The two guards look at each other before looking at Drezmir a bit confused by his question.
"Pfft, heck if I know I'm just a gate guard, I don't know what ya knight and nobles do in that room."
"Anton! You can't just talk to him so casually.. He make a poor word of us to the king..."
"Ahh, crap ah well too late now right?"
With that they had continued to take the others toward the room. It's than that Drezmir introduces himself to the men and women on the council. The guards offer a humble bow before quickly making themselves rather scarce. In the countless amount of men and women, one of them stands up to a podium looking to Jess with a soft smile.
"Ahh a druid, if I had to guess you're from Tristana yes? It's good to see a fellow follower of the land."
His eyes had sparked with a strange arcane glow. Jess however could see that color take a greenish hue. The king had looked at over at the young man giving a slight nod to both Drezmir and Jess. Cerron, his adviser was eyeing closely at Corvus. Herron all the while was looking the entire party over. It was than the king had spoken up first.
"For those who hail from outside the kingdom, I am Edward Vintsvent. It is well to meet you sir Drezmir, I had not heard Glazing Winds appoint of any knights aside from Gwen. How do does she fair?"
Though he stood tall, he appeared to have a slight lean on his right leg. However only Jess and Kocino were sharp enough to see this unusual stance. The queen had looked Drezmir over carefully as he introduced himself. Herron had seemed rather silent at the moment.
Corvus catches Cerron eyeing him, makes eye contact for a brief moment to ensure the other Aarakocra knows he's paying attention. Then he inclines his head, looks back up at him, then turns back to the King. He still feels that it is not his place to speak at the moment. The King is addressing Drezmir, it would be impolite to interrupt the conversation, so it would be best to let Drezmir speak first. Hopefully Drezmir takes initiative and just introduces the rest of them, if not then Corvus will be forced to take action. His eyes glance towards Herron. The warlock isn't particularly concerned with the politics or even general welfare of Gurmuid, but he doesn't particularly want it to go up in flames either. Plus if he can gain the trust of these individuals, then perhaps he can gain access to some resources that he wouldn't have access to otherwise. He glances back at Drezmir.
Drez reassures the guards that he won't say anything bad about them to the king. He's new to this position, so he just wanted to see if they had anymore information to give, it wasn't their fault that they were as ignorant as he is.
When the king addresses him he hesitates a moment. He'd been expecting to be dismissed and assigned a post or something... but perhaps this is better? He gives a wry smile and says, "Oh, I and one other were just recently appointed as knights by Gwen herself. She is doing well, and has taken over leadership of Glanzing winds while her brother is out of commission." He stops there, hoping he shouldn't have said something like... your highness or my lord. But adding it on as an afterthought might make matters worse so he just stays quiet. Hopefully they'll be patient with him since he's new and not from this kingdom. He does inadvertently glance at Herron, half hoping to gauge his reaction to his words.
Jess smiles at the young man who addressed her and gives a nod. Taking that small window of opportunity to say a few words before the king speaks, she says,
“Yes, I am Jess, of Tristana, and a lover of the natural world.”
She will then politely be silent as the king takes over the conversation.
Kocino gives a slight smile and bows his head to the council. He watches the council with interest, noting how a few of them seemed to have a particular interest in members of the party. Nevertheless, he keeps quiet, not wanting to seem improper.
"Out of commission..? What had happened to dear Simon? I remember he was a rather good kid. He used to play pranks all the time with-"
His eyes had a flash of a somber reminder before clearing his throat and continuing.
"I never imagined Gwen becoming the head, she was more of a follower than a leader. I hope her brother is okay, congrats on becoming a knight but for an outsider to achieve that so soon.. I'm sure there was some sort of disaster averted I would wager."
The other young man with a wooden staff had smiled at Jess's introduction.
"Call me Archie! The old grumpy elf here is Herron! Right now Tristana and Germuid are visiting Radiance to offer our aid."
Cerron had cleared his throat and looked on over to "Archie"
"Tristana's aid is more than accepted but we don't need the help of Germuid. Having to watch you're people at our borders is another problem we don't wish to have."
"I understand you're concerns, however sincere they may be those concerns won't fortify the walls of Radiance. It's better to stand together, Alba has their hands full dealing with the Red Daggers."
"The Red daggers don't exist everyone knows they are just an old wives tale."
"Romalia itself is still facing it's repairs, not to mention they are considering closing their borders. This isn't a threat that one nation alone can deter."
"Hmm.."
The king looked Herron over and to the rest of the party pondering in thought before responding himself.
OOC For studying a person she can roll insight ^^ For the room itself she can roll perception ^~^
(Even if she rolls low I'll add the basic/obvious stuff.)
Drez hesitates, "That's... something that I wanted to discuss during an appointment. I'm not sure it's appropriate to involve everyone here in that conversation." He trails off, hoping that didn't come off as rude. "He is doing alright, and there is no reason to worry right now. Gwen has drawn the Dawnblade, and is doing quite well as the head so far."
Again, he hesitates at the mention of the Red Daggers, "Well... just for your information, my comrades and I actually had a run-in with these so-called Red Daggers. Perhaps they are just a group who chose to take up the name for a fear factor, or maybe they are the real deal and not just some wives tale after all. Either way, they bore the emblem and are definitely a major problem. That is another issue I'd hoped to bring up in a... well, later. I'll say this though, we have reason to believe that these Red Daggers are connected to the 'disaster' we helped divert in Glazing Winds."His eyes shift to Herron, hoping that the elf catches onto what he is saying. These people were after the rose too.
(OOC: Would Drez know anything about what's going on in Romalia? Or is this a recent enough issue that he wouldn't have heard of it yet?)
Corvus listens intently to this conversation, then clears his throat. Stepping forward, he offers the council a slight, yet graceful bow, still leaving his cyber arm concealed. "Apologies, if I am interrupting, but I feel that I much speak up. I am called Corvus Blackwing." He rises. "I do not know much of politics, but I do have experience dealing with what some call legends, and I would like to caution you. 'Old Wives Tails have to originate from somewhere, and though many are twisted and exaggerated, at times they are more truth than fiction. This is one of those circumstances. As Drezmir stated, the Red daggers are in fact real, and are an immediate threat." He flicks his red eyes from Cerric to Herron then back again. There is a chance that these people would not pick up on his Gurmuidian accent, as he did originate outside of the main city so it is slightly different than the average Gurmuidian. If they do not pick up on it, then fine, if they do, oh well. He has no intention of hiding his heritage. Rather, he is simply interested in seeing how these nobles perceive him.
Jess see's that Archie is rather excited to see another from his kingdom and a Druid at that. He's seems really laid back and cheery for such a serious meeting. As for the room and those in it, she can see that only those wearing Tristain colors along with Germuid and Radiance are here meaning all the kingdoms haven't come. Though the room has lavish statues and the like there doesn't appear to be much of note nor anyone stalking in the shadows that she can see herself which is a good sign one may note.
The king, had a hint of doubt in his eyes when Drezmir had mentioned the Dawn Blade but shaking it off he was eager to listen to more. Herron had offered Drezmir a slight sideways glance before looking back to the king. However Cerron had adjusted his wings shaking his head.
"The Dawnblade? Impossible, and these Red Daggers have you wisely stated are likely to be fakes. Also what is this disaster you speak?"
"I think what sir Drezmir is imploring is that such a matter should remain domestic rather than in the affairs of a foreign court."
Cerron had eyed Corvus for a moment before whispering to the king a bit. Herron however seemed rather curious by Corvus's introduction. The king looks to the party.
"Herron.. Lord Archdruid I ask that the two of you and you're subjects to give me a moment to speak with my knight and his subjects."
Archie seemed a bit surprised to be called "Archdruid" but he gives a slight bow and grins as Herron offers a humble bow. The two of them along with many men and women follow the both of them. It seems clear however that none of these people are with Herron only with "Archie." When they are alone the king clasp his hands together looking at them.
"I must admit.. I am curious to know this disaster you speak of but.. The real reason I asked you alone is.. If you're capable if aiding Glazing Winds to such a degree.. And survive the Red Daggers.. Than... Ahh Cerron asking strangers doesn't feel right. I can handle this matter."
"No, my lord you're magic wanes and you're body suffers. You can't handle these sorts of matters alone anymore it is far too risky. Drezmir, Corvus, Jess all of you. Truth be told things are desperate at the borders. In that chaos there was a strange phenomenon. A chimera was running rampant in the country side, some claimed it was part of the army of the dragon. It has been tied and sealed at a crater known as "Fractum's Scar." I have the pendant needed to destroy the barrier holding it, it's beginning to wane anyway.. We do not have the manpower to handle this beast. If you would do this we'd be willing to pay you of course. How does three thousand gold fair?"
OOC
The repairs aren't all due to recent events. The capital still has repairs going albeit not as intense since the events of his past ^~^
But if it's something aside from those events he would not know.
Drez is a little surprised when the King sends everyone away so they can talk in private. As much as he'd wanted a private meeting, he hadn't really wanted to interrupt whatever was going on here... too late now though. He listens carefully, growing more and more sure that the king isn't involved in this Red Dagger business (whether right or wrong). Though he does take note that Edward mentions 'surviving the daggers" as if he believes in the group after all... curious.
After Cerron is done speaking, Drez replies, "I see... well, personally I'll be more than happy to help out against this Chimera. Three thousand gold? Well, I'll leave that up to my companions to decide." He glances at Corvus in particular when he says this, but his gaze passes over everyone. He's not really one for taking rewards for things, especially when he considers the challenge payment enough.
Corvus cocks his head slightly, and ruffles his wings thoughtfully. For as adamant as this other aarakocra was about not trusting Gurmuid, he seemed awfully open to asking foreigners for help. It is clear that the king is in no condition to 'deal with this matter', but the warlock has to wonder...is there more to this? A single chimera? Chimeras are powerful yes, but are they really THAT strong? Is it the kingdom's army really stretched that thin. Either these people are truly desperate, or this is some sort of test.
When Drezmir looks to him, he nods. "Three thousand gold seems fair to me." He responds coolly. Gold really isn't the real prize here. No. The trust he can gain from taking this job, and not asking more...that is the true prize. If these nobles come to trust him, this will give him a huge advantage. Perhaps he can gain access to information that is restricted to the general public, or perhaps simply more insight on this Army of the Dragon nonsense. Either way, taking out one Chimera shouldn't be a huge problem. Perhaps doing the deed will lend useful insight to the situation anyways.
Corvus couldn't get a good read on the king but Cerron did seem somewhat distrusting of Corvus hearing his voice. He had decided to trust Drezmir, however seeing Jess talk to archdruid of Tristain made him a bit easier it seems. The king had come over handing a strange pendant with arcane runes on it. The king certainly seemed a bit slow doing so, he seemed well built however despite his condition.
"That is for the barrier, if you have any questions or need anything let me know. Finding allies in Radiance has proven... Difficult as of late. Though Germuid has offered a hand.. Cerron."
"Crisis or not we should be careful my lord."
"I suppose you aren't entirely.. That aside.. I am grateful to you all for you're assistance in this matter."
The warlock notes Cerron's obvious distrust towards him. This is to be expected, though the fact that the distrust doesn't run to deep is good to know.
Corvus inclines his head to the king and his advisor. "Wise words Cerron. It is always good to take caution, however, there are times when risks are necessary. The saying, 'The greater the risk, the greater the reward' exists for a reason after all. Perhaps Gurmuid is trying to take advantage of you, or perhaps this offer of aid is really a method of mending a broken relationship. You cannot know for certain if you shoot down the offer before it spreads it's wings." He raises his head, now directing his words to the king. "Let us hope we do not disappoint you." He could say more, but it would likely only make the other aarakocra more distrusting of him. Corvus doesn't particularly care if a treaty is formed or not. It won't effect him much either way, but it doesn't hurt to make these people think does it? He looks to his companions, "I believe Drezmir should take the pendant, since he is the only knight among us."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Drez hesitantly accepts the pendant, giving Corvus a curious glance as he'd expected the warlock to snatch up anything that had a power to it. The glance is only brief though, and he quickly turns his attention back to the king and his advisor. "We won't disappoint you," he says with his usual confidence. "We've faced great threats already, all of which we have overcome as a team. Consider the threat dealt with." He hesitates, his confidence wavering as he considers whether or not to bring up their actual reason for coming here. Herron had warned them against accusations...and well, he honestly doesn't think that Edward has anything to do with the Awakening or the Red Daggers at this point. But how could he explain the royal seal getting mixed up in all this without sounding like he was making an accusation? Should he even bother to bring it up?
After a moment he pockets the pendant and says, "Before we depart... I think we should address the issue that my comrades and I came here to discuss."He hesitates, glancing at those behind him before continuing, "It has to do with Glazing Winds, Simon, and some things most would consider myths like the red daggers and the blushing bloom. I just think it is something that you should be aware of, since whoever is behind this somehow got your family seal mixed up into it--which is why we came here in the first place."
(I think we have that scroll right? Or am I remembering things wrong? My internet is to slow for me to go jumping through this thread lol. :'D If we have the scroll, Drez will pull it out and show him.)
He pauses, trying to gauge the king's reaction as well as Cerron before he continues with his story.
Insight: 8
"If we don't have time to discuss this in full, I understand. My comrades and I can proceed with dealing with your chimera, but I just thought it would be best to inform you. Everything is fine in Glazing winds now, but... there is still a major threat out there that has to do with the group calling themselves the red daggers."
“Ah...” Kocino nearly speaks out, but stops himself from doing so. For all he knows, the king could be the one pulling the strings and we just showed our hand. Either way, it’s too late to worry about that. He continues standing quietly with the group.
Jess is deferential to the others carrying the conversation. On the topic of the chimera and reward she will let her opinion be known.
“Indeed, your excellency, we will handle this threat. It sounds like time is if the essence, we will get started right away. And the reward is quite generous of you. I hope that we may be able to earn it.”
Jess does not lust after lucre but recognizes that gold can be a powerful resource. It cannot hurt to have a bit of gold in your pocket.
With some hesitation, Jess will venture to ask the king,
“My Lord? Please forgive me if I overstep my bounds, but may I ask what ailment besets you? Your advisor mentioned that your magic wanes and your body suffers…”
OOC:
Just wondering what kind of political and physical wherewithal the nation of Tristain would have to offer aid to this land?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Cerron had clasped his talons at the thought of mending a relationship. There was a hint.. Of pain and anger in his eyes. His expression had almost screamed "What can be mended?" However he had decided instead to cross his arms and offer a nod. The king on the other hand seemed curious to Corvus's words though he did look him over studying the intents of his words and his passion.
Insight vs Corvus Deception

The king had listened to Drezmir before he had shown the scroll. The king looked it over carefully and so had Cerron. His advisor seemed rather offended but before he could speak the king had raised his hand up shaking his head.
"No Cerron, this is good. He took a risk showing me this, the blushing bloom? Is that real? Simon... Yes why isn't he ruling? The Vintsvents.. My family... If Richard were here he'd have raised a blade ready to hunt the traitor.. Heh. As for my younger.. He's a bit on the shy side.. In fact he was supposed to be here today. Hmm.. I've a few living relatives left. A brother and a nephew as well as my son of course to name a few close members. There are many I am not in regular contact with however."
The king as Drezmir can see is stressed out. He seemed exhausted mentioning his second son's shy side. He is certainly worried with a bit of uncertainty when it comes to his family but he seems determined when speaking of finding the one who may be behind this. Still reading a reaction wasn't as easy as reading one's mind of course. The king eyes had turned to Sy for a moment curious by his appearance before looking to the others.
The king had looked to Jess with a weak smile resting his chin against his hand.
"Such vigor.. Reminds me of my youth. I'm afraid my injury is from the Blue Dragon itself. My connection to my god.. Dawn the golden dragon.. The Vintsvents have been blessed with great power and great potential. I was able to curse that Blue Dragon with that divine power but when it slashed into me.. The wound wouldn't heal. It's power corrupted my connection.. Causing my magic and body to slowly deteriorate. Normally I'd handle these things.. My son Richard was a prodigy in that power and it took him stepping in to save.. My worthless self. Without him I wouldn't have been able to have wound the beast nor curse it. .. In short though Cerron wishes it to be kept a secret.. I'm now helpless to protect my people.. A ranting noble on a throne forced to ask others for help. It's a pitiful sight I'm sure."
"My lord! You mustn't speak ill of the divine bloodline so lightly I implore you!"
"Heh, Cerron it is the truth. Still when push comes to shove I plan to strike back again, I'll stop that thing or die trying."
OOC Jess may roll history with advantage (Being from Tristain) to know the political/physical aid they could offer and maybe even the intricacy of some of Radiance and Tristain's relationship ^^

She will then politely be silent as the king takes over the conversation.
But given a chance she will be keen to visit more with this person. In simply studying him from across the room, can Jess make any deductions?

I think we should address the issue that my comrades and I came here to discuss." He hesitates, glancing at those behind him before continuing, "It has to do with Glazing Winds, Simon, and some things most would consider myths like the red daggers and the blushing bloom.

Sy is continuing to stand still, silently. He wouldn’t want to say something to dampen the king’s thoughts of the group he was travelling alongside.
Cerron had clasped his talons at the thought of mending a relationship. There was a hint.. Of pain and anger in his eyes. His expression had almost screamed "What can be mended?" However he had decided instead to cross his arms and offer a nod. The king on the other hand seemed curious to Corvus's words though he did look him over studying the intents of his words and his passion.

Jess may roll history with advantage (Being from Tristain) to know the political/physical aid they could offer and maybe even the intricacy of some of Radiance and Tristain's relationship ^^
