The mine’s assayers worked here, weighing and assessing ore samples and paying the minors for their labor.
The centuries-old paper in the cubbyholes disintegrates when touched, but Arafiel who reads Dwarvish can see faint markings on a few scraps, recording weigh-ins and disbursements. Clearly, large amounts of wealth once made its way through this mine.
We are in the deep vales of the Sword Mountains. This rich mine of the Phandelver’s Pact was lost five hundred years ago during orc invasions that devastated this part of the North.
In the centuries since, countless prospectors and adventurers have searched for the lost mine, but none succeeded until we found the entrance a month ago. Unfortunately, we did not realize they we were being trailed by spies working for Nezznar, the Black Spider.
The drow is searching for the Forge of Spells, where the human mages of old Phandalin enchanted dwarven weapons and gnome gadgets. The hoard of powerful magic rumored to be hidden in the mines is a rich prize.”
He sits down to rest for a second. “I appreciate your help and I am sure if we are successful it will be profitable to us all but at the cost of my brothers. I am not sure if it is worth that.”
Ian finds the guardroom that once protected the nearby entrance to the mine, but it was overrun early in the fighting when the orcs attacked. Nothing but pieces of skeleton on the floor. Back out in the hallway there are two more directions to travel. Straight ahead from where you stand is a long hallway that is dark and would take you north. The other direction is to the right (east) and gives off a faint green glow.

Thagakh senses a faint smell of poison. Dense carpets of weird fungi cover large sections of the floor in this cavern. The growth includes puffballs a foot across, weird shelf fungus growing on stalagmites, and large stalks and caps a good five feet tall. Some of the puffballs glow with an eerie green phosphorescence.

Boghadair says to Ian "I think Johnson's hands were chilly, and he wants to warm the fingers up nice and limber for his next attempt at picking the lock."
Boghadair falls in place, taking up the last position in the group. He has his bow and arrow ready to provide cover fire at a moment's notice.
Tyrus hears nothing coming from the room before entering.
Old stone bunks in orderly rows line the walls of this chamber, and a corroded iron brazier full of old coals stands near the middle of the room. The bones of a half dozen dwarves and orcs lie strewn about, clad in scraps of armor. Three gray, hunched figures squat among the remains, pawing at the scraps and gnawing on the bones.

Thagakh lights up a torch and walks toward the area with the faint green glow.
He also sniffs the air for any mysterious odor that might come from the green glowy area because its color is usually associated with poison.

Thagakh leaves the torch in front of the toxic path and returns to the group to tell them what he found.
"Thagakh just found mushrooms on the glowy green path. Unfortunately it is the bad ones. We should stay out of that way.
Unless you can breath poison, Thagakh suggests we go to the north path."
Boghadair says "That's a brilliant plan, Thaggy! I have no interest in being poisoned, if it's something I can avoid. Let's head north."
"Same plan as last time then, fall in behind me."
Tyrus will lead the way north with his shield raised, readying a dodge action if combat ensues.

Thagakh makes an ok signal with his hand as he walks right behind Tyrus.
He'll also point the direction where he left his torch as they walk up north.
Ian follows Tyrus with blades ready. “What are we doing with the chest?”
As the group approaches the door to the north which is partially open, the lead character needs to roll a perception check.
