"I agree with Vex." Gilded says and then looks at Kocino. "First, us winning the fight makes their lives NOT forfieted. If Simon is not killing them for the ritual, they could get a fair accounting of their actions. Second, What if we free them and they don't want to repay their debt, do we kill them ourselves then, or do we just let them go? If we let them go, what your basically saying is that they are allowed to rob/assault/terrorize whomever they want with no punishment. That doesn't sound like what we all signed up to do. I thought we were here to help the town.. not join in with the biggest set of thugs just to win a fight with Simon."
“I saw we let them out. If they help us, that’s a plus, and is seems like the most likely outcome as they also want Simon gone. If not, well, it’s no longer our problem. From what I understand, the only people who need fear them are corrupt nobles. Is that so bad?” Corvus says as he continues his search for the jingling.
Perception to see what Corvus is doing: 3.. haha, I see nothing.
Gilded replies. "It seems I am outnumbered in my belief that criminals should pay for their deeds. I will obviously go along with whatever the group decides, but I do not think it is the right thing to do. And let me state, that if this Robin doesn't toe the line, I will be the first one in line to put him back in jail where he belongs."
Would Sloden (or anyone) know of rituals that might offer power while corrupting the user? Like what sorts of entities would be interested in a clear subversion of Holy Beast protections here in Radiance?
"There is nothing to do but go and look with our eyes. We have gathered a force. We must fill its every corner and find its shape."
Corvus glares at Vex, "Your one to talk. I doubt they've done anything worse than you have. You're a former criminal and assassin. They are petty thieves who, from what the blacksmith told us, don't usually hurt anyone."
”And Gilded has stated another good reason why not to do that. At this point, we’re vigilantes, people who help the town, not letting free criminals. If you raise other points we will have objections.”
Jess is too fatigued to follow these fine points of discussion. She’s going to try to finish getting her rest. The group seems decided on confronting Simon in his manor, that’s her main concern, the rest is just details.
"Are we forgetting who suggested freeing them?" Corvus gestures to Gwen. "I for one would like as much backup as we can get when we face Simon, but if you all are fine facing him without help." He shrugs. "Either way, I would like to take a rest before we move out. I want to be at my strongest, especially if you all decide we don't want help."
”I don’t think we should face off Simon in the first place. Heed those warnings and just head to the capital. If we can lower crime rates there, more of Radiance will also have lower crime rates.” Vex says, as he prepares to watch guard.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"You're right," Drez says to Kocino. "We can worry about the future of the town after we deal with Simon. However..."
He looks to Gilded, "I understand that Robin tried to pickpocket you in the smithy, but do you not remember that he only takes from the rich to give to the poor? We are outsiders, and he is trying to help the town just as much as we are--with more questionable methods. From what I've heard, he doesn't commit violent crimes, all he has done is steal from some people with a little extra money. Does that make it right? No. Do I think he should atone for his crimes? Of course I do! But I still believe we should set them free. Why are you willing to work with Vex, who has confessed to being a criminal and an assassin, but you won't cut Robin's men any slack?"
He lets out a breath before turning to Vex, "And you, do you think you are more deserving of a second chance then these men? Please, do not take offense at this, I am genuinely curious. Also, we would not have to go back to town to free them, from what I understand, the dungeon where they are being held is inside the Manor," He looks to Gwen for confirmation before continuing, "So freeing them doesn't put ourselves at any extra risk.... As for whether or not we face off with Simon, I say we started something and now we have to finish it. Leaving Glanzing Winds now is as good as leaving the innocent people here to die. We know the truth of what is going on, and we need to act on that truth. ...and, I'm not sure about your logic on lowering the crime rates elsewhere. If Simon is still in control here, nothing will change unless we bring some other hand of justice down upon him."
He looks back to Gilded, "Look, I am as confident as you are that we can defeat Simon, especially if we are smart about how we go about executing the attack. But, I still think it would be best to at least check on Robin's men. For all we know, they might have already been used to power the ritual. If that is the case, we might want to rethink our plan, as if the ritual has already been completed, we may be facing a threat of an entirely different level."
He turns to Gwen, "The fact that you are a knight makes you just as good of a leader as Simon, perhaps even more so. You must make decisions that could determine whether or not the men under your command live or die. Sure, you might not know how to deal with some of the more...political aspects of leading, but I'm sure there are others in the town that can help you. At least...they are going to need a leader until someone else is found. But, as Kocino said, now is not the time to worry about that. We have to deal with the threat at hand first."
Insight (to see if he can tell that there is something else on Gwen's mind): 20
“While I made poor choices back then, I was a foolish fool. Murdering criminals for a larger criminal to survive. I admit, they were all as bad as I was. And if they are in a dungeon under the manor, who do you think put Robin and his men there. Simon, however. I doubt we can take on more town guards than there are us and a spellcaster, as Gwen mentioned Simon being a spellcaster, we would have little chance without large planning. And who knows, they probably filled that place to the brim with traps and ambushes. If that is the case, Robin and his men should be freed from their evil crutches, but it would be too large a risk. That is my logic, Drezmir. And if you argue that we should not enter the manor in the first place because of the danger, that would most likely only be where they are keeping Robin and his goons.” Vex replies in a monotonous voice. Vex would know better from the clues and evidence he’d been racking up about the whole thing with Simon.
Jess feels a peace come over her as she rests. The forest air, the night stars, the cool earth, it all surrounds her and comforts her. She contemplates their mission tomorrow. Simon sounded like a tough adversary, but he was just one man. But his powerful ice spell could be a problem... Jess felt her magical abilities shifting, becoming tailored to what she might need tomorrow, as best as she could judge.
(She will prepare absorb elements as it may be useful against Simon's spell)
(She's keeping detect magic because it might be useful in the manor)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kocino and Drez had both seemed to agree in freeing Robin's men. Vex had started off talking on the manor and it's possible traps as well. Gwen was confused when Gilded had said Robin attacked them on the highway. Had Gilded forgotten Robin attacked one of the Jet brothers? Aiding them?
"I agree.. That Robbing is wrong but.. The Jet brothers would have killed us with their men were it not for Robin and his own men. Some of his men died helping me hold off Jet's men. He shot at that Jet brother and didn't run away when the fight grew hard. I cannot ignore wrong doings but I cannot ignore a good deed that a man risked his life to achieve as well. Still it is you're group so I will not vote on the matter or intervene those are simply my thoughts sir Gilded."
She never thought she'd disagree with Gilded on the surface they both seemed so similar trying to uphold the law and justice. But in some ways they were different it would seem. Gwen looks to Kocino and it's.. Tactical. If they lose what happens to those men with Simon? It's good to be brave but to believe you're destined to win every fight is reckless. At least to Gwen it was. Gwen looks to Vex on the criminals and "looting the manor?"
"Looting.. The Dawnblade home...?"
This crushed Gwen's heart a little, she grew up in that house with.. A different kinda brother one that was sick but kind. With parents that were loving but strict with kind and loyal servants and.. To loot it? Like it was nothing? Gwen would normally lash out in anger but Vex had been so kind before this point so part of her wanted to trust him.. Yet it hurt all the same.
"I understand working with "thugs" can be bad.. Gilded,Vex and after the fight we'd ask them to repay. If they refused I'd arrest them again. I doubt they'll work with Simon.. Robin's been fighting Simon all this time. Longer than I have because.. I was blind to Simon's crimes for so long. Robin tried to protect the town while I was blindly obeying the word of the law.. Simon's laws."
Than that's when it happened.. Corvus agreed to let them out shifting the votes 3 to 2 (As Gwen's didn't count) Gwen looked at Corvus surprised the two agreed on something. What had happened? Her Vex and Gilded got along so well before and her and Corvus? Well that was rocky and yet.. Look who she was agreeing with it seemed. Did she.. Owe Corvus an apology? ..No it probably fits his agenda but still.. Corvus with his senses easily finds every hidden coin. Boots, hidden pockets sashes every trick in the book. He's able to find 160 gold! Gilded can't see what Corvus is doing but Gwen tries too. She see's him looting the body and is sure he'll take a larger share again if he can. Though Gwen wanted no money it wasn't fair to his comrades who have saved him once again.
15 Her Perception.
"That's fair Gilded, if Robin's men dont listen or if Robin himself shows up and they do cause problems even after Simon's gone? I'll be right there with you in that fight."
Gwen almost gasped at the way Vex had talked to Corvus. Was this.. Happening? Truly? Corvus as self centered he proved to be before.. Made a valid point to Vex. What had they done that Vex hadn't? They didn't kill at least while Vex had stolen many lives.. Was Vex really allowed to judge these men? Truly? Jess had saw the argument brewing and.. Went to sleep! Now Gwen's jaw was dropped! It seemed the vote was to free Robin's men but... She wasn't sure what to make of it. Corvus had pointed at Gwen in the suggestion of freeing them.
"I think it's the right thing to do.. But I do not consider myself worthy to have a vote in you're group. So it's really only 3 votes against 2."
Than Vex said something even more heart breaking than before. Leave..? Gwen understood if it was too dangerous but.. She was convinced by this point they were in it together. If they ignored this problem longer Simon would be truly lost and Robin and his men would be slaughtered. Glazing Wind would become a shell of it's former self. And Gwen.. Wouldn't be able to stop this "Awakening" by herself. Though she'd die trying. Before her heart could sink any lower.. As she felt truly alone. Drez had spoken and every point he brought up? Was exactly how she felt, only worded much better than the simple knight could have ever mustered. Liquid began to muster in her eyes as she sniffled but.. Her lips began to curl into a smile through the hot tears. It was hard to even talk but.. She was happy she stared at Drezmir the entire time and boy she knew she probably looked stupid but.. It meant the world to her. He looks to her about the dungeon in the manor. She wipes her tears and nods that he is correct on this. He looked to her.. Told her that her being a captain helped her being a leader. That was just on a battlefield! She can give combat tactics but.. That's not leading an entire town or running it's politics. Yet.. Hearing it from the man who had been calm and reasonable this entire time not once losing his temple. She held her hand over her breastplate.
"I.. I might not be fit to lead but.. Drezmir you've reignited the courage in my heart and.. Even if I fall short I'll stand back up and rise to the challenge again and again. I'll do my best to lead these people. If I ever need advice.. I can always write you guys right?"
She tilted her head with the world's biggest grin on her face. Drezmir can see a lot in Gwen's eyes the light of respect slowly became admiration in her eyes when looking toward her. He could tell that Vex's words had cut her deep before. He can see that she is doing much better now, he may not understand why or maybe he does but.. There seems to be a strong fire of loyalty in her eyes when looking upon him. Whatever he had done it had more than gained her good graces, more so than that she was feeling better and ready to give this all a real try. It seemed Vex would not relent with Drezmir.. Would the group be splitting up? Is this how that would happen? Gwen felt terrible.. That she was driving a wedge between this party. Drezmir's insight he could see guilt invading her eyes.
OOC Sloden knows of Germuid secretly using Oath Breakers and Death Clerics for stronger soldiers faster. As for a ritual that takes sacrifice's for power? I'd say everybody can roll an Arcana on that if they wish.

Before resting, since there's a big discussion about freeing Simon's men or not, Jess will give her opinion:
"I say we free Robin's men only if we happen across where they're being kept. I think our incursion into the manor will be dangerous, and it would be wisest to get to Simon as quickly as possible, without getting distracted or wasting our strength on secondary objectives. I agree that if we stop Simon first, then we should be able to have time to decide what to do with Robin's men afterwards. But if, while trying to get to Simon quickly, we happen across Robin's men anyway, then it may be advantageous to free them and have them help us in the moment."
“Going back into town to free well known criminals is preposterous, we\’d be jailed in an instant! I’d say loot the manor ourselves.”
"I agree with Vex." Gilded says and then looks at Kocino. "First, us winning the fight makes their lives NOT forfieted. If Simon is not killing them for the ritual, they could get a fair accounting of their actions. Vex facepalms. ”Corvus, perhaps you would like to go to court and cross-examine a parrot. It would be as absurd as letting those guys free.”
Corvus glares at Vex, "Your one to talk. I doubt they've done anything worse than you have. You're a former criminal and assassin. They are petty thieves who, from what the blacksmith told us, don't usually hurt anyone."
“Most of the entire town is hostile. That’s why going back in there to get the criminals out is a bad idea, not because of how danger they are.”
