Tandor reaches out to the cup of tea again but, as he dips his finger into it, he looks up sharply, like he heard a noise. "What was that?" he asks. His finger tips the tea over, so it spills off the table and onto the floor. "Oh, shit. Damn it!" He looks at the construct. "I'm sorry. Can you make some more, please, for her?"
If the construct complies, Tandor will carefully watch it prepare the tea.
Mixtli will walk to the door, not opening it yet, and will try the 'sleep' button.
Nothing happening when doing this?

Tandor blatantly knocks over the teacup and the construct rapidly moves forward to catch the spill... then stops, the glow between its component parts dulling as it straightens up before the component parts of its armor shift and compact, slipping overtop of one another until it resembles a suit of armor as it might be packed away for transport in a trunk. It hovers over to a stone pedestal that crackles with a few brief arcs of lightning that connect to the armor, holding it aloft as a glowing bubble extends out to encompass the deactivated construct.

Mixtli quietly opens door slightly to have a look and seeing the construct move back he walks in.
"I think I can ensure that the construct will follow someone else's commands with this object that apparently remotely controls it as well. But I will need some more time investigating to get it done. For now I think we fulfilled our job?"
What does mixtli have to do to get the construct to follow someone commands from someoneelse?

Tandor nods, but is unsatisfied. He moves to the tea making supplies and begins a thorough inspection of them. Maybe a poison was substituted for an ingredient, or added to one. Pulling out some paper, he makes a list of everything he can identify and takes a sample of what he cannot. That task finished, he sits on the floor so he is within 10 feet of the supplies and the desk and dead body.
"I just need about 10 minutes to see if there is poison here. I think she may've been murdered. That OK." Assuming it is, he ritually casts Detect Poison and Disease
Mixtli is confident that with a short rest he'd be able to re-key the construct.
Liber helps lay out things for Tandor to survey once he's finished his ritual casting, and the cleric gets a twisting feeling of wrongness coming from a stone pot of honey. It would seem either the honey is bad, or has been deliberately tampered with in an effort to poison the researcher.

"You just got it to stop? Just like that???" Trencher asks astonishedly. He nods his head appreciatively. And then kind of sadly lowers his weapon, not having spent one iota of muscle power swinging it.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
After Liber's spell is done, Tanor dones a pair of gloves, murmurs a prayer to Pelor, then carefully opens the pot of honey. After sniffing the contents, he dips his dagger into the contents then examines what comes out. Has it turned or has it been poisoned.
Mixtli will ask for the short rest to re-key the construct before they get back to the guildhall.

Liber grasps the jar and sticks a finger in the honey, taking time to cast a spell to identify any magical spells at work, but after ten minutes (during which Mixtli begins tinkering with the controller), he comes to the conclusion that the honey, and any taint it carries, is mundane.
The dragonborn carefully wipes and washes his finger multiple times.
Tandor examines the honey further, and sees no discoloration or odd growths on it, it seems to be the color, consistency and scent of honey. Taste as yet unexplored, it is indistinguishable from normal honey.
Trencher sees plenty of stuff that's probably worth something to the right people, but nothing easily slipped in a pocket.

Trencher is gonna look around the rooms for any books that might be around. And look for a sack or bag that he can put thus found books into.
He is going to carry those books back to the next big city and try to sell them. He is not looking for handwritten notes from the lab, instead books, not personal stuff from the dead lab woman.
Once his bag is full of books he plops them down near the front door and then heads over to Mixtli and he asks anyone nearby, "How is it going?" He is not sounding in a rush at all, more impatient maybe. Maybe irritated that not one weapon swing was needed. He will then find somewhere to take a seat and wait.
