Ozum's body begins to enlarge and morph. As he grows he sprouts multiple eyes and arachnid legs until he becomes a giant spider. He will use his blindsight to keep an eye out for invisible attackers.
At the last moment a Fire Bolt fires from his hand goes skipping off the ground as Xellos falls forward on his face, but manages to change the spell in time.
He rolls over on his back, "Oh."
With a kick of both legs he hops on his feet and begins casually whistling to avoid looking guilty.
(While bobbing up and down like a 1930's B&W cartoon)
To access that room you pass through an opening in the crumbling stone wall of the ancient tower. Thick grape vines have grown in this area, on both the inside and outside of the structure. Of course, because it is fall, there is no fruit on the vines. You push past the vines and enter the small square room; as soon as you do so, your entire surroundings change drastically...
You are not standing on the inside of an old abandoned tower as you expected. You are, rather, standing inside a circle of massive, gnarled, twisted trees. The trees (there are nine of them) are extremely close together. Their bizarre-looking trunks are grown so close together that they almost make a solid, impassible wall that surrounds you. You look up and see that the upper branches of each tree has become intertwined with the branches of all the other trees, forming a leafless, impossibly complicated series of knots that almost form a roof high over your head. In front of you is a narrow opening between two of the tree trunks; you can see very little beyond them, but you know that you are not looking at Syndaris. There is only gloom and shadow, and far off into the distance you see a few dim orange lights. You are sure they are the Will-o'-Wisps that you had just encountered.
Behind you is a second opening, one that is in the trunk of the largest of the nine trees. You realize that you have just entered some other realm. In Syndaris, the doorway between the two realms is the opening in the stone wall that is covered by the grape vines. In this realm, the doorway is the strange-looking hollow place in the tree behind you.
Kurt, Arissa, Ozum, and Xellos: You watch Frandal maneuver his way past the grape vines that stretch across the opening in the tower wall. Then, suddenly and surprisingly, he utterly vanishes.

Yes, you have discovered a shadow crossing; the two of you now stand in the Shadowfell. You step through the opening in the tree behind you and, suddenly, you are once again standing in the old ruins in Syndaris. A few feet away you can see Xellos, Kurt, and Ozum; they have looks of complete surprise and confusion on their faces.
Kurt, Xellos, and Ozum: A few moments later, Frandal and Arissa reappear in the vine-covered opening in the tower wall. It seems as if they magically blinked out of existence for a few seconds and then re-materialized shortly thereafter.
Xellos is still kind of creeped out by the giant Ozum-spider so he gives him a little bit of a wide berth as he goes to Frandal and Arissa. When they disappear out of thin air, he is startled and runs to them, but sees them pop back into this dimension.
"The Shadowfell? There is one of those crossings here? What was it like? What should we do about it?"

“That’s a good question Kurt, one that probably the Windhovers could answer. Perhaps before weren’t so much, or they wasn’t so big. Let’s check the other place were the creatures appeared and see if there is another one there. And let’s try to find out what happened in this place. This could give us some clue that help us answer this questions. I am not quite sure what we can do about it Xellos. And it’s.. weird, it’s like our own world but gloomy and dark... Yo can take a look if you like it seems pretty stable... “

(Can Frandal recognize this other place? Is this the Shadowfell as Oda told them? Arcana? 10 )
After a few seconds trying to recognize the place he is, Frandal tries to return to the ruins crossing the hollow at the trees.
Edit: ( futuristic wrote while I was doing it :) )
Seeing Arissa appearing from the hollow he was about to cross they stumble upon each other a little bit.
“Shhh hush... the will o’ wisp are over there “ Frandal says to her poiting to the lights.
“I think so that to... it seems that we’ve discovered other portal to it. Let’s try to go back.” He says pointing to the same spot she just appeared.

Frandal: Kurt investigated that area previously.
Xellos says, "Ok, I'll take a look...anyone care to pop in there as well?"
" Maybe the needle will work differently there."
He steps in (along with anyone else who intends to look as well). If all goes well he takes out the needle to see what happens.
