Aurelia winces as the guard goes down. She's not the most moral of men... uh women... dragonborn but even so killing is not really to her taste. She flicks blood from dagger and short sword and looks around.
"Surrender now and you'll live," the golden scaled dragon calls out to the surviving guards. "Drop your weapons!"

As two more guards drop, Leryin slowly lets out a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding. They were decidedly gaining the upper hand now, and with the luxury, he wasn't fond of the idea of leaving corpses behind them. He watches the expressions of the guards cautiously as Aurelia called for their surrender. That would hopefully do the trick. Just in case they weren't happy to comply, however, he unsheathed his rapier and approaches the guard, hoping that sufficient attention would be on Aurelia for him to avoid notice until he was close enough. He raises his hand, with the intent of knocking him down with the pommel of the rapier rather than using the blade, should the guards prove obstinate.
Leryin is ready to attack nonlethally (Attack: 8 Damage: 6) if Aurelia's attempt to talk them down does not work.

If Guard 4 is still standing, Hope will try to non-lethally stab a guy, despite how comical that is: Dagger: 19 attack roll. 4 piercing damage.
Else:
Hope's eyes turn red as she blasts the weakest looking guard with an E.B., not holding back: Eldritch Blast: 21, 10 force damage.

Flash nods to Aurelia as she downs the guard he just couldn't seem to take down. No sense in getting possessive about kills - he'd learned that early. Put on a show in your fighting and your killing, but the main thing was to survive.
As he didn't seem to be in immediate danger, and some attempt was being made at negotiating with the remaining two guards, Flash decided to follow one of the other tips he'd learned - sometimes it's better to do nothing. So he waited, and watched, and admired the rest of this group he'd found himself in. All very skilled in their own way. Plus there was the enigma of Hope, so coy and defenceless, and yet when her life was on the line she revealed herself a cold-blooded killer. It should have warned him away, but it only made him more intrigued.

Watching two of the guards fall, Guard 5 attacks Verona with renewed vigour: Attack: 11Damage: 10
Just as Guard 5 swings, Verona follows it up with a bite of her own. Her fangs sink into the flesh of the guard as he scrambles and screams in shock pain.
Swinging and missing multiple times, Guard 4 steps in and swings at Hope's neck, desperation in his eyes: Attack: 5Damage: 6
Guard 4 manages to sidestep Thomas' attack, barely managing to parry it with his own blade.
Flash waits with arms up, waiting to Dodge any attack made his way
There's something fierce when a Dragonborn yells at you, and Aurelia was no different. Sharp teeth bared, and voice turning into a draconic rumble. The two remaining guards look at her, their faces going pale, fully intending to surrender.
Leryin approaches the guard and swings his rapier, but it harmlessly clangs against the guard's helmet. He gives Leryin a confused look
While Guard 4's attention is on Aurelia, Hope manages to sink a dagger into his thigh. He looks over at her in shock. "Ow! I surrender, I surrender dammit!"

Verona opens her left hand and says "Altuwt" 10 blackberries appear in hand and she eats 9 of them to heal herself. She saves the last berry for later. goodberry
"Now that is over lets continue on." She waits for the others before heading towards the East gate.
Thomas holds up a calming hand towards Verona, ‘A moment, please.’ he says carefully, having just seen her bite a guard!
He then faces the remaining guards, rapier at the ready. ‘Throw your weapons, and start talking. Who were you working for, and why were you inciting the rioters?’
The guards throw their weapons to the ground and raise their hands. "Look," Guard 4 says, "we were hired only a week ago and told to make sure we give the Flaming Fists a hard time, cause a bit of chaos, and the like."
"Exactly," Guard 5 chimes in, "We were to only kill in self defence and kill anyone that got in the Dukes' business. Standard stuff, we didn't think anything of it. Just orders."

While Thomas is asking his questions Aurelia moves forward to collect the dropped weapons from the surrendered guards... and their fallen comrades. Best to keep them from having second thoughts!
"We were hired by the Vathampurs," one of them says, "and given these uniforms and a sack of gold. We were told we were to replace the Flaming Fists after the riots settled and the refugees left the walls."

Leryin's cheeks heat slightly as he fails in his attempt to bring the guard down - he tries to play it off with a shrug, hoping no one had noticed. Not difficult, as the guards' surrender drew most of the attention. Quietly, he resheathed his rapier, subtly straightening out his clothes that had become slightly ruffled in the scuffle.
He casts a glance at Verona, not quite hiding the consternation in his gaze. He hadn't had the time to think much about it during the fight, but now - "Are you alright?"He asks, concern evident in his voice - concern about what exactly was a different issue. "That wasn't a pretty fight."
Once he's assured of the wellness of his compatriots, he turns his attention toward the surrendered guards. He raises an eye as they confessed the names of their employers - he'd seen the sigils, of course, but he hadn't been sure if they were merely using the House's name or truly working under their orders. "So were the last guards we ran into. Seems like they're making a power play." He murmurs his contribution, leveling a frown at the surviving guards. "This seems like information that should be passed on to the captain." He glances over at the road leading to the eastern gate. "Does anyone have some rope, or manacles?"
Verona sheepishly turns to Leryin "Yes I am fine now. That fight brought out a more feral side of me." She quickly tucks away the bloodied handkerchief.
‘I don’t think we’ll need rope, will we?’ Thomas asks the defeated guards, giving a deliberate look towards Verona ‘Now let’s be going to see the Guard Captain, shall we?’ he finishes, gesturing with his rapier for the guards to precede the group towards their destination…
Hope was about to take this further, but stopped short as she regained her temper. "Oh dear... yes, let's run off.. I'm sure the Guard Captain would like to hear about this attempt on our lives as well.."
