Just inside the cave mouth, a few uneven stone steps lead up to a small, dank chamber on the east side of the passage. Acidic slips on these steps and splashes into the creek. The creek itself makes a lot of splashing noises, so it doesn't sound too out of the ordinary.
Suddenly savage snarls and the sounds of rattling chains come out of the chamber on the east side of the passage.
Kestrell helps Acidic up out of the creek and asks "What are those noises? Friendly dogs?"
As you walk up the steps you see three wolves chained up just inside the opening. Each wolf's chain leads to an iron rod driven into the base of a stalagmite.
They can't reach you standing on the steps, it seems.
As you cast your spell, and speak to them, the wolves stop snarling and barking momentarily and look at you quizzically.

Acidic says, "No I am not food but i have some" and gives the wolves 1 ration each. Then tries to free them.
A chain goes from a thick leather collar around their necks to rods in the ground. As you approach their collars to free them, the wolf nips and snarls. Then it goes back to the rations and allows you to free them from their collars. They gulp down the meat in the rations and then look at you cautiously.
Thanks to Acidic's excellent animal handling, the previously hostile wolves leave the party alone as they run off and exit the cavern.
Without the wolves in this part of the cave, you can see a steep fissure at the far end of the cave. At the base of the fissure is rubbish that looks like it's been discarded through the opening above.
Peering up through the opening and stepping around the garbage, you can see it leads to a natural chimney that climbs 30 feet straight up. It looks like a tight squeeze, but someone may be able to try and rock climb up the chimney.
The creek continues to tumble noisily over the rocks and narrow pathway leading further into the cavern beyond this wolf pen cave.
The main passage from the cave mouth climbs steeply upward, the stream plunging and splashing down its west side. In the shadows, a side passage leads west across the other side of the stream.
Gloria and Copra can see this side passage. Kestrell and Acidic are blind. What are we doing for light?
Kestrell nods in appreciation. "Thanks, I can see now!"
Both Kestrell and Acidic can see the passage to the left. Additionally, in the shadows of the ceiling to the north, everyone can just make out the dim shape of a rickety bridge of wood and rope crossing over the passage ahead of you. Another passage intersects this one, twenty feet above the floor.
Those who want to can make a Perception check to see what else they can see.

The wolves sit down on their haunches and whimper slightly, and then reply. "We are hungry. Are you food?"
Their demeanor improves measurably and it seems as if they will allow you to move about the room.

"We go."
Acidic says, "Yes go, be free." and gives them each a pat on the head.

Acidic takes out his tinder box and lights a torch. Then casts control flames changing the color to blue and then expends the light.

There doesn't appear to be anything on or under the bridge. Where do you go from here?
