Tandor takes a step toward the combatants but a rumbling purr from Gilbert stops him, reminding him of the real goal, here. "I think it's gonna be best if I don't help, Mialee. Sorry."
Edit: Also, Mialee takes a moment to try and see if this might be a sneaky pair of pickpockets or some other con. (Please let me know what you need me to roll for this if anything)
Dain and Mialee work on separating the pair, with the dwarf pulling the gnomish woman off the kobold kid.
"SIR! I'd thank you to UNHAND me while I deal with this thief!"
The kobold is about to take the opportunity to scamper off with his 'prize' clutched in his claws when Liber swoops down and yanks the onions from his grasp, holding them high above the heads of either combatant. True to the dragonborn's words, the onions are looking quite pitiful, smashed, wilted and dirty, and probably dubiously for eating even after a thorough cleaning.
The gnome lunges in Dain's grasp, but still doesn't manage to break free as an impeccably dressed kobold woman strides out of the crowd to stand between the gnome and the boy.
"That's enough, Lamai! You’re behaving no better than our parents did: stealing from me and attacking my son!”, she addresses the gnome, planting her fists on her hips.
"Kusa, you sneak! I SAW your boy take the onions from my stand!"
"Onions you stole from our seafood cart when you knocked it over!"
"WHAT!? I don't go near your smelly cart, I can't the the stink out of my hair after!"
Gilbert looks up at Tandor and licks his lips.
"What you're smelling, my dear, is FLAVOR. Something your noodles are severely lacking."
"Yeah, you tell her mom!"
"Hush, Gammon, I'll deal with you when we get home."The kobold boy seems cowed by the admonishment.
"If you dealt with him more severely and more often, he wouldn't be running around terrorizing honest vendors!"
"How I raise my boy is NONE of your business, Lamai Tyenmo! The opinions of a child-less noodle slinger carry no weight with me!"
There's a gasp from the crowd.
"And the opinions of a thieving vandal and her fatherless vandal spawn mean even less to me!"
There's a bigger gasp from the crowd.
The kobold woman begins rolling up her sleeves and taking off her bracelets as she advances on the gnome being held by Dain.

Dain sighs as the newcomer prepares to smash the woman he had pulled off of the kid. He lets the gnome woman go as he steps between the two women. Holding up his hands he takes a more persuasive tone this time. "Come on ladies, this be getting us no where. Why don't ye talk about this a bit more calmly, so we can be figuring out what be going on?" Persuasion rolled in game log, rolled a 14.
“You look like a capable sort. I’m Kusa Xungoon, proprietor of market-famous Xungoon Family Seafood: for a fish typhoon, you’ll wish for Xungoon! Help me deal with this scoundrel and I’ll make it worth your while!”
“Scoundrel?!” the gnome shouts, pushing around to address Dain as well. “You don’t look like you’re wrapped up in market politics. I’m Lamai Tyenmo. Help me figure out what’s going on here, and I’ll give you and your friends each a free order of delicious noodles from Tyenmo Noodles!”
"I asked him first, and free noodles would be a punishment! Free meals at Xungoon Family Seafood for you and your friends, and I'll pay you 10 gold to get to the bottom of this!"
"Free noodles and TWENTY gold!"
"Twenty gold and a feast of thrice-fried tarrasque trout, a meal fit for royalty!"
"I'll make our famous mobius noodles, a truly bewildering experience you will be able to tell your grandchildren!"
"Hah! Bewildering, because you'll be left wondering if other people actually enjoy them! Thirty gold and free meals for a YEAR!"
"It's fried three times to get the smell out of it! Help me prove that these thieves have been stealing and sabotaging my shop, and it's two years of free noodles, and FORTY gold!"
At least Dain managed to divert them from a bout of fisticuffs...
Tandor isn't sure that he'd describe either as being on the 'up and up', but they do seem to be genuinely proud of their own family shops, and dismissive of their rivals, though you suspect that is seasoned pretty liberally with hyperbole. Regarding the offered gold and food, they seem eager to outbid the other for your services, and if you came through and were able to give them evidence to prove that the other one is the underhanded sneak and help them ruin them, they'd consider that well worth the food and promised gold... in fact, you think if you were to want to, you could probably get them to go even higher.

OOC: Sorry I wasn’t clearer. He’s wondering if this is a ploy to distract them while someone else makes a play for the package.

"Ok, enough be enough." Dain grumbles, grabbing the gnome and trying to haul the two apart.
Rolled a 15 athletics. Advantage was a 14, so the 15 stands regardless if he is helped or not.
Mialee would have helped.

Liber grabs the onions and keeps it away from both parties.
20 athletics
"That is Enough! now, unless the both of you can agree on responsibilities and civil discourse, neither of you shall have these onions!
Besides, with what they've been through, you would have to clean and cook them today. otherwise, they'll expire tomorrow."
(ignore the warning at the top. it was 20 when i rolled, i edited post to add Liber's speech.)

Tandor eyes the combatants, trying to decide if they are what they say they are. What do you think, Gilbert? Are they on the up and up?
The cat considers carefully, then, Maybe, but I like the gnome. She's got fish.
We'll get you some fish or something like that while we're here.

ooc: Is the night market a year-round thing? Based off of these people it sounds like it's always going on, not just as a festival or anything

If it is, it's so well played that they probably already took it, they seem to only care about their feud.

I point and tandor and use Message to whisper to him "you may want to check yourself to ensure you still have the package on you."
"Why? No one's been near me. That'd just be a chance to show people I've got something," he sends back.
Gilbert, has anyone been near me?
Tandor the White, Human Life Cleric
Near you? Besides me and your coworkers? Not really.
