing the portly dwarf who appears to be charge. He motions to the drunken couple trying to sneak back into the tent at the edge of camp..
”Perhaps we start with them? Drunk lips are loose lips, and those with a secret of their own to keep might be more inclined to give up another’s”, he says with a broad smile.
Cob nods at Drexon’s querying look.
“I’d hate to think it was traveling performers too but if they’re nearby and we have time, yes we should have a chat with them.”
Cob, Drexon, Eremoz
"It's about a mile west from here," Yntar says. "Just follow the train tracks and the road. You'll see an open field with bright-colored tents south of the road. Maybe ten or fifteen minutes walk from here."
"Excellent, a nice walk is just the ticket", Drexon replies, and makes his way out.
Assuming Cob and Eremoz joins him, he will start walking to the Magisterium.
"Should we tell the others? They are likely busy studying anyway".
"If it looks like it might turn into something we can let them know," Cob suggests.
He then flies up about 30' off the ground to get a look at what lays ahead of them. On the off chance the Magisterium do have something to do with the missing kids, they may not fancy onlookers.

"I seek knowledge of the plague known as Pitchblende Waste. And after that any literature on Bast Trench and the war of the best."
Eremoz follows his companions. "Let them have their fun at the library. Once we have something, we can get back with them."
Drexon goes with the flow and marches on following the train tracks.
If Cob looks to go scouting higher up, he will form a telepathic connection that lasts 3 minutes.
”Strange how things turn out. If you’d told me 24 hours ago that our situation was a certain bet, I wouldn’t have taken it”.

Eremoz gives Drexon a shrug. “I’m not really a people person. It’s best you two do the talking.”
Cob looks closely at the couple of drunks as the group goes closer to the tents.
“If they don’t feel like chatting I might have a way to encourage one of them.” Cob says. “Better move quickly to catch them before their boss does.”
Cob eyes the dwarf as he flits quickly to get to the drinks before they get in the tent.
