New adventure

After seeing the death of the creature, the half-orc regains his composure. He attempts to cook and eat it, particularly the large eyeball.

OOC. I was up first to start so I will go ... if it is not me I will do this on my next move.

Ian swings his Morningstar at the remaining Redbrand ‘s chest.

OOC Arafiel is correct.... since Ian entered the room ahead of Boghadair and Arafiel, he took over initiative.  Normally he is after Boghadair.

Ian crushes the life out of the second Redbrand.

Ooc Johnson are you just searching the room you are in or are you going down into the crevasse?

ooc: if there is a safe path down I will, otherwise I will concentrate on the main level. I can always come back to it when we have cleared the place.

OOC Crevasse. This steep-sided fissure is 5 to 10 feet wide and 20 feet deep. Its rough walls are easily climbed without an ability check. 

Your choice Johnson.

ooc: then yes. i’ll let the team know in case i need assistance.

While Thagakh is munching the juicy eyeball, he sees that Johnson is attempting to move down the crevasse.

The half-orc takes out his grappling hook tied with a rope and secures it on the column. He then gives the other end to Johnson.

"Thagakh wants you to be safe. Here take this"

Boghadair recovers any arrows and does a quick search of the bodies before readying his bow and arrow to sweep the next room.

"What do you say we check out that secret passage?  I've always liked secrets. "

thanks Thagakh, hope that things tastier then it looks. when i get back up we can clear the rest of the place.

Johnson roll a history check.

It is unnaturally cold at the bottom.

Currently heaped at the bottom among broken and well-gnawed bones is the half-eaten body of a man who is dressed like those in Phandalin.

The nothic keeps its hoard in a battered wooden chest hidden in a cubbyhole at the bottom of the crevasse, under the north bridge. The chest can’t be seen from the edge of the crevasse, but is obvious to any character who descends into the fissure. The chest contains 160 sp, 120 gp, five malachite gems, two potions of healing, and a scroll of augury.

The chest also holds a +1 longsword in a silver-chased scabbard. The sword is inscribed with the name “Talon,” and its hilt is worked in the shape of a bird of prey with outspread wings. 

OOC Boghadair are you going to allow the third Redbrand to get out the door?

OOC: oh I thought he was taken down.   I'll shoot him again,  instead of what I posted earlier.

if i can learn anything i will but with the clock ticking so i’ll make note of the body for any identifying features in case i can let someone know. then I’ll rejoin the other two up top.

ooc: I’ll mark the items down and let you keep track of the money for dividing up later.

Unless Tyrus has anyway to stop him, the third Redbrand is to the doors to the outside.

To Johnson from the history check

The half-eaten body is Thel Dendrar, the woodcarver of Phandalin who was murdered by the Redbrands. The outlaws left his corpse here for the nothic to feed on. 

The sword once belonged to a great knight named Aldith Tresendar, known as the Black Hawk. 

Sir Aldith died fighting off the orcs that attacked through the hidden caverns below his manor. Talon was lost here until the nothic found it.

While sitting near the currently roasted cave creature, the half-orc suggests something while licking his fingers after finishing the eyeball.

"Before we move, Thagakh would like to take short rest. Thagakh is very hurt from the fight. Old Akaas probably too."

Akaas is standing on the edge of the crevasse, listening for any trouble from Johnson. He turns to look at his half-Orc friend. "I'm afraid only a good night's sleep or a healing is going to help these old bones, my friend. I'm able to trudge on. I'll just have to be careful."

"You will answer for your crimes, Redbrand!"

OOC: Tyrus will move to the fleeing Redbrand as much as he can by dashing, giving chase if need be.
