As Calcryx flys away Balrog calls out in draconic, “If you ever become lost young one, seek a temple with an open pair of scaled, red hands above a diamond-shaped black gem on the enterance, seek The Lord of the Third!”
”Judas my... man, human, at least I think? Anyways, can you lend me any luck with this treasure chest, wouldn’t want to break the lock or anything unfortunate like that.” Phil then turns to Balrog, and steels himself before asking-
”Bal, my favorite, and only, goblin-blood licking dwarf. Before we open the chest, can we all come to a fair and rational agreement for splitting whatever’s in the chest? A good working relationship now will probably help us later once we have to get sorting even bigger treasures!”
Balrog inhales deeply and grunts, “it’s not that I don’t want to work with you lot... treasure just makes me... that is... it causes me to... well, feel out of sorts, unwell, not like myself”.
“Believe me when I tell ye, I’ve been struggling with it fer some time.. I’ve lost things because of it...” Balrog trails off and begins to whisper to himself, “But you’ve gained so much more! The power! The Magicks!”
He snaps back to reality and his conversation with Phil, “I’ll do my best Phil.. I’ll turn around when you open it, split it as you see fit and give me my share once everyone’s put theirs away”.
Judas claps his hands together, and starts rubbing them in a circular motion. In between his hands, a faint light appears, with its beams piercing the gaps between his fingers. Continuing to rub his hands together, the ball of light gets larger and larger. When it's the size of an egg, Judas walks over to Phil: "Here you go, Brother Phil. May this help guide you in your path to deliverance." Judas has cast Guidance on Phil, giving him an extra d4 on whatever ability check he wishes to make to open the chest.
See the new map in the DM notes. You climb further down into the Sunless Citadel. We are now at the bottom level.Luminescent fungus, shedding violet light, clings to the walls and ceiling of this wide cavern. The air is damp, chilly, and redolent with the odors of loam and decay. A layer of earth, mixed with rotting vegetation and the remains of cave animals, covers the floor. Several varieties of mushrooms and fungi grow on the detritus, as well as a few saplings.
POINTS OF INTEREST: There are two robed animated skeletons tending a fungus garden here, using shovels and a rusted wheelbarrow to turn the soil and spread compost. They have not noticed you all yet. They are about 30' away.
From this position, you can see AREA 43, 47, and 44.

Unlock Check: 5 + 3
(What I was afraid of. Does the guidance make it so I don’t accidentally explode the chest or break a finger or something?)
”Um, Balrog, could you lend your crowbar to Ugg, we might need to force this lock.” Phil grunts, battling a losing fight with this stupid lock.
Balrog pulls the crowbar from his pack and hands it to Ugg, “don’t hurt yer self now big guy”.
OOC: just a reminder - Using a crowbar grants advantage to Strength Checks where the crowbar's leverage can be applied.
Ugg takes the crowbar and carefully places it against the lock before throwing his weight behind it and attempts to force the lock open. 21

Boy, you guys are really struggling with that chest haha.
You all didn't notice that Erky had gone away from a moment, but when you see him again, he hands Ugg a key.
"Here you go!" He says, "This was on the beastmaster!"
“Okay Bal, remember our conversation. Turn around, cover your ears, well split up evenly I swear. You’ll get lots of shinys”
“Mhmm...” Balrog murmurs as he turns around in an attempt to avoid another, awkward situation.
The chest contains:
(suspense)
Balrog begins to hear whispering... “they’re not going to share Balrog.. they’re going to keep it for themselves... turn around and look!”
Balrog shakes his head vigorously and slaps himself on the back of the hand.
”hey, could you lot hurry up a bit?” He says aloud with a twitch of the eye.
"Sorry Bal, Ugg is opening the treasure chest reallllllll slow... here, Ill do it." Phil yanks up the lid to reveal the treasure.
(more suspense)
OOC: is it a mimic? Lol
Haha! Not this time. There's 231gp, two onyx gemstones worth 25gp each, Splint Armor +1, a Warhammer +1, and a ring worth 20gp.
No animal skulls, human teeth, weird potions? Voodoo Judas is disappointed. 🤪

Balrog hear’s more whispering, “what has a golden head and a golden tail, but has no body, Balrog?”
Balrog grunts, “a coin master! a coin!”
