New adventure

Noting the odd calmness, Tyrus asks a question of the dwarf.

"Gundren...what was the test of strength that you had us perform back in Neverwinter again?"

Gundren looks around at the group and smiles, “oh...back in Neverwinter.... I lost the .... arm wrestling match to the wereboar... really we must hurry... through the door please.... I must get back to Neverwinter.”  The smile is joined by sweat and some anxious twitching. 

Johnson does not find any traps around the door but it is clearly heavily secured.  From within there is only some occasional scratching sounds.

Thagakh grapples him with his other furry arm and presses the tip of his greatsword against Gundren's legs.

"Dwarf boss made the trials himself. Now, convince us why we shouldn't kill you right here.

Don't even bother intimidating Thagakh. We have means of escaping safely without going through that door."

Athletics 17

Gundren screams in a voice not his own or even Dwarvish. As he attacks Thagakh by slamming his fists into the half orcs face, he also changes his shape into a bluish, naked monstrosity.

From the area that the Hobgoblin had run, a large wolf attacks Tyrus and the Hobgoblin attacks Ian.

Wolf Attack: 22 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.

Tyrus please make a strength check

Hobgoblin Attack: 11 Damage: 5

inititive Johnson on the doppelgänger, Boghadair any target, Arafiel any target, Ian on Hobgoblin, Thagakh on Doppelgänger with advantage, Tyrus if roll higher than 11 otherwise knocked prone.

Right hand hits Thagakh and Hobgoblin hits Ian.

"Good thing Thagakh evaded that one. Otherwise, Thagakh would be unconcious."

The half-orc licks the blood dripping from his face showing a grin, and brings his greatsword towards the bluish naked monstrosity.

Tyrus is knocked prone by the rushing wolf.  Thagakh connects with his Greatsword.

Boghadair takes aim at the Hobgoblin he wounded previously.

After Arafiel takes his attack, Ian strikes out at the Hobgoblin with his daggers.

witchbolt on the doppleganger

Attack: 16 Damage: 12 lightning

Several of Johnson’s slashes land on the doppelgänger but the death blow comes from the burst of magic from arafiel. Boghadair misses his shot but it was a the distraction Ian needed to take down the Hobgoblin. As Tyrus struggles with the wolf, a giant Bugbear lumbers into the room dragging the beaten and unconscious body of Gundren Rockseeker.  He says, “ that is enough of this foolishness!  If you want this dwarf alive, you will keep your distance from me.  Drop your weapons and back up to that door behind you.” As he says this he steps onto the the skull of the dwarf.

"I still have a healing potion that I can give to the dwarf.  I saw we take down the Bugbear.  Somebody grab the body and drag it away."  Boghadair uses mindspeech to everybody in the group.

And then he fires at the Bugbear.

As soon as he sees the arrow, Ian uses his dash ability to run and knock Gundren away from the Bugbear.

ooc for DM   i am going to be out most of the evening so witchbolt will stay on doing 1d12 to the bugbear til he is dead or i am :)

As the Bugbear is struck by the arrow and witchbolt, Ian knocks the dwarf away.  

King Krol slams his Morningstar onto Ian making two attacks.

Tyrus is engaged with the wolf at the moment.  Johnson and Thagakh are up then we are back to Boghadair, Arafiel, Ian .... King Krol 

"I'll trust dwarf boss can take a hit."

The wereboar rushes to the giant bugbear and tries to cleave his body to half.
