"We saw him move a piece of fruit to his shoulder and then it disappeared. Also, we saw him with a piece of fruit, the same one or a different one, and then just a brief instant later it was no in his hand but he wasn't chewing. That's why I think that," Tandor replies absently, looking around for Kusa or her son with Gilbert's help.

ooc: If he cannot find either of them, he will find the others and suggest they just confront the pepper merchant anyway.
You head towards the pepper merchant's stall, and while you don't see Kasem, you see his brother Vi, who seems to be running the shop at the moment. The chaos of Liber's attack seems to have dissipated somewhat here, patrons are a bit sparse, but vendors seem to be minding their stalls.
"Greetings, and a good Night Market to you all! If you like the heat of a good kick of pepper, then Spicy Brothers has you covered! And for those of you with a real taste for adventure, try your luck at the Aroon Family Pepper Challenge, in the central plaza every hour!"
His call is directed at you, in that you're the potential customers walking by, but it has the practiced patter of something he likely calls out over and over through the night.

Mialee tries to surreptitiously sneak out of sight and into the pepper stall, to try and find either the fruits she keeps hearing about or any evidence against the pepper brothers.
Mixtli will ask more information about the spicy pepper challenge, in the hopes to distract Vi so the others can get a better look around the stall.

"Thinking about testing your fortitude against the Peppers, eh? I haven't seen anyone else matching the description, so I'm assuming you're part of the crew that sprinted through Sid's Prawn Challenge? Missed your show, but heard the buzz after! Going to go for all three? Prawns, Peppers, and ... ah, wish there was something caterpillar related starting with a P! Perseverance?", Vi says with a grin as Mixtli asks. "Anyway, the Aroon Family Pepper Challenge is a family tradition going back to my father and uncle, used to just be a side game here at the stall, but has been wildly popular since we stepped it up to a Market Game! Hopefully it will continue to be a major draw after I leave as well! Basics is that there's three rounds, each round you pick a pepper from the basket and eat it. If you leave the table or reach for the milk, you're out. Anyone who makes it through the round advances."
Next to the stall and tent where the pepper wares are displayed and spicy snacks served is an adjoining tent, into which Mialee deftly slips. It is dark in here, but she is able to see well enough to immediately note that is seems to be used for sleeping, storage and business. There are two cots, a desk with stacks of papers and ledgers, and assorted crates of various sizes. She notes a bit of straw sticking out from the base of a larger crate that has other crates piled on top of it. Cautious of shifting about piles of crates, she circles the crate, and notes that there are holes drilled into the back, though they are small enough and positioned near the top of the crate to where even with her darkvision, she can't get a good look at what's inside. It doesn't smell like peppers though. Continuing her inspection, she finds a small lock on the back, it seems that the crate opens from the end where she spotted the bit of straw rather than from the top.

Trencher walks into the stall with the others, but comes in last. He stays fairly quiet, except for beaming when they are recognized as the champions of the prawn challenge. He then remembers that these people may be the culprits to the fire and such, and calms his smile down.
He waits until there is a long lull in conversation, that might make it odd that they are all in here, and stated, "I was given a tour of this area earlier today, wasn't it your relative or something that I maybe talked to? Is he around, he was very full of knowledge."

"I am with you, Tandor."
Though Trencher doesn't really know exactly how they are going to confront him, he will be their backup if something goes wrong.
Liber follows them, and he will make it clear to the kobold that, even though the authorities won't do anything, the party will.
(sorry, was sick this entire morning and afternoon.)
Mialee shrugs.
"I'll admit I don't get the desire to help them out still, but I'll have your backs."
Mixtli follows along

They seem to not be in your vicinity. Gilbert says he could maybe try to track them if you want to run them down.
