Eris's spell pings, above the general background magic built in to the chamber itself, a powerful magic emanating from a particular spot on the wall. Pointing Zoide and Da'Kal in that direction, they spot it at once: an odd-shaped metallic plate has been crudely jammed into the wall, destroying one of the runes inscribed there. Princess and Icarus, in the other chamber, find an identical object stabbed into that wall as well. A jagged sigil has been carved into each of the objects.
"Huh? You guys are seeing this right?" Eris stares at the glowing slab on the wall, her red eyes wide with curiosity as her cat ears perk up and her cellphone-like device zooms back into her pocket. "I'm getting some minute traces of magic from these weird plates embedded within these sturdy was. Only thing is... who put them in there in the first place? And where did they come from? Surely it couldn't have been one of us right?"

The metal plates seem to just be pieces of scrap metal that someone has poured a whole lot of magical energy into. The magic isn't subtle nor complex: the culprit just needed a mass of energy in one place to upset the delicate balance of the simulation. The sigil is a sort of embellished V shape:
The sigil doesn't seem to carry any magic of its own; it looks more like someone signing their work. You don't recognize the symbol; perhaps the faculty would?
Eris also copies the sigil in her notebook much to her curiosity before following Icarus to confront Miken. At the moment Miken says he doesn't know what it was, her ginger ears twitched. "We should!" Eris pipes up with a gleeful smile. "If neither of us know what this is then maybe the masters of this place would! It wouldn't hurt to ask won't it?"
But then, immediately afterwards, Eris steps back from the crowd a little and her playful demeanor changed for three seconds. Deep down, the Catian herself has mentally taken note of her biggest suspect. "Something tells me Miken is not the same person we just met in the café..." She whispers to herself. "The way he reacted... to that thingy... It didn't sound like he was being honest. But... I don't know."

You can't be at all certain, but it did seem for a moment like there was more recognition in Miken's expression than he's admitting to. On the other hand, if anything he seemed surprised, even frightened, to see it here, so you don't think he was the one that sabotaged the simulation.
Your two teams, and the two instructors, reconvene in the corridor outside the simulation chambers, and you show them what you found.
Boatswain Tarto scowls, chomping down on her cigar. She points to the sigil as she looks to Saerthe Abizin. "That look familiar to you?"
Saerthe's quicksilver eyes scan the object coldly. "Vocath. I should have suspected. It appears that the mercane’s grudge against Mirt has become a vendetta. The Old Wolf must be told."
"Vocath? Who is that? And why target Mirt in the first place??? Why is this even happening? What's with all of this? Why wasn't I told of this earlier?" Eris rambles after having her brain explode from all of this new information being thrown in her once-cute face before going back to scribbling more notes and informing her captain via her cell phone on what data she has acquired. Clearly this time the data and experiences she received wasn't as pleasant as the last planet she visited.

Icarus hurriedly copy’s the sigil in his notes and shows it to Miken

Miken's eyes widen slightly as Icarus shows him the sigil. "I– I've never seen a glyph like that before. We should show the boatswain."
Eris also copies the sigil in her notebook much to her curiosity before following Icarus to confront Miken. At the moment Miken says he doesn't know what it was, her ginger ears twitched.
