Song tried to distract them, but somehow she just distracted Khessa instead -- woops!
Attacks on Khessa's 17 AC
Demon C goes for its claw attack! 9, 4 damage
Demon D goes for its disadvantage and bad attack! If it misses, it will decide to go for the open window. That would let Khessa and Song react with an attack of opportunity. It isn't very smart. 9, 8 damage (Khessa's AC is 19 for this attack)

Demon D runs for the window, Khessa and Song can make an attack of opportunity on it!

Taking a guess to speed things up (when you come back to this thread, if my assumptions were wrong feel free to correct me); assuming Khessa's attack of opportunity, hitting AC 18 and doing 14 damage, killed Demon D outight.
So now Clara and Aster should be up and only Demon C would be still standing.
So I'd have Clara bonfire it and Aster trying to skewer it with his rapier.
"Only one left!" rejoyce Khessa, with the adrenaline rushing through her veins from the euphoria of being still alive and having so far managed to protect all the refugees as she set out to do "All against it! Let's wipe him out of Toril's face!"
They have all been defeated! The refugees seem shell-shocked from the attack, but otherwise, everyone seems to have made it out in one piece.
Before I progress the story, did you want to initiate any conversation or take a rest for any reason? I don't believe anyone in the party suffered much damage at all, thankfully. Aster is -3 HP, but he has 10 HP left.

Khessa suffered much damage (to say nothing of the fact that she also had to use her Secon Wind) so she could use a short rest... The wounded needed still some hours to rest, if I well remember? If so, Khessa also will rest for about an hour (taking a short rest).
Anyway, she'd like to know something more about Aster... He fought at her side to defend the refugees... this means a lot to her (and hopefully to the refugees too!), so she'd like to talk a little to him, both to thank him and to find out why he was imprisoned.
Khessa is bleeding from many superficial wounds, but she is so relieved that all of the refugees have come out unscatched. She had been so worried for them...
'I've freed you to give you life, not death...' she thinks, while she looks at them one by one. So many faces, so many eyes, so many souls... so much LIFE...
As her blue eyes finally meet the ones of Clara, she smiles brightly: "You know? Maybe I'll listen to your advice and take a breather". She pats her on the shoulder "Great job, anyway. The few times that I saw you in Twardens lighting fires like that, I did not realize that such ability could have come in handy in battle too!"
She then embraces Song: "We did it! I almost had an heart attack, seeing you and the others come out of the relative safety of the house to help me! But all went well in the end".
Then she meets Aster eyes: "I asked you to collaborate in a simple task... but you did far more and put your life at stake to help me defend the refugees. I think this demonstrates beyond any doubt that you are quite different from the other drow, the one that had enslaved us... and you" she spoke with louder voice at this point, so that all could hear... and hopefully remember. "Plus, in spite of your small height and small blade, you fight incredibly well!" she winks "A demonstration that, at least on the battlefield, skill matters more than size? Why the drow had caged you like us, by the way? If I may ask, that is".
(OOC: Khessa finds Aster of small height not only because he is a drow, who usually is shorter than a human, but also because she is one of the tallest women you can meet - same for the rapier: not only it's a drow's rapier, so probably even smaller than a human's, but it's also a weapon quite smaller than the impressive greatsword)
(Go ahead and take your hour-long short rest. Did you want Aster to spend his one hit die? It's a d8. He is missing 3 HP, so its your call.)
Aster is indeed short compared to Khessa. He looks up at her with a quizzical expression as she approached him and blinked, laying a hand on his chest. "I fight well, you say? I should hope so or else the lessons my mother spent on her pitiful child were a waste." The way he speaks is light and sarcastic. There is something hidden in what he told you, but it seems whatever it is he has already made light of it. "My kin lock up people for many reasons, I'm sure you understand. Lolth requires great sacrifices and one wrong step is all it takes for some of us to get added to the pile. I'm glad to be gone, truly."

"They do what!?"Khessa can hardly believe what the other is telling "Human sacrificies!? Or, well, drow sacrificies? They offer to Lolth the life of people, even of they own kind? I would never have thought of that... I really fail to understand" disgust is almost palpable on her lips "how drow can choose to worship that vermin that pretends to be a goddess!"
"Anyway" the blonde warrior seems to calm down "what did you do so wrong to be condamned to such a fate? Did you kill? Did you steal? You can tell me, don't worry. After what you have just done for us, you are one of us, now, regardless of your past. It's just my curiosity"
"Lolth isn't all bad. If it wasn't for her, my people would have all died down here long ago. But survival has a price, and for people in the dark that's always a price worth paying. As for what I did, like I said, they would throw you up for sacrifice if you so much as blink wrong. I couldn't tell you why they threw me in there."

Khessa shakes her head in disbelief as her blonde wavy hair fluctuates from side to side: "If Lolth is not all bad, then I do not know what 'all bad' would be for you... If you say that most drow worship her because she has been the only one that helped them survive, that I can understand... even if I strongly doubt that she would be the one ready to help them. Should the drow start worshipping a different god and behaving like he wants, will not he help them in return? Anyway... conceding that Lolth might have helped them, if she in exchange requires sacrificies of her own faithfuls for a wrong blink... that's not a fair bargain. That is she taking advantage of the drow and their condition!"
"Anyway," she sighs, calming down again "let's leave religion aside. I'm not the best person to discuss it. It's not that I have much love for the gods, now... after what all of them have let happen to my family, my people and my village. Did I even try to pray to the gods, you know, as the drow dragged us slaves through the darkness of the underground?" a light of sad anger lights up in her blue eyes "One by one. All the ones that came to my mind. But no god did anything for me. In the end, if I got free (also freeing you and the others), it was because I did all by myself".
"Tell me about the creatures we just fought, instead!" Khessa is very interested "I heard you call them 'Manes'. And that you also called them 'cretins'. About the fact that they weren't too smart, I realize you were right. But what else do you know about them, besides their name and their stupidity? They looked like zombies... Are they dead drow brought back into service with black magic? Are thus they animated by a spell and stop or disappear if the caller is killed? You know, if we were to fight them again, I'd like to know everything we can about them... just to be able to exploit their weaknesses".
"Timely question, dear." Aster says knowingly. As he does, each body of these 'Manes' disappears in a soft pop of smoke. They disappear in the order in which they were killed. "Manes are demons... The lowest on the rung, so to speak. We have about a day before they reappear... And they will be quite mad. My kind don't summon them... Not usually, anyway. No, the Underdark is home to demons like that. My apologies, I forget surface dwellers are ill learned about the ongoings of this beautiful place." He bows in apology.
