"Come, my very large friend," Akaas says to Thagakh. "Let me teach you how to be patient." The old Halfling chooses a patch of grass and sits, crossing his legs in front of him. Closing his eyes, he reaches over and pats the grass beside him.
"Tell me your name again, large one," Akaas says in a very smooth voice, reminding Thagakh of the wind. Thagakh responds. "Thagakh," Akaas repeats. "That is a strong name. I have not had the privilege of knowing many half-Orcs in my many years. Where I am from, we have many large beasts, but not many large men. Of course," Akaas chuckles, "most men are large compared to me. I am from Chult. Where are you from, Thagakh?"
Tyrus thinks to hang back, worried his chain mail will give the group away, but seeing Kelli casually saunter up to the cave mouth, he shrugs, draws his longsword and shield, and moves with Kelli, standing back to back and ready to defend.
On the east side of the stream flowing from the cave mouth, a small area in the briar thickets has been hollowed out to form a lookout post or blind. Wooden planks flatten out the briars and provide room for guards to lie hidden and watch the area.... including a pair of goblins lurking there right now! Unfortunately for them, they do not notice your party yet. One appears to be sleeping and the other is looking off into the woods the other direction. Both Ian and Boghadair see the Goblins. The one awake goblin has no coverage from range attacks but the other (sleeping) goblin has half coverage.
Tyrus and Kelli can see just inside the mouth of the cave. A few uneven stone steps lead up to a small, dank chamber on the east side of the passage. The cave narrows to a steep fissure at the far end, and it is filled with the stench of animals.... savage snarls and the sounds of rattling chains greet your ears....

"I must find out for myself if someone is in need of rescuing. Or burying..." Tyrus thinks out loud.
He keeps himself in the middle of the pack, ready to rush forward and defend if needed, but not so far ahead that his chain mail gives the group away.

"Thagakh is very impressed. Next time, Thagakh should try that. Thagakh will watch the place while old Akaas feels the place"

About 10 minutes along the trail Johnson spots a snare trap. He points it out to the party and all safely pass.
Fifteen minutes after the snare Johnson notices a camouflage pit. Again all pass safely due to Johnson’s perception.
The path runs along a stream now that you all can see leads to the mouth of a cave. It is heavily wooded on both sides.
