Anything of importance on the papers? Investigation check if need be: 11
It's mostly pretty standard employment contract/military commission legalese. There's a bunch of non-disclosure stuff, and maybe a slightly concerning amount of waiving of liability for injury, disability, death, undeath, planar dispersal, temporal translation, or being otherwise displaced or transformed on an existential level.
Sounds like adventure! Yaris signs happily

Zap seems to be a bit lost as to what to do. The concept that there was no solution seemed to making them think even harder. The celluloids inside their body shimmering and sparking with a sure sign of deep thought occurring. When given clear instructions to head to administration for getting their classes assigned the plasmoid seems quite happy with the far more clear concept of following instructions. They move off towards the area indicated checking the maps like they were told to do if one wants to make sure not to get lost. Zap already had the map memorized and wondered if they needed to keep looking at the map each time they came across one. They didn't want to get lost though so they played it safe. This caused them to lag behind a bit but they eventually make their way and end up in the back of the group signing up for various courses. Zap was told they had a talent for piloting so they were aiming to do that.
"Hello Sor'kur, I am Zap. I want to join." When she hands the plasmic creature a form to fill out they take one of the pens and semi-absorb it into their being so that half is inside them and the other half of the pen is sticking out. They have a very messy hand writing but manage to fill out the entire form with a request to join the piloting program. The bubbling mass of Zap then hands the paper to Sor'Kur, says "It is filled out. What does Zap do next?" and waits for them to tell them where they need to go next.
When Zoide mentions a decision of who runs the helm they reply "Zap is here to fly ship. Zap would prefer to but also assumes I will need rest. Perhaps one is at helm during the day and another has helm at night?"
"I'm willing to let whoever wants to helm take the helm, I was more nominating myself in a... designated survivor sort of capacity? Last resort kind of thing?"
Sor'kur collects your filled out forms, exclaiming happily, "Excellent, yes! Welcome to Spelljammer Academy! Now, your induction packets," she produces from behind the desks, arms working bucket-chain style, a collection of items for each of you. First is a small cloth pack, "Your uniform, yes, and a spare. Red, for cadet security level. Also toiletries as are needed by various species, yes?" Next she exchanges your green visitor helmets for blue ones, "Blue security access is temporarily granted, yes, for completion of your orientation activities. And yes, here is your orientation activity list." She hands each of you a piece of parchment with a checklist written in a neat hand:
On the back a second piece of text has been added, in different handwriting:
"Be sure to stay within designated security zones, yes," and she explains the color-coded security levels: the green visitor access you previously had allows access only to the sea dock, administration and simulation chambers; the red cadet access that you now hold allows you to access the cadet quarters, stores and various training areas. The blue sailor level gives access to the cargo areas and the sky dock; you have this temporarily in order to visit the sky dock for orientation. Above that is the purple officer level, and finally the gold bridge clearance. Each level includes all the access privileges of the lower levels.
"... and stop at checkpoints. They do not joke, yes, about disintegration." Sor'kur seems a little disturbed by this fact. Brightening, she continues, "Ah, last, yes, requisition voucher for required equipment," a second piece of parchment for each of you is marked as being redeemable at the academy stores for 50 gp of gear. "Already you can cross off the first orientation activity, yes?"
Yaris experiences a surge of excitement at the mention of service weaponry, he feels empty without his quarterstaff and is looking forward to getting acquainted with something similar or whatever they have here for him to use.
Turning to the others "Alright, should we work top to bottom for the checklist? I think if I'm not looking at the map upside down, the quarters are closest just above us?"

The plasmoid thanks the tri-kreen for the supplies but seems unsure what to do with a lot of it. Zap never had much on them and now they were handed a set of clothing. As with most of their items they just stick it on their body. They have never worn clothes before but seem to grasp they need the outfit to show they are a cadet. They take the blue helmet and just place it on top of their head like the last helmet but it doesn't go over their mask as they prefer it being free to move around so people can tell where Zap is looking. They make a little pseudo pod to carry the items in a pack of sorts they seem to have. Once things are stored they begin to move towards the next objective. That is when Yaris asks a question, "Yes, Zap was told lists are done in order. Stores are just above us. We need to go one more up. Zap will lead the way if you get lost. I make sure to check the maps often." Zap seems to switch between third and first person when talking about themselves but otherwise they begin to make their way towards the cadet quarters.
"Well that sounds like a plan, lead the way Zap!" Yaris smiles and gives a nod to Zap, Yaris' sense of direction isn't the best and cannot help but think its probably best he isn't in charge of navigating large vessels in the astral sea!
"'Disintegration'...? Hells, that's a bit excessive, don't you think?" Kiki mutters before folding up her papers and putting them away. "I think I'm with the others; work from the top down, ticking off one item at a time."
You make your way to the cadet quarters level, and through a security checkpoint where another copy of the warning notice you received is posted. The guards let you though with little delay, after checking your names against their list. You pass through into an area that contains a dormitory for you cadets and a smaller dorm for academy graduates; the Weeping Goddess tavern, which is largely deserted at this time of the morning but looks like it gets fairly raucous in the evenings; a refectory for cadets to have their meals, where a few cadets with no morning class are still eating a late breakfast out on the patio, looking out over the water far below; washrooms, the academy kitchens, and the laundry.
As you enter the dormitory, a giff duty officer takes down your names and hands out bunk assignments. As you all go to drop off your spare uniform in the footlockers provided by each bed, Zap notices that they have been assigned a particularly desirable bunk, in an airy spot under a window, next to the laundry. Before they reach it, though, you see four older cadets marching toward you. One of them—a confident-looking moon elf—hurls her kit bag onto the bunk and says to you with a sneer, "Change of plan, greenie. This bunk’s mine now. Go tell the duty officer it wasn't to your liking, and we'll get ourselves swapped over. Tell him you've traded bunks with Veena." The elf points to an unkempt bunk in the noisiest section of the dorm, just outside the washrooms.
Zap's mask moves around in that it seems their face moves to look at something but the rest of their body does not. The mask positions itself so that it is looking at Veena then back to the bunk and back to Veena one more time as they say, "Hello, I am Zap. You say the bunk is not to Zap's liking?" The plasmoid looks over the bunk again and grows visibly confused as they search for some reason it will not work. It has a small lip around the edge of the bunk that works well for Zap when they sleep and revert back to a slimelike form. The mattress seems nice to them too as they like the softness it would provide for their form. After a long day it should be able to hold Zap's entire form as they relax into their blobular state and relax. Seeing nothing to dislike the plasmoid's mask tilts sideways in a way they know shows confusion and asks earnestly "What is it Zap doesn't like about this bunk?"
Yaris smiles at Zap's retort and gets ready to also intervene, he notices Kiki narrow her eyes and gives a small nod as a way of saying "I'm with you should this go south"

*Disintegration does not sound like fun at all*
*We will also follow the Zap*
Da"Kal follows the others, intrigued with the organization of the place and trying hard not to be unruly. Disintegration is serious business.
