unfortunately, no one survived. as much as you try you cannot see any vital signs on the victims of the blast.
kess looks around, and manages to find a few tracks on the roof. she tries to follow, however once she enters an alley, the tracks start to nor make sense. there are footprints everywhere, and all the alley's windows are broken- looks like the culprit made sure that there was no way to track him down. "uhmm. . .where should i go next?"
with the detect magic spell cat manages to see a faint aura of the school of evocation, residual from the fireball spell. cat also notices that the mysterious collar has the same magical aura, on the two beads remaining.
you all hear the sound of metal and footsteps, and looking at the entrance of the alley, the City watch arrives. twenty guards arrive, followed by a sergeant and a man who wears a medallion of the Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors. he starts to look around, quietly conducing an investigation, while the sergeant and the twenty soldiers starts to question people. you can hear the sergeant speaking with his soldiers:
"do not let any one leave, we need to question everyone."
with that, the soldiers nod, scattering to knock on doors and question anyone on the alley
you all walk towards the bent nail, managing to flee the guards without them noticing. when you arrive there, you see a half-elf carpenter carving a wooden chair. he seems focused on his work, but at the same time he looks at the other side of the road, with a suspicious look. you remember that fala mentioned him, Talisolvanar, or "Tally", for short. Piers also manages to see small drops of blood on the street, heading towards a upper-class residential neighborhood.
Seeing the aura Cathern whispers to lore "Careful with that neckless of fire balls Lore. That's what whatever that thing used to cause a fire ball. I'm glad we got it away from that stupid kid! Or he would be dead with others by accident."
Knowing Talisolvanar having done business' with him already. When she enters the shop she says "Hello Tally, someone told us you was injured, in the explosion, so we came to help you." she says in a tone of kindness and trying to be roundabout in the conversation hoping to get information from him.
Piers as another Hercule poirot points at the faint trail of blood "Look there are small drops of blood.they seem to lead over there..Who lives there by the way? Looks like a posh area.Nobles right?"
As cat attempt to convince the hhalf-elf they are friendly he smiles in a way that makes things easier (help action )
"hm? me?" tally turnshis attention at cathern, raising an eyebrow "do not worry, i'm fine. actually i got pretty shaken, tough it was a dragon attack or something." he says, with a shrug. once piers mention the small drops of blood, he points to the road ahead "oh? i saw a shady fellow limping towards the upper-class residential neighborhood in the North Ward. think he was carrying something. must be going to Gralhund Villa, the people over there are pretty shady too, in my opinion. i mean, nobles are always shady." he said, as he inspected the chair for any imperfections.
She looks at the shop for any signs of something recently burnt or damaged or magical(detect magic still in effect) [perception game log 23 ] and tries to figure whether Tally is being deceptive [insight game log 5 ]
She looks shocked "Blood! Ok, we'll have to see to this poor person guys, lets follow the trail." She walks out and follows the trail. Hopefully Piers points out more of it.
Once out of ear shot not really finding any deceit in Tally, but all ways suspicious, anyways she whispers "Did you guys notice anything? Lore, I know we've been relying heavily on Kess, but could you send her back to spy on Tally for a minute?"
Piers narrows his eyes staring at the direction of that blood trail ''I have an idea!i can turn myself into a dog and then i would be able to track our guy without much effort.''
He certainly doesnt trust tally .. not a bit as he whispers to the others that he finds it quite odd the fact he pointed out that villa when there are so many places. So he is 100% on board with the idea of keeping an eye on him
Lore shrugs, "Perhaps it's best of we all try to follow. Tracking, in a busy street, with people all around. She'd as likely be trampled if she did not lose all sight of the tracks."
(Why don't you guys roll Insight? I'm thinking it's odd that he's not out with the rest of the folk gawking like Idiots slowing down blocking traffic for a minor fender bender My passive is 10 for insight but I rolled a 5)
"Yeah I wouldn't want to get stepped on ether. So Kess invisibly spying on Tally is out too?"
At Cat's prompting, Lore examines the in keeper more closely, then walks up to him. "Lorenthil's the name," he says, holding out his hand, "and this is Kess. You really saw nothing here, eh?"
Kess appears on Lore's shoulder, "Shake the nice man's hand, Kess. He's a friend." Mentally, to Kess, he says, "Tell me if his heart is true, my dear. Cat thinks there's something fishy going on."
(( Kess is using Heart Sight:
The sprite touches a creature and magically knows the creature's current emotional state. If the target fails a DC 10 Charisma saving throw, the sprite also knows the creature's alignment. Celestials, fiends, and undead automatically fail the saving throw..
))
At Piers' suggestion, Lore nods. "Aye. Everyone will avoid a dog. Perhaps you will permit Kess to ride invisibly upon your back and offer her assistance in your search?"
tally shrugs "well it's a pretty big place. one time a noble comissioned a few pieces with me, and he just smelled like he coudn't be trusted. maybe it was just my imagination, but i won't be surprised if they have some kind of criminal undergrount inside the place." the shop is fine- no signs of damage from the fireball or anything. only a lot of wood around, with far more variety of furniture than the last time. tally also seems pretty honest on what he's saying "honestly, i have more things to do than let my curiosity take the best of me. people get killed from putting their noses on what they shoudn't, right? that's why Vincent is here. to uncover the dirt."
"i mean, i could spy on him, even tough i would probably be bored out of my mind. But are you sure? if i find something and go back to you guys, you will have two tracks to follow." she says, looking at tally
"nice to meet you, name's tally. sorry, i'm very busy with this piece right now- some married couple want extra furniture to their new home." he looks at lore's hand, as he stops for a moment, putting his tools down to shake both his and kess's hand. (altough he used his finger to shake kess's hand- since she's pretty small."
kess touches the human's hand, as she inspected his heart, and reports what she finds to lore "hehe! he's lying about not being curious! but that's the only lie i detected, i didn't find anything bad on him."
the trail of blood stops after a while. looking around, there's a clear change in class, as the houses are bigger and more decorated, the people use more stravagant clothing. in the middle of the residential neighborhood lies a big, 2-story structure surrounded by sturdy walls. The main 2 story structure is nearly windowless on its Western and Southern ground floor edges as the mansion shares structure with the outer wall. The place is bordered by Horn Street to the North, Pony Way to the West, and Saerdoun Street to the South. The scent of flowering trees, the height and maintenance of the wall make it clear that whoever lives inside are one of the richest amongst the people of waterdeep. Cathern recognizes the place as Gralhund Villa, as the noble family (The Gralhunds) that lives here is well known almost around all waterdeep.

Cathern shakes her head "If the trail is really leading there. What would the Grailhunds be doing stealing something off a dead gnomes body? They're nobles, and very rich."her thoughts turn to the pouch she just pilfered, her cheeks turn red with embarrassment. But just temporarily. In thought "What would the Lighthearts think of her ."
(I'm not sure if Piers turned into a wolfhound or not. But if he did he prolly could still track the humanoids, scent. Oh and don't worry she'll share the loot😜 )
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Piers assumes the form of a brown mastiff and starts sniffing. Once they arrive outside of the villa he ll use his canine senses to smell for guards or anything weird (perception with advantage cause of my mastiff form 12 )
It should be good for 10min and 30ft she checks the bodies and the neckless and the pouch of gems.

Drux bends down to pet the dog’s head, “Good boy, find the bad bleeding man.” And he chuckles aloud.
Lore examines the dog and listens to the report from Kess as he catches up with the group.
"Well," he says, quietly. "Not sure what to suggest now. We can't go storming the place. I guess we could set up a watch or something..."
"Yeah Lore, we could get in serious trouble, them being nobles. But this is so intriguing, I wish I could turn invisible."
She looks at Drux with a raised eyebrow.
"Now, Drux don't harass Piers, you know he's been feeling a little dogged." 😏She gives a sly smile.
