(Hmm, my guess is the king could benefit from a greater restoration spell, but I can’t learn that until level 9)
Jess says, “I’m sure you have access to druids and healers more powerful than I, but if not…. With your permission, I could attempt a spell or two that may restore your strength? Please forgive my impertinence, I only wish to serve.”
"Heh.. Honestly I am grateful, we in Radiance are not known for Druids but we do have a few Cleric's. The grand priest.. She was not able to heal me. Whatever it is that ails me.. She says is specific to my connection.
Jess remembers that Tristain and Radiance share a close relationship. Tristain could offer aid in Druids and healing magic for the army of Radiance. They also know how to traverse the dangerous lands of Alba if one had needed too. They could offer militaristic aid as well knowledge to troops traveling through any wildlife of course aid in healing both magical and non magical.
"I must say, aside from Cerron I've yet to see someone worry in such a way. Heh, as an adventurer I more so imagined annoyance to see a noble standing aside idly by.I am grateful truly. I expected a bit.. Rougher of a bunch honestly even Knights don't stay hopeful long before becoming a bit gruffer. I wonder if you all could help my son out of his shell... Ahh no I really shouldn't ask for more than I already have."
“With your permission, I would like to discuss your condition with the grand priest, when I have the time to do so, perhaps after dealing with the chimera, as that sounds like a time sensitive issue. There must be something that can be done.”
“And as for your son, I would love to hear more about what you mean, helping him out of his shell, and what we could do to help.”
Jess figures that interacting with more Vintsvents will increase their chances of discovering their enemy.
Corvus takes in the reactions of both Cerron and the King. He can tell his words are having some sort of effect and this pleases him.
The warlock is surprised when the King so openly shares his plight, this man seems to be putting an awful lot of trust in strangers. No wonder Cerron worries so much...
Drez offers a small smile, glad that it at least seems like they can trust the King. Perhaps they can make a good ally with him if all continues to go well. "I see, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I am glad that we can at least work together to solve this." He explains in full the situation with Simon and everything that happened at Glazing winds. Though, he does leave out the part about the cultists, not really wanting to get his own personal issues wrapped up in all this. He does explain what happened to Simon following their fight, but again leaves out the parts he deems personal. He also explains what happened with the Red Daggers and the false dragons on their way to Radiance--leaving room for Corvus or Jess to pipe in to explain what they saw on the other side of the mountain. Once he's finished his story, he says, "So, yes, I believe that the blushing bloom is in some form real. The Red daggers are after it, and it may or may not have been involved in the ritual used for Simon's Awakening."
He nods when Jess offers aid and asks further about Edward's son. He's perfectly fine with just helping for the sake of helping, but he can also see the other angle here--meeting the 'shy son' in order to hopefully rule him out as the suspect. "Whatever we can do to help I am more than happy to contribute," he says. "Especially since you have been so willing to hear us out and consider what we've been dealing with. Most others who've heard even a fraction of what we dealt with on the mountain don't believe a word of it."
Kocino clears his throat before stepping forward. “May I approach, your highness?”
As he approaches, he digs into a pocket of his apron and palms a small item. Kocino gives a deep bow to the king and offers him a small wrapped candy. “It may not fix you, but everyone likes sweets.”
The king listens to Drezmir's story there is a hint of doubt but it slowly begins to recede as he carries on. Cerron even seems a bit more on edge than usual with his arms crossed staring out at Jess,Drez,Corvus,Kocino,Sy.
"I'd normally have my doubts.. But you are a knight of Radiance and it seems you've already helped Glazing Winds where I have failed. Lady Jess, if you wish in the upper district the church of Dawn should have the grand cleric. Though they could not help me before, I understand wanting to see for yourself."
The king had smiled softly he seemed ready to sit up and grab the candy but Cerron had flown over far too quick before grabbing it himself.
"It will be tested and examined before his lordship eats it."
"Cerron.. I doubt he's trying to poison me with candy."
"It's better to be safe than sorry my lord. These tall tales seem to be.. Much but you did help Glazing Winds.. If you aren't lying or possess forged papers. Still, I am grateful for our contract on the chimeria but I hope you understand my caution."
Drez raises an eyebrow when Cerron swipes the candy and semi-accuses them of lying, but he doesn't remark on it. Instead, he just smiles and says, "Of course, we understand." He glances back at his companions, "Well, unless anyone has anymore questions, I think we are ready to be on our way." He looks back at the king, "Is there anything else we should know about this chimera before we face off with it? Any known weaknesses? If not I understand, I think we are all pretty used to flying blind by now." He chuckles, "But if there is anything else of use that you could tell us we would appreciate it."
Cerron had crossed his arms tilting his head a bit confused by Kocino's reaction. However he seemed rather quick to move on from the event. He had nodded to Drezmir's statement afterwards.
"I suppose it is fair, given this is our first meeting and all."
The king had chuckled, a glimpse of nostalgia in his eyes upon the question on the Chimeria.
"I remember my first fight with a Chimeria.. Many act different and some our stronger than others. This one was real meaty! As for a weakness.. They are dumb and there attention is easily gained so you can reliably protect those in the back against one. That being said it does understand pain.. And will attack whoever causes it the most. It can fly and though it can breath fire it has to restore that energy. It's sorta random how quickly it restores.. It's very strong and grouping up isn't wise due to that fire. They are also very hard to sneak up on. I.. I hope that helps?"
Corvus shakes his head slightly when Kocino waltzes up to the king to hand him some candy, then smirks when Cerron snatches it away. He had seen that coming a mile away, but the other warlocks remark humored him. Corvus isn't sure if he will ever understand Kocino, is cooking really all that drives him? The goal seems so small to him, but maybe that is for the best. So long the elf remained his ally, the Aarakocra will deal with his odd ideals.
His attention is drawn back to the king when he starts discussing the Chimera. This is good information. He nods, "Yes, that helps. With that information we can form an effective strategy." He turns to Drezmir, "Shall we be off then?'
"Yes, that is very helpful," Drez says, giving Jess a glance as he knows she's the tactician of the group when it comes go combat. Surely she'll put that information to good use. "Alright then, let's be off." He gives a small bow to the king before turning to leave.
Jess nods thoughtfully. "This information will be useful, we thank you. And now, we best be getting on with the task."
Jess is ready to go. She will brainstorm with the party when able:
"If we could protect ourselves from fire, that would be a great advantage. I can protect myself, but how to protect the rest of us...? But honestly, I'm most worried about the creature's ability to fly. However, I do believe I can come up with a solution for that, if given enough time to commune with the spirits of nature, I may be able to come up with a way to bind the creature to the ground. If we determine to set out on this quest first thing in the morning, that should give me enough time to meditate on this issue."
(OOC she can learn earthbind after a long rest, might be useful?)
As they make their way out, Drez nods as he listens to Jess, "Yes, anything you can do to keep the beast on the ground would be helpful..."Then he remembers the wind-surfing concept they'd heard about at the inn. Couldn't that come in handy? "Wait a moment, that's still a good idea, but what if we took a bit of a detour first? Our friend at the inn mentioned some sort of contraption that could let us fly and possibly aid in fighting a dragon...if I remember correctly. Perhaps that would be worth checking out before we embark on this mission. Besides, I also need to pick up Leonard's sword for him as well, I don't want to leave that promise unfulfilled any longer than necessary."
He pauses, "Like the king said, our best plan of attack would be to surprise it. We should keep our most durable fighter up front as well..." He trails off, suddenly missing Gilded again, but shakes his head instead of saying anything. Gilded has taken his own path, so they'll have to figure out who can fill his spot for this fight. "Which...I suppose is probably me unless I'm mistaken."He chuckles, "Either way, we should plan to sneak up on the chimera and hit it with a hard attack before it has time to react. Perhaps you could use that binding ability you mentioned first to keep it grounded for as long as possible." He glances at Jess as he says this, then turns to the rest of the group, "Any other thoughts? I'll gladly take the front, unless one of you thinks you are better suited. Aside from my potion and the healing ointment from Gwen, I have no way to heal anyone should someone go down. If I go down, someone with healing abilities should be able to help me out, and anyone without such abilities could just take my potion or ointment to use on me or someone closer to death."
He gives everyone a moment to respond, then says, "Is... everyone alright with us going to collect the sword first? And is anyone else interested in wind-surfing? Or do you think that would be a waste of time?" He looks to Jess, "You said you need time to prepare that spell right? Perhaps you could rest while I collect the sword? I'm not sure how long that's going to take."
Jess says, “No, I think resting overnight will be adequate. And I suspect that learning to fly the boards will take some time, but certainly we could look into it, you’re right. Anyway, I want to pick up my dagger as well, hopefully they’re finished with it by now.”
Probably split up to hit those various places then the tavern to make whatever final plans, check out the flying boards to see if feasible, sleep, chimera in the morning depending on what we think of the flying boards

The king's smile had grown in size.

After the next post I can continue the scene of them leaving if everyone is ready ^~^
I’m fine with leaving.
