Sorrow takes the offered paper, showing it to the others before refolding it and stowing it in a pouch. She waves off the rest of it ‘Someone else should hold onto the rest of the stuff-or even divvy it up amongst everyone else. And then be on our way before we draw a crowd. Vee-you still need to gather up Wil then join us at the meeting place. Festoon-well done.’ She claps him on the shoulder, mindful of her strength. ‘Oh, and Mill-thanks for not using your claws. That might have become a bit ugly if you had.’ Her face is still hidden behind her veil but there is a trace of mirth in her speech. She shoulders the box once more and, pointing with her head indicated to Vee to head out.
Millwater follows Veeshal, turning his attention back to the sky. (What time is it?) With a break in the clouds he holds his paw up to the sun and concludes there is an hour of daylight left. He looks down the streets and alleyways and wonders about the lack of stray cats. Everything is winding down for the night, people going home to be with their families.
Festoon hands everyone 16 shiny gold pieces while he only takes 15. With the chest cleaned out of everything but the fingers it weights a lot less. Veeshal and Millwater head over to the candle makers shop to retrieve Wilbur and his mother and or/father so that he can have his hand repaired like Amber. Festoon hands Sorrow the note/letter along with the two vials of some type of liquid inside He tells everyone that the ring he had taken out has some type of magic on it wanting one to place it one their finger. He pockets it saying that he will get it identified later. The group heads towards the Midwife/s house to meet with Emilee and Danart to see if they can shed a little more light on the subject of what is going on.
Soon everyone is at Danart's house along with a priest from the local temple that goes through the rites to repair Amber and Wilbur's left hand There was a bit of a delay as each child with the help of their mother find the corresponding digit that was in the chest. Wilbur's mother shivers as they look for his finger when Emilee approaches her and tells her that no more of these trophies will be removed as Mayor is dead. Now they just need to know who in town is helping them. Both of Wilbur's parents go dead silent and do not speak for the rest of the time it takes to repair the children's hands. After mumbling a thanks they usher Wilbur out of the door and are gone. Emilee just looks at the door for a bit before shaking her head. After the priest leaves the house she turns to the group. "That is what I am talking about. No one in the village wants to say anything because they do not kow who is listening and in that case who will turn up missing next." She lowers her voice as she steps a bit closer to the group. "I have a feeling that who ever is doing this has something to gain from everyone in this village. The missing people at first appeared random but upon a closer look I came to the conclusion that all families that were first effected where those who spoke out against Randall Mayer. I know the men that disappeared first were those who were very outspoken and responsible for Randall's removal from the council. The women were ones I believe that Randall wanted but they rejected him. It makes me wonder what hell they are going through after what Amber hat told me. I have done a more complete check of Amber. While she is at close to total starvation and death she is not with child and I believe that her body has stopped her monthly bleeds until such a time she either died or escaped. The fact that Wilbur must have figured this out and rescued the two of them like he did speaks a lot about his character. I just hope that Caroline and Hank both see that. The children first started disappearing about a year ago with Amber and Wilbur being taken not that long ago maybe a couple months more or less. I could not tell you for sure as our minds were on other things. As I am sure you all understand. I know it will take a few months of carefully watching over Amber and feeding her a bit here and there until her body comes out of its starvation sense and begins to once again fill her young body out like it should be. I just hope that this event does not stunt her growth. This is all I know about what is happening around this village. I have a feeling that who ever was with Randall is also responsible for the deliveries that have stopped coming in. I just wish I knew who was helping him. Maybe with his death the others will soon show their real allegiance." She pauses for a bit before she continues. "I do hope that you continue what you started and seek out those responsible for waylaying the towns supplies and maybe get more answers as to who has been assisting them and Randall." After she is done speaking she goes into another room before coming out a couple minutes later. She sets a small chest before you before she opens it up. You all see it is filled with gold coins. She turns to you and says, "This chest contains 100 gold for each of you to receive upon completion of ridding the village of those responsible of waylaying the shipments as well as leading us to the shipments so we can get what we can back to this village. I wish you great fortune if you wish the take one this quest for the village."
A spring in his step becomes more pronounce as Millwater's zoomies goes up as the sun goes down. Fighting his urges he begins talking to Veeshal. "I'm glad you were able to arrange making the kids whole again. Many Gods and their followers don't even care about people who can't tithe." Rambling on as he makes circles around Veeshal until they reach the Chandlers shop.
At Danart's house the somber tone of unfamiliar rites to heal the children's injuries quickly calms Millwater down. He listens to the praises and glories of the priest's God. Personally thanks the God for healing the children.
Sorrow drops into a chair, amazed at the sum in the chest. She closes the lid gently, then looks to you all. 'I have made my intention pretty clear-especially after hearing what those 2 younglings have gone through. I stand by my convictions-what they have suffered is a crime, and to have others go through it in the future when I could have stopped it, would not sit well on my conscience. As well as knowing there are others like them suffering still. I would welcome your companionship along the way if you would stand with me.'
She pauses a moment, then reaches into her belt pouch. 'We stumbled across these 3 letters, two of which were in the box while the other was hidden in the lining of Mayers cloak. What do you make of them? Even though my skills do not lie with skullduggery and spying, I can see a similarity in how some of the letters are written by the same hand.' She points to the "L" as an example. 'And what do you make of this, the third note we found which was hidden inside the chest within a secret compartment?'
She will wait a bit to see what everyone else has to say, but it's obvious by the bouncing of her leg that she's anxious or thinking about something.
Vee stares wide eyed at the chest for a spell, then swallows loudly. "I. I. I.' he stutters, then draws a deep breath and lets it out slowly. 'Re-Sorrow-you know I stand with you. You have my pledge on that. I too have an anger for such treatment of people-young or old-and the treachery that whoever is responsible is foisting on the town, or towns as the case may well be.' His eyes flash brightly and there is a hint of red to his face. 'Where you go, me and my hammer go.'
Tail Feathers looks a bit curious as she watches Wilbur’s father. As it dons on her why he seems familiar, her pupils go to slits. “Well maybe,” softly to herself. “I will help with Sorrow and the rest”
Not nervous at all is J'nah, the 'follow the flow of life' style of living was the halfling way. Weather they chose to take the noble approach and not take all the gold or the professional approach and thank then for the compensation for a job well done, he knew in his heart that they were not done here either way and that made him smile. "That's a nice chest of thank you's that I hope to help us earn. The sooner the better. I'm packed and ready. I'll see the rest of you outside when we're fit to leave, as a group," he said and winked.
Millwater looks up to Sorrow "I will stand with you to the end! I prepared 2 days worth of meat and fruit pies, and a loaf of journybread for each. The skins are full. The camp equipment is clean and in good repair." With a grin on his face he takes a fighting stance "I'm ready to kick some ass!"
After seeing the chest filled with Gold Emilee shuts the chest. As she looks at you she says, "I know this is not going to be an easy quest so I would advise you all to get some rest before setting out in the morning. I will make arrangements with Relitha to comp you all with a free night stay at the inn. I hope that you can get to the bottom of this mess and get our supplies back to us. If you find any treasure in the form of coins, gems or jewelry consider it all part of your fees for doing this for the village. I can see by the the notes that there is someone still behind this as I do not recognize the handwriting or the signature or who this R person is. Best of luck to all of you." Once she is done speaking she will go up to each of you and thank you for taking up this quest. She believes that you can get more answers.
After departing from her house you will see that the sun is down and you are in that twilight phase of near darkness but still able to see. You make your way back to the inn where you are able to find a table and sit awhile to talk before you head off for a night of sleep. All of you wonder if you will wake up in yet another place like last night.
If any of you look up at the stars after the night has truly fallen you can not see any familiar constellations. Just where are you at?
After a good night of sleep you wake up still in the same inn. Some thanks for being in the same place is given as are some groans that you are still in the same place. Guess your time here is not at an end yet you think to yourselves. Everyone soon is down stairs where you are are served breakfast by a nice young lady you have not met before. Her name is Kaylee and she is of light blonde hair that is about mid back length. Her Green eyes sparkle with ease and joy as she serves you. Relitha is behind the bar.
After you get your fill you make sure you have everything you need to head out. You are reminded that the cave they think these beasts, monsters or what ever they are is one day journy south by horse. Seems you will have to find a place to spend the night out on the road. At least you are leaving well rested and full of food.
I know I skipped ahead a bit so if anyone has anything to ask or say before you cross the southern bridge please let me know. Otherwise you set off to find or locate the stolen supplies and are crossing the bridge over the river once again., This time you do not see any young ladies partially clothed in a ripped blouse running towards to you. That is your next move?
Brooding since the shock of seeing a completely unfamiliar nightsky, Millwater collects his thoughts trying to remember Master's tales of the muliverse. He soon focuses on the quest, believing it to be divine providence. (Would be alot simpler if the Gods just talked to us) He thinks. He says prayers to all the Gods he has learned from. (Can never have too many allies!) And a final prayer to the Catlord, thanking him for finding him worthy being made into a Tabaxi.
For those looking into the sky before arriving at the inn will so more than one moon in the night sky. The White moon is almost full, the yellow moon is just a sliver. the red moon is 1st quarter and the green moon is last quarter If you are scanning the sky there is a black round spot where no stars shine
Sorrow stops dead in her tracks and a low rumble starts. ‘ Whatkind of father sells his own son like that!!!’ She looks at the group, then lands on Vee and Tail ‘Think he’s safe in that baystryuk house till morning? If not, maybe you should fetch him to the inn and he can stay the night with us…Maybe we can force the issue and-no, maybe Not. Don’t want them all leaving town ahead of us and giving out a warning or setting traps…’
She growls a bit more, thumping a finger on her forehead. ‘If we were stealthy enough, I’d love to rip him out of his marriage bed while everyone else slumbered on, then slow roast his ‘nads over a fire to get answers then separate his head from his body and disappear the body…unfortunately that’s no better than scamming or scaring Seth-the and results could end up being the same, fleeing town and warming those guarding the others. At which point we lose the opportunity to save them.’ She hums a minute. ‘Unless we can frame Seth for his murder…’
Observant yet shrugging at the strange collection of moons, Festoon accepts whatever has put him here as just another adventure in his life. With Sorrow's ire on full rage display, he offers "Why would that be a bad thing? We could then follow Seth to their lair, and put a few holes in them before they do any more harm?"

"We need to make sure the village is safe before we leave." He says. "Perhaps lay a rope near the bridge to knock him off a horse should he escape?"
The naked munchkin puts his pack on, fingering the thin silk rope. (This will be hard to see) He thinks. Millwater looks up to Sorrow and asks "I'm ready, what will you have me do?"
