The elder Harpy sees the first of you emerge from the staircase, more lambs to the slaughter. She sniffs the air, and her eyes focus on Thurodim - the scent of freshly drawn blood catching her attention.
She takes to the air, rising 30ft straight upwards, and in hoarse, broken Common she cries out "Daugh...ters! Eat... well!"
Illithir
Despite being at the back of the group, you act the fastest. Perhaps you see Thurodim begin to draw his weapon and react to the immediate presence of danger. Presumably you nimbly sidestep past the others to reach the top of the stairs, standing just in front of, or besides, Mala, and the scene on the rooftop is revealed to you fully for the first time.
Let's say that from the top of the battlemap downwards the harpies are H1, H2, H3, H4, and HM. Which enemy(s) do your eldritch blasts streak towards?
[I would like for the readied Eldritch Blast to go into H4 (since I think that cleaning the younger harpies before tackling the older one is the best strategy and H4 is she is the farthest besides HM). Am I correct to assume that both blasts hit? I thought the first one wouldn't hit.]
The Eldritch Blast let loose by Illithir tears towards the farthest Harpy, the twin beams circling each other in a tight spiral before impacting heavily on its torso. Its skin blackened and shrivelled from the necrotic energies, it releases a bloodcurdling shriek of pain.
Thurodim
In a Rage you storm forward, and with two enormous blows you leave the closest Harpy to the stairs a bloody, hacked mess on the floor. The sudden burst of violence which so quickly left their sister dead, followed by the almost animalistic howl, seems to cow the other young harpies, and they seem less sure of their chances.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Faera heads to the top of the stairs and as far towards the middle of the tower roof that her 30' will allow. She sees the damage that Illithir's blast did to the far harpy, and she raises her hands to create a fire bolt and sends it straight at the same harpy, hoping to put it down for good.
Mala takes just a step aside to allow the others room to get by and onto the rooftop. She grabs her longbow and rapidly fires two arrows in quick succession at the farthest happy that Faera just hit.
After a barrage of magic from Illithir and Faera, the harpy seemingly gives up its meal, and frantically flaps to try to gain some height and distance from you all. Just as it leaves the ground, however, Mala's arrows strike true - one through the torso, and one to the base of the neck, killing it instantly. Its lifeless body flops back down onto the rooftop with a thud, muffled by its feathers.
Ghurr, two harpies down, two and a matriarch remaining. What will you do?
Seeing the older harpy flying in the air above, just out of reach of his long arms and glaive, Ghurr focuses on the two harpies who have yet to engage with the group.
He move quickly to the closest one, only needing to get within 15' of the creature.
Ghurr slashes down quickly with the glaive, spinning it in his hands as it passed by the harpy, the metal capped butt end of the long weapon smacking around at the harpy's head. Even as the end beats up at the creature, Ghurr spins the glaive again, the blade slashing down. The flurry of movement seems overwhelming for an enemy who hasn't gotten into the fight yet.
The large, lumbering creature you have all seen so far, suddenly bursts into a blur of action! Ghurr's blade lashes out, and with a 1, 2, 3 the Harpy is cut to ribbons. Blood gouts from deep lacerations, and yet somehow it clings to life. It tries to screech at you, but only manages a croak, and a spatter of blood on the stones of the rooftop.
Heran, finally it's your turn, one Harpy on its last legs, one untouched, and the mother Harpy flapping to stay aloft above the edge of the tower. What do you do?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Heran draws an arrow from her quiver as she reaches the top of the stairs. The shortbow is aimed towards the matriarch, and then lets the arrow fly. She doesn't wait to see if it hits, ducking back down onto the stairs to keep out of their sight as she draws another arrow.
Ducking out of cover to release her arrow, Heran doesn't see it clip the Harpy Matriarch as she spins to get back down behind cover. It draws blood, but the older Harpy doesn't seem particularly phased by it. Her flying doesn't falter. Instead she calls out to her daughters "Flee, daugh...ters! Trap! Trap!"
The unharmed Harpy faces Ghurr, and releases a piercing scream which echoes around his head and makes his ears ring.
Ghurr please make a CON saving throw.
They both then rise up into the air, the injured Harpy somewhat falteringly, and fly 40ft directly away from the players, towards their Matriarch.
For her part, the Matriarch flies back 40ft from the tower. She flaps to keep herself in place, flying above the dark sea waves which crash against the cliffs perhaps a thousand feet below.
She opens her mouth, and begins to sing. And oh, it is perhaps the most beautiful sound you have ever heard. No silver-tongued bard has ever come close. Wordless, the song nevertheless is filled with emotion, and you all feel it differently. Some are filled with a sense of truly being loved. Some feel a sense of redemption, all is forgiven. And some feel hope, no matter what happens, everything will be alright. Whatever you feel, you know you must get closer to the Matriarch, the source of such beautiful music.
Everyone apart from Mala and Thurodim, please make a WIS saving throw.

"Should have brought my earmuffs." Heran grumbles to herself, upon hearing of what the eldest harpy can do.
